Dylan Dreyer can’t help but feel lucky as she prepares for her return to TV. Since the weather anchor last appeared on the Today show in late September, alongside her fellow third-hour cohosts Al Roker, Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones, so much has happened in her life. But in case you missed her heartwarming personal and professional milestones, the NBC meteorologist recently recapped them ahead of her upcoming Today family reunion.
On January 17, Dylan posted nearly a dozen family photos on Instagram and each represented a special moment during her maternity leave. The visual walk down memory lane included sweet pictures of her son Rusty’s birth, her older sons (Calvin Bradley and Oliver George) celebrating their own birthdays, a never-before-seen holiday card and her exciting children’s book release.
“Maternity leave is a blessing and I’m so appreciative for the 16 weeks I got to spend at home with my boys (although some would argue it’s not nearly enough…agreed!!),” she captioned the Instagram photo collection. “As I prepare to go back to work in a week, I’m baffled by where the time has gone. Looking back, though, I realize…we squeezed A LOT in!!”

She continued: “A successful NICU stay for little Rusty, the launch of Misty the Cloud and it making it on The NY Times Bestseller List (!!), Halloween, Thanksgiving, @fishlense‘s birthday (sorry Bri, no pic!), Cal’s 5th birthday, (covid) Christmas, and Ollie’s 2nd birthday. I know time will keep flying by so I’m soaking in every second and loving every minute of it.”
“I’m also so lucky that I get to go back to a job I love and my kids get to see me loving what I do and working hard. So I’ve missed you all and can’t wait to be back on 3rd hour @todayshow next Monday!” she concluded.
Today fans, you read that right — Dylan is officially coming back to the NBC morning show on Monday, January 24. Unsurprisingly, viewers who follow the broadcast journalist on social media didn’t miss this subtle news in the caption. Many celebrated Dylan’s return and thanked her for sharing her maternity leave experience.
“So happy that you got to share so many sweet times with your littles! Welcome back!! ❤️❤️❤️,” one person wrote. “This post made me so happy- my maternity leave was the same length as yours, and I am back to work next week too. I have been wrestling with loving my leave and loving my job too- this made me feel like I wasn’t alone! ❤️,” another said. “Thank you for sharing your journey! I can’t wait to see you back on the 3rd hour🌞you guys are the best!!” a different fan said.
Throughout the last four months, Today fans have caught glimpses of Dylan on the show. Just one day after giving birth, she recounted how Rusty arrived six weeks early and what a whirlwind it’s been.
“I only have winter babies. Calvin was December, Ollie was January and I was like ‘Okay, let’s kick off the holiday season in early November with little baby Rusty,’” Dylan said on the show. “And sure enough, September 29 … there is no plan, there are no clothes cleaned, there is no crib in the house, nothing was planned. It’s wild! I can’t believe he’s here.”
We can’t wait for Dylan’s return!
