Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes have developed a sweet friendship through their shared love of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Swift, the girlfriend of tight end Travis Kelce, and Mahomes, the wife of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, have been photographed together at games — complete with a celebratory BFF handshake — as well as out to dinner and at events.
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes also attended one of Swift’s “Eras Tour” concerts with Kelce in Amsterdam in 2024.
Back in November 2023, Brittany Mahomes made her friendship with Swift Instagram official when she posted a photo of herself posing with Swift, Lyndsay Bell, wife of former Chiefs tight end Blake Bell, and Paige Buechele, who’s the wife of former Chiefs backup quarterback Shane Buechele.
Since then, their friendship has included nights out on both coasts and mutual support, both online and in real life. Here’s a timeline of their friendship so far.
September 2023: Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift are first spotted together
Swift first sent Chiefs and NFL fans into a frenzy when she attended the Chiefs’ win over the Chicago Bears on Sept. 24, 2023.
Not long after, Swift and Mahomes were spotted out to dinner together in New York City as they got acquainted.
It also marked the beginning of Mahomes being absorbed into a group of Swift’s friends, which also includes Selena Gomez, Zoë Kravitz, Blake Lively, Sophie Turner, the Haim sisters and producer Jack Antonoff.
Oct. 1, 2023: Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift are first seen at a game together
The duo were first spotted at a game together when the Chiefs played against the New York Jets on Oct. 1. In addition to Mahomes, Swift was also seen with Lively, Turner, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman that night.
Then, during the Chiefs 19-8 victory against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium Oct. 12, 2023, the “Blank Space” singer and Mahomes also popped up on the broadcast celebrating together.
They were seen hugging during the first half and later celebrating a touchdown. Kelce also had a big game, with Patrick Mahomes finding him for nine catches for 124 yards in the victory.
Oct. 22, 2023: They debuted a handshake
The two were seen celebrating in style after a touchdown during the Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium on Oct. 22, 2023.
Following a 46-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the second quarter, Swift and the wife of the quarterback broke out a new handshake in a scene shown on the broadcast.
They started with two slaps with the front of their right hands, followed by two slaps with the back of their hands, and then Swift pulled Brittany Mahomes toward her for a finishing move.
A new BFF handshake was officially born, although it looked like the two had put in some practice beforehand so they could nail it when it came time during the game.
Swift and Mahomes were also seen cheering together at other parts of the win over the Chargers. Mahomes was often holding one of her children with the QB.
Mahomes and Swift also seem to have ties that go beyond that gesture. TikToker and gemstone wholesaler Julia Hackman Chafé observed that the two appeared to be wearing matching jewelry at the game.
Chafé identified Swift wearing the necklace from Cartier’s Juste un Clou collection. Mahomes appeared to have a bracelet from the same collection. Both the necklace and bracelet look to be shaped like a nail, the Juste un Clou’s signature look.
In addition to the Cartier piece, the pop megastar added another new layer on Oct. 22, 2023, by wearing one of her signature friendship bracelets that featured a heart and the No. 87, which is Kelce’s jersey number.
Nov. 4, 2023: Brittany Mahomes joins Taylor Swift for a night out with Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and more
Flanked by longtime friend Selena Gomez and new friend Brittany Mahomes, Swift led the way out of a restaurant in November 2023, where photographers captured images.
In the pictures, Swift held their hands. Sophie Turner and Gigi Hadid hung back, a few steps behind.
Nov. 5, 2023: Brittany Mahomes is pictured leaving Taylor Swift’s house
Several wives of Kansas City Chiefs players, including Brittany Mahomes, were photographed leaving Swift’s New York home on Nov. 5, 2023, the same day the Chiefs played the Miami Dolphins in Germany.
Seeming to confirm the gathering, Mahomes posted a photo of her with Swift, Paige Buechele and Lyndsay Bell.
Dec. 3, 2023: Taylor Swift seemed to wear the same red coat Brittany Mahomes wore a year prior
At the Chiefs matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Dec. 3, 2023, Swift donned a long red teddy coat with an all-black ensemble and gold jewelry to cheer on Kelce.
On social media, fans speculated as to whether Swift borrowed the statement piece from Mahomes, as the quarterback’s wife was seen wearing the jacket in 2022.

Jan. 6, 2024: Taylor Swift, Brittany Mahomes and Lyndsay Bell grab dinner together in LA
Swift and Mahomes spent the night before the singer’s expected appearance at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards grabbing dinner together in Los Angeles.
Multiple Swiftie update accounts shared photos on X of the pop icon and Mahomes leaving a restaurant together Jan. 6, 2024. Bell also joined them.
In the pictures, Swift stunned in a black minidress and over-the-knee boots. Mahomes wore a black blouse, gray miniskirt and knee-high boots, and Bell braved the chilly LA night in a white turtleneck sweater dress, leather jacket and black boots.
Their night out came ahead of the Golden Globes and the Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Jan. 7, 2024. Swift’s concert film, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” was nominated for cinematic and box office achievement at the awards show.
