SURPRISE MOVE: BBC Breakfast Faces Major Presenter Shake-Up After Star Announces ‘EXTENDED BREAK’

A BBC Breakfast host will be stepping away from the programme for an extended period during a major overhaul of the beloved morning show. The breakfast programme airs daily from Monday through Saturday. There’s also a distinct section on BBC News on Fridays and BBC Breakfast on Saturday mornings called Newswatch, which examines the week’s most significant stories.

This week’s edition concentrated on the Gregg Wallace and John Torode MasterChef controversy alongside the BBC’s Gaza documentary. Nevertheless, at the conclusion of the programme, host and journalist Samira Ahmed revealed the show would be taking a hiatus, reports the Mirror.

She informed audiences: “We are off the air for a few weeks now, but please do continue to get in touch with us over the summer and we’ll be back with more of your thoughts about how the BBC covers news in the first week of September.”

Viewers expressed disappointment over the summer’s concluding episode. One commented: “Disappointing….and last one too,” while another posted: “Well, that was a waste of 10 minutes! ! #BBCBreakfast.” A third added: “Not this again. #bbcbreakfast.”

Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt

Meanwhile, genuine concerns have emerged that Naga Munchetty might be departing the BBC.

According to reports, Naga is claimed to be back in discussions with a non BBC radio station amid ongoing controversy on the show.

An insider revealed to The Sun that Naga’s agents are presently in talks with rival station LBC about a possible career move.

The TV star who is said to “love the BBC”, might possibly be considering her options elsewhere: “Her team last week renewed talks with LBC. The Global Radio station would suit her as there’s far less of the fluffy nonsense that’s involved in working at the BBC.”

Naga and Charlie Stayt front BBC Breakfast from Thursday through Saturday morning, whilst Jon Kay and Sally Nugent lead the programme Monday to Wednesday each week, apart from when they take time off for holidays.

The BBC has recently published their pay figures, with Charlie remaining on the £190,000 salary bracket, whilst Naga has received a £10,000 boost to her income, rising from £345,000 to £355,000.

It has consistently been the situation that Naga has earned more than Charlie. Her remuneration covers 180 days of hosting BBC Breakfast, alongside her Radio 5 Live show and election reporting.

The BBC Breakfast airs every day on BBC One from 6am.
