Kyren Lacy’s Attorney Fires Back Over “Witch Hunt” That Likely Caused His Client’s Tragic D3ath At Just 24-Years-Old

Former LSU receiver Kyren Lacy was found d3ad Saturday night in Houston.

In the wake of the d3ath of the former LSU wide receiver of an apparent suicide, Lacy’s lawyer, Matthew Ory, released a statement that took aim at the investigation regarding his client’s arrest on charges stemming from a fatal hit-and-run crash in Louisiana.

Lacy di3d days before a grand jury was set to begin arguments over his alleged hit-and-run case.

The former Louisiana State University wide receiver was arrested in December 2024 and charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless driving after authorities presumed he was involved in a fatal car accident that killed one individual and injured others.

Ory called the investigation into Lacy “targeted and overzealous” and also referred to it as a “witch hunt.”

“We were very confident the evidence, after being fully collected and reviewed, would lead to a declination of charges,’’ the statement read, first released by WAFB-TV.

“From the very beginning, this so-called investigation took on the appearance of an overzealous, targeted effort—what can only be described as a witch hunt—fueled by who Kyren was and the public profile he carried.”

Kyren Lacy faced a bleak future as the crash in Louisiana resulted in the d3ath of a 78-year-old man. Not only did someone di3, he allegedly left the scene without notifying authorities.

The accident happened on Dec. 17, and Lacy turned himself in on Jan. 12.

“The decision by the investigating agency to charge him at all, in our view, was not only unjustified, it was disturbing,’’ the statement read. “It’s imperative to understand the Lafourche Parish District Attorney, to this day, has not formally charged Kyren.”

Ory’s statement also touched on the media for a perceived role in his apparent suicide, referring to Lacy as “a young man with immense promise, and he was crushed under the weight of an irresponsible and prejudiced process. The negative barrage on social media, the circulation of his mugshot by nearly every news outlet rather than a standard photo, the recent civil lawsuit filed against him that named another defendant who mysteriously wasn’t charged with a crime, only him, and the overall tone of coverage painted a deeply biased picture before he ever had the chance to defend himself.”

“There was never a presumption of innocence which was exemplified by the NFL pulling his draft card over mere accusations without affording him the slightest chance to defend himself,” the statement read. “The pressure and perception likely became unbearable.”

Kyren Lacy Leaves Behind More Questions Than Answers

Former LSU receiver Kyren Lacy has a lot of people heartbroken over his d3ath.

He di3d in an apparent suicide in his car while being pursued by authorities in Houston.

Lacy already was facing criminal charges stemming from a fatal car accident in Louisiana last December that had clouded his NFL prospects.

His d3ath leaves a lot of questions that will never be answered.

We will never know if he would’ve been convicted and had to spend time in jail, nor will we know if he would’ve ultimately made it into the NFL, either drafted or undrafted.
