The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly made a decision on visiting the White House after receiving an invitation from President Donald Trump.
According to a report from John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia, the Eagles have “accepted an invite to visit” President Trump at the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl 59 championship.
Clark added that a date has yet to be determined. But after weeks of conflicting reports about the Philadelphia Eagles deciding not to go, it appears Nick Sirianni’s squad is happy to attend after all.
In 2018, President Trump rescinded the invitation to the White House for the Super Bowl 52 champion Eagles after several players stated they would not attend. Unlike most other NFL owners, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has also been a vocal critic of Trump.
The only four Eagles players who played on both championship teams were: Defensive end Brandon Graham, kicker Jake Elliott, offensive tackle Lane Johnson and long snapper Rick Lovato.
The coaching staff is significantly different from the Super Bowl 52 championship squad, too, with HC Doug Pederson being shown the door four years ago. GM Howie Roseman was also in the chair when the Eagles won it all seven years ago.
Championship-winning teams at the professional and NCAA ranks in the United States are traditionally invited to the White House. Aside from the Eagles, the 2016-17 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors also had their invitations rescinded by Trump when several players said they wouldn’t go.

The Eagles’ 40-22 throttling of the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 marked the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy in eight years. Additionally, it denied the Chiefs of completing the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat.
If the Eagles can win another Super Bowl within the next two years, they’ll unquestionably cement themselves as a 21st-century dynasty and join the special club with Kansas City and the New England Patriots.
