Mark Consuelos’ newfound love of golf has given his marriage to Kelly Ripa just the thing it needed.
On the Monday, April 14 broadcast of Live with Kelly and Mark, Consuelos, 54, opened up about how he’s gotten involved in the sport, from playing on the married talk show host’s Palm Springs vacation to spending most of his time watching players on TV.
“I’m officially hooked on golf. I watched the Masters,” he said of the golf tournament. “Kelly, thank you for letting me — not letting me, but not having a problem with me watching 16 hours of golf over four days.”

Ripa laughed and added that she “had my own life going on” while Consuelos was glued to the screen.
“You don’t know everything that goes on while you’re watching golf,” she quipped while her husband remarked that he did see an influx of packages arriving at their doorstep.
Consuelos continued to talk about his new passion for the sport, sharing what went down this weekend at the Master’s tournament. After he finished his long speech about golf, Ripa poked fun at how he rambled on.
“I feel in this moment probably about how you feel when I talk about anything else,” she joked. “Cause I heard ‘caddy’ and ‘icing him out’ and everything else, I have no idea what was just said. It was sort of like a haze. I went into a little haze.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Ripa and Consuelos spoke with Cameron Mathison, where his love for golf came up again. When Kelly said Mark had suddenly turned into a “gold expert,” he added that his new hobby has actually been “good for our marriage.”
“It’s amazing! The only golf relationship, marriage where it actually improved the marriage,” Cameron said before the couple agreed.
“She’s like, ‘You’re going to be gone for 5 hours? Go!’” Mark laughed.
Ripa and Consuelos have been married since May 1996 after meeting on All My Children. They share three now-adult children: Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 22.
