Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? stumped a contestant on an ‘easy’ £1,000 that saw him leave with nothing – but would you have got it right?

Viewers tuned in on Sunday (March 15) as Jeremy Clarkson hosted the latest episode of the ITV quiz show, which has been running since 1998.

William Ho, a mechanical engineer from Leeds, got into the hot seat after answering Fastest Finger First in three seconds at the start of the show.

And while William answered his first rounds with relative ease, his game came crashing down early on when he was left stumped over one multiple-choice question.

Playing to reach £1,000, the question asked: ‘What term is used for a scheduled flight regularly flown with a near-empty plane, in order to preserve a landing slot?’

The four possible answers were: A) Red-eye flight, B) Ghost flight, C) Maiden flight or D) Charter flight.

Almost immediately, William surmised that Red-eye flights were usually at night, so he selected that as his first answer.

He regretted this choice soon after, groaning: ‘Wait!’ before putting his hands on his face and realising his major mistake.

Jeremy then informed William that he answered incorrectly – the correct option was B) Ghost flight.

Unfortunately, this misstep meant that the mechanical engineer would be leaving with no money at all.

Writing online, one said: ‘Genuinely never heard of ghost flight – I might have got that wrong myself.’

Another wrote: ‘I bet that lad on who wants to be a millionaire wishes he was on a ghost flight out that studio right now.’

A third penned: ‘Oh no! William got the £1000 question wrong and leaves empty-handed. And he was doing so well until that point.’

A fourth remarked: ‘As if someone just walked away with nothing.’

A fifth commented: ‘#whowantstobeamillionaire is going well tonight.’

While a sixth shared: ‘Bless him, looked like he was going to cry.’

Following further player exits, a seventh viewer noted: ‘This must be the worst run of contestants ever!’

It comes as Jeremy previously left Who Wants To Be A Millionaire viewers amused after ‘wild behaviour’ on the popular game show.

The presenter made a humorous blunder on the ITV quiz while reading out a music question.

He asked contestant Daniel Keeble: ‘A single by which of these music acts re-entered the UK Top 40 in 2024 after appearing on the soundtrack of the film Deadpool and Wolverine?’

The four options were either Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Natasha Bedingfield, NSYNC or Kate Bush.

However, Jeremy incorrectly pronounced hit 1990s boy band NSYNC by each individual letter, saying: ‘N-S-Y-N-C’.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans hit back at the hilarious blunder, with one writing: ‘Love how Clarkson spells out all the letters of NSYNC.’

Another added: ‘Jeremy spelling out the band name NSYNC like that is wild behaviour.’

A third joked: ‘NSYNC feeling humbled by Jeremy Clarkson.’

While a fourth chimed in: ‘Jeremy saying ‘N-S-Y-N-C’ rather than ‘N-Sync.’

The US band’s song ‘Bye Bye Bye’ featured near the beginning of the superhero film, with Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) dancing to it.