Swift missed the Chiefs-Chargers game, which kicked off at 4:25 p.m. ET. Patrick Mahomes and Kelce did not take the field during the game and instead rested ahead of their playoff run.
Jan. 13, 2024: Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift twin at frigid Chiefs-Dolphins game
Swift and Brittany Mahomes took their friendship to the next level with matching outfits on Jan. 13 to kick off the 2024 postseason.
The pair attended the Chiefs-Dolphins playoff game on Jan. 13, 2024, in custom puffer jackets designed by Kristin Juszczyk, the wife of San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk.
Mahomes shared the sporty photos of the duo Jan. 14, 2024, showing off their matching jackets and white hats.
“Twinning & Winning💯,” she captioned the pics.
Both jackets were bright red and warm for the frigid -4 degree-temperature at Arrowhead Stadium.
Swift’s jacket featured a giant 87 on the front and back of the outerwear. Mahomes’ jacket featured a 15, Patrick Mahomes’ number.
Kristin Juszczyk shared a video to Instagram documenting the design process, adding in the caption, “An honor of a lifetime!!!!! Thank you @taylorswift & @brittanylynne.”

Jan. 28, 2024: Taylor Swift, Brittany Mahomes and Lyndsay Bell celebrate Chiefs AFC win
The two pals celebrated the Chiefs’ 17-10 win over the Ravens on Jan. 28, 2024, by posing in matching black Chiefs AFC Champions hats.
“LVIII,” Mahomes captioned the series of pics on Instagram on Jan. 30, referring to the roman numeral of the 2024 Super Bowl.
In addition to posting pics of their matching hats, Mahomes also shared a cute photo of herself and Swift touching Bell’s pregnant belly.
Bell sported a huge grin as Swift took a drink and Mahomes smiled from ear to ear.
Feb. 2, 2024: Brittany Mahomes comes to Taylor Swift’s defense
Mahomes came to to Swift’s defense following critics who said the singer’s presence draws attention away from games.
In a Feb. 2, 2024, Instagram story, she shared a Yahoo Sports post that quoted former NBA player-turned-sports-commentator Charles Barkley.
“If you’re screaming at Taylor Swift saying she ruined (football), you’re just a loser,” the quote from Barkley read.
Under the post, Mahomes wrote three simple words: “Let. Them. Know.”
Feb. 11, 2024: Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift pose arm-in-arm after Super Bowl victory
Swift and Mahomes celebrated the Chiefs’ victory at the Super Bowl Feb. 11, 2024 — the team’s second championship victory in a row. They watched the nail-biter side by side (at one point, Swift literally bit her nails).
After the game at Allegiant Stadium, Swift and Mahomes were seen going to Wynn Las Vegas accompanied by Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.
The two posed for a picture together at the nightclub. Both were all smiles. Swift was also captured dancing with Kelce to her songs “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me.”
July 6, 2024: Brittany and Patrick Mahomes attend the ‘Eras Tour’
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes were seen with Kelce at one of Swift’s concerts in Amsterdam July 6, 2024.
In a fan video shared on X, Brittany and Patrick Mahomes stood next to Kelce in a suite at Johan Cruijff Arena as they all swayed to the song “Lover.”
Brittany Mahomes also shared a clip of Swift performing her song “22” onstage, followed by a second video of the singer performing “Blank Space.” For the event, the NFL wife was all bejeweled and wore a sparkling black top.
She later shared an Instagram slideshow on July 15, 2024, showcasing pictures from the European trip. Included in the post were photos of both couples.
The foursome were seen together on a balcony of sorts in one photo while in another, Swift had her arm around Brittany Mahomes and kissed her head.
Sept. 8, 2024: Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes have a double date at the US Open
Swift and Kelce had a whirlwind NYC weekend in September 2024, and they capped it off with a trip to the U.S. Open championship match. They attended the match alongside Patrick and Brittany Mahomes.
The group was photographed watching the match together and having fun hanging out, complete with a sweet hug between Swift and Brittany Mahomes.
Dec. 18, 2024: Brittany Mahomes shares pictures from ‘Eras Tour’-themed party for Taylor Swift
After Swift wrapped her “Eras Tour” in December 2024, her boyfriend reportedly threw her an extravagant party to celebrate the record-breaking feat.
Brittany and Patrick Mahomes attended the event and shared a sneak peek at the festivities to Instagram. While Brittany Mahomes wore a sequined minidress that seemed to channel Swift’s “Midnights” or “Fearless” eras, her husband wore a black suit, top hat and bow tie that clearly referenced Swift’s performance of “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.”
Jan. 26, 2025: Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes celebrate the Chiefs making it to the Super Bowl (again)
After the Chiefs again won the AFC championship game in January, Swift and Mahomes celebrated their team’s victory on the field. In addition to sweet moments with their loves, the friends also shared a hug on the field.
The Chiefs will return to the Super Bowl on Feb. 9, facing the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of the 2023 championship game.
