Coach Davison Reveals Serious Mistakes That Led To Anthony Joshua’s KO Loss Against Daniel Dubois

In his first-ever title defense, ‘Triple D’ sent Joshua’s career into turmoil, delivering a knockout blow to the jaw in Round 5 to claim a KO victory. Ultimately, he pulled off a major upset to retain his IBF heavyweight title on Saturday night. After the exciting boxing match, Joshua’s coach revealed significant mistakes that contributed to ‘AJ’s’ defeat.
For this fight, Joshua teamed up with the highly acclaimed coach Ben Davison, who has previously worked with Tyson Fury. In the post-fight conference, Joshua’s coach shed light on the game plan that went disastrously wrong against Daniel Dubois. He explained,
“We knew Dubois, he retreats when he jabs. We tried to capitalise on that for whatever reason, things didn’t get going in the early part of the fight. We just didn’t manage to get things going early.”
Davison also noted that they had a couple of strategies they were trying to exploit towards the end, but things didn’t unfold as planned. This defeat stands as one of the most devastating in Joshua’s career. While many speculated that ‘AJ’ might retire after this loss, he made it clear that he doesn’t plan on stepping away from the sport anytime soon.

‘AJ’ was knocked out in the fifth round by Dubois in front of nearly 100,000 spectators. Following the defeat, many believed that Joshua might retire. However, Joshua made it clear that his boxing career was far from over, dismissing retirement talk by stating:
“We took a shot at success and we came up short. What does that mean now? That we’re going to run away? We’re going to live to fight another day. And that’s what I am, I’m a warrior.”
