Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant has shared his weekend side hustle, and his former co-stars couldn’t be prouder.
Appearing on the Celebrity Side Hustles podcast, which is presented by former Emmerdale stars Roxy Shahidi and Matthew Wolfenden, Joe-Warren revealed his unusual side hustle.
Rather than spend his downtime relaxing, Joe-Warren works as a waiter… yes, really!

Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant shares unusual side hustle
With Series two of Matthew and Roxy’s podcast underway, Joe-Warren is next in the hot seat to share his side hustle.
Fans will be surprised to know that when he isn’t filming for Emmerdale, Joe-Warren spends his time working as a waiter. He has had this part-time job for years apparently, starting out as a pot washer and working his way up.
Matthew Wolfenden added: “It’s true. He waits tables in a restaurant in Blackpool, he still does it now. I think with Joe, because he grew up on Emmerdale, you miss out on things like getting a bar job. So one day he just went, ‘oh, I’m gonna get a job in a restaurant’.”
Matthew went on to explain: “He started off washing dishes. He’s kept himself grounded, got a normal job on a weekend and yeah, that’s just really admirable and beautiful.
“He’s just such a gorgeous young man – he’s never got starry about it. I think if, if my kids go down that route and can be like Joe-Warren, then I’d be very proud.”

Joe-Warren Plant as Jacob Gallagher in Emmerdale
Joe-Warren has played Jacob in Emmerdale since 2010 and has featured in numerous hard-hitting storylines. Many of which involved David Metcalfe and Leyla Harding – played by Matthew and Roxy.
More recently, Jacob Gallagher has been grieving after his mum Leyla passed away in the devastating limo crash back in February.
Scenes earlier this month saw Jacob discover that Joe Tate was inadvertently responsible for the crash, making Jacob angry.
After Joe was pushed from a window at Home Farm, he ended up in a coma at the hospital where Jacob works. Last week, Jacob suffered a brief lapse in judgement as he considered killing Joe.
He later told Kerry Wyatt: “I looked at the machines and I thought ‘it’d be so easy’. I mean, it might not have worked, but I wanted to do something, anything, to make him suffer.”
He then said that he wanted to quit his doctor training as he’d broken a big rule. He shared that at med school one thing they’re taught is to be impartial at all time even if you don’t think the patient deserves to live.
Kerry managed to convince him not to give up and instead be the doctor his mum dreamed he’d be. Will Jacob be able to forgive Joe and move on with his life?
