More hopeful players took on Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel in a bid to win a cash prize

Michael McIntyre interrupted popular BBC game show The Wheel to share some ‘bad news’ during the latest edition.
Tonight’s instalment (November 22) of the hit series, welcomed celebrity experts Clare Balding, Zoe Ball, Bill Bailey, Lou Sanders, Konnie Huq, Tommy Fury, Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks.
Up first was Luke from Southampton who hoped to win as much cash as possible. At the start of the game, Luke told host Michael he hoped to win big to put the funds towards starting and supporting his family.
He also wanted to donate a chunk to Kidney Care UK due to his own personal reasons. Luke, who is a pharmacy delivery driver, said he cannot work too much because of a home dialysis.
Admitting his kidneys “stopped working”, the hopeful contestant added: “Through no fault of my own when I was around 27 I got diagnosed and I started dialysis at the age of 30 so I’ve been doing it for seven plus years now.

“So at home, five times a week, three and a half hours on the machine.”
Host Michael replied: “We’re all now fully motivated.”
With his first question being on musical instruments, it was celebrity expert Bill Bailey who was lit up in gold being the expert of that subject, with Tommy Fury being ‘locked out’.
The question was: “According to a 2024 YouGov survey, which musical instrument do the most Brits claim they can play?”
The answers included the piano, recorder, violin and saxophone. With the correct answer being piano – which Luke answered correctly earning him £3,000 – out of the celebrity experts just Tommy Fury also gave the correct answer.
However, host Michael soon halted the celebrations as he said: “Oh I’m sorry, we do have some bad news though.”
He went on to say: “It looks like Bill also went for recorder which means that you got that wrong and if an expert gets their question wrong, they’re shut down for the next spin.”
Many took to X to have their say just minutes in as one person wrote: “If you told me before this episode started that Bill Bailey would get his question in musical instruments wrong, I wouldn’t believe you. He’s a proper expert.”

After Bill answered a later question incorrect, another fan said: “Bill Bailey having an uncharacteristically bad night tonight? He’s usually the cleverest person in a TV Show but tonight thought there’s a bear called Tony! Next he’ll be saying there’s a tiger called Winnie.”
After an incredible start, Luke answered a question on Glastonbury incorrectly meaning he was kicked off The Wheel.
