GB Newsย was interrupted to deliver major breaking news as presenters Stephen Dixon and Ellie Costello revealed thatย Prime Minister ๐๐ฆ๐ช๐ณ๐๐ต๐ข๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ณย is “going to fight off any attempt to remove him as leader.” Stephen continued: “In a bid to shore off the PM’s position, Downing Street warned that any plot against his leadership could risk unsettling the market.” This comes after reports of a ๐๐ข๐ฃ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ civil war emerged, which forcedย Health Secretary Wes Streetingย toย dismiss claims that he was organising a coupย against the Prime minister.
The presenters introduced p0lit!cal commentator Duncan Barkes, who stated: “Less than 18 months in ๐๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต and we’re seeing the ๐๐ข๐ฃ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ party are appearing to unravel, and it doesn’t matter who’s saying this, everyone will deny it’s the case.” He continued: “I’m cynical enough to have reached a conclusion at this stage in my life, talking and writing about politics, every MP thinks they can do a far better job than the leader of the party, so we shouldn’t be surprised about this.” As well as Streeting, the recently assumed Secretary of Stateย Shabana Mahmoodย was also rumoured to be plotting for the role of Prime minister.

Shabana Mahmood and Wes Streeting were rumoured to be part of the coupย
Addressing the claims, a spokesman for the Health Secretary said: “These claims are categorically untrue. Wesโs focus has entirely been on cutting waiting lists for the first time in 15 years, recruiting 2,500 more GPs, and rebuilding the NHS that saved his life.”
Despite this, the ๐๐ข๐ฃ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ MPs expressed their clear dissatisfaction with Starmer earlier this year, as many rebelled against the Prime minister choices over attempts to cut the welfare bill and the attempt to remove winter fuel payments from more than 10 million pensioners, which also saw a backlash within the party.
On GB News, Duncan claimed: “If there were to be a leadership campaign or contest, it would beย Angela Raynerย who would be seen as the kingmaker because she was up until recently Deputy Prime Minister until she got confused about stamp duty, she has a lot of support over the left of the party.
“While she probably wouldn’t run herself, she could certainly influence a lot of people in how they might vote for a future leader.”
The broadcaster added: “It’s not just MPs who would vote. You have to get the support of trade unions and constituency parties as well.”
A ๐๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต source revealed toย the Mirror: “They’ve gone into complete bunker mode. It’s tin foil hat time.
“There are people around Keir – from when we were in opposition to No 10 – going rogue and doing extremely damaging briefings. They did it with Bridget [Phillipson], Lisa [Nandy], Angela [Rayner], now it’s Wes.”
