Al, 69, announced during the program’s opening segment that Dylan had Tuesday off.
Sheinelle, 45, quickly chimed in, explaining why Dylan, 42, wasn’t there.
Sheinelle divulged that Dylan’s day off was “well deserved” since she was “holding it down” last week.
Al continued on with his introductory monologue after he acknowledged Sheinelle’s point.
Dylan wasn’t only absent from Today Third Hourd on January 2.
She was missing from an episode of Today Third Hour that aired on December 7.
Craig, 44, Sheinelle, and Al all sat behind the desk for the morning show then too.
No one replaced Dylan, so only them three were on that day.
Craig gave the introduction and let fans know when Dylan would be back.
“And a good Thursday morning. Welcome to the Third Hour of Today,” he began.
DYLAN DITCHES
“Craig, Sheinelle and Mr. Roker.”
“Good morning,” Sheinelle said.
“Dylan is off this morning. She will be back tomorrow,” Craig explained.
Her reasoning for being out was not given to viewers.
Dylan was in on December 6.
COME ON, AL!
Before going absent that week, Al embarrassed Dylan in front of her ’90s celebrity crush.
Mario Lopez, 50, appeared on Today in early December to discuss fatherhood, his Christmas traditions, and his new projects.
After discussing Mario getting his Walk of Fame star, the hosts talked about his time on the show, Saved by the Bell.
“Did you think you’d still be talking about Saved by the Bell?” Al asked the actor.
“35 years later,” Sheinelle interjected.
“I couldn’t believe that because it was a show for little kids,” Mario said.
“So I never thought that.”
OWNING UP TO THE TRUTH
“I was one of them,” Dylan admitted to Mario, 50.
“I don’t know if I – No, I can’t do it, but I had a whole dance to the opening theme song.”
“Well, what’s up? Let’s see the dance,” Mario encouraged her. “Let’s see the choreo!”
“Oh no. I was jumping over couches,” Dylan shook her head. “I was a lonely child.”
“There was a whole thing.”
