Emmerdale‘s Mary Goskirk faces a new setback next week as she desperately tries to reconcile with Vanessa Woodfield.
Mary is determined to make amends after being caught out for betraying Vanessa, but she’s about to realise that she may have ruined their friendship for good.
Earlier this month, a special Emmerdale flashback scene revealed that Mary shared a kiss with Suzy Merton in February. The unexpected moment came shortly before Suzy died in the limo crash disaster.
Suzy was in a relationship with Vanessa at the time, but she confessed to Mary that she wanted to be with her instead. Suzy made it clear that, regardless of Mary’s decision, she’d be ending things with Vanessa.

The truth was exposed when Vanessa looked through Suzy’s phone after her death and stumbled across messages that she’d shared with her friend Leyla Harding about the secret kiss.
Vanessa then discovered that Mary was the “other woman” in question, leaving her furious.
Next week, Mary tries again to deal with the situation now that Vanessa has had time to calm down.
Mary tries her best to win Vanessa over, but is left frustrated when she still gets nowhere.

With Vanessa adamant that forgiveness isn’t on the cards, will Mary have to keep her distance from now on? And how will this affect Mary’s daughter Rhona, who’s best friends with Vanessa?
The revelation of Mary’s secret featured in Leyla’s special funeral episode at the start of this month.
Leyla discovered three secrets before she died in the limo crash, but took them to the grave with her as she didn’t have time to tell anyone before disaster struck.

Roxy Shahidi, who played Leyla, told Digital Spy: “The love triangle revelation would have been really tricky for Leyla to deal with if she’d survived.
“She had such loyalty to both Vanessa and Suzy. But knowing Leyla, I think she would have accidentally told the truth in the end!”
Emmerdale airs these scenes on Tuesday, April 1 on ITV1 and ITVX.
