It has been speculated that Uganda’s decision to withdraw from the Invictus Games could be just the beginning of Prince Harry’s problems. On Wednesday (September 9), Uganda announced it would be pulling out of the Games, stating that it will not participate in any event without King Charles’s approval. The decision came just days after a letter issued on behalf of King Charles clarified Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s position within the Royal Family, confirming that they will remain non-working royals despite their return to the UK.

TalkTV star Samara Weaving believes Harry’s status could now have wider repercussions, suggesting that other organisations, including charities, may reconsider their ties with the Duke of Sussex. She suggested this could be the consequences of his past actions finally beginning to catch up with him. “This is huge. This is the words that Charles said a couple of days ago actually having consequences and it’s really refreshing to see,” she said on News24, formerly Sky News Australia.

“It means that Harry is going to be treated like the private citizen that the king said. I think it also shows a pullback of support from all of Harry’s projects.

The TV host continued: “This could mean potentially others pulling out of charities that Harry’s a part of because they don’t see him as a royal anymore, or they can see that the King himself, his own father, the monarch, doesn’t acknowledge him as a royal.

“And unfortunately or fortunately, we’re seeing some consequences finally to Harry’s actions. I really think that him and Megan thought that they could just grace back into the royal family as if nothing had happened over the past six years.

“What he’s really feeling now is the rubber hitting the road or in their case, the private jet tire hitting the tarmac. And reality is at their doorstep now because they’re actually figuring out that they can’t just come back into the Royal Family like nothing has happened.

“They will actually have to face the music.”

News24 presenter Danica De Giorgio described the announcement as a “real slap in the face” for Harry, but argued it’s “exactly what he deserves”.

The presenter went on to criticise the “hypocrisy” of Harry and Meghan for reportedly claiming they’d rather be known as “public figures” as opposed to private citizens.

Samara commented: “The privacy paradox of it all is quite frankly insane. He’s gaslighting the British public and the Royal Family to the highest order.”

She argued that the Sussexes had been “invading their own privacy” through their use of Instagram, a series of Netflix deals and Harry’s memoir, Spare.

Samara added: “They wanted was to be regarded as private citizens. Now, the king has told them that, they’re backtracking. They now want to be known as public celebrities. It’s pretty ridiculous.”
