Taylor Swift played a key role in Travis Kelce’s decision to delay retirement for at least another year, according to a new report.
After the Kansas City Chiefs fell 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59, much of the focus immediately turned to Kelce and his playing future. The 35-year-old spent several weeks considering retirement before deciding to return for his 13th season.
If Taylor Swift wanted Travis Kelce to retire, one could understand why. The romance is blossoming, and both would surely enjoy more privacy and less media coverage about their relationship.
But according to a report from Eileen Reslen of Page Six, Swift actually pushed for Kelce to return for his age-36 season in 2025.
“She didn’t want Travis to retire,” an insider told the outlet. “She wanted him to go out on a high note.”
Swift and Kelce have been in a highly publicized romance for more than a year now, with the world’s biggest music star frequently attending Chiefs games. She attended KC’s Super Bowl 59 victory against the San Francisco 49ers, as well as their devastating Super Bowl loss to the Eagles.

Kelce has failed to record 1,000 yards receiving in back-to-back seasons, but the future Hall of Famer remains a vital part of Kansas City’s offense.
But Kelce signing up for another season means Patrick Mahomes’ security blanket and most trusted receiver isn’t going anywhere. The 35-year-old and Mahomes have been unstoppable more often than not during their time together, especially in big game situations (Kelce is the all-time playoff receptions leader).
Kelce isn’t a superstar anymore, but his presence still makes the Chiefs a lot more dangerous.
