There were worrying scenes on Emmerdale on Wednesday night, leading to some fans thinking two characters had teamed up.

Ella Forster continued to harass her ex Liam Cavanagh and her love rival Chas Dingle. With messages and calls to Liam’s phone and the surgery where he worked, things took a dark turn in the latest episode.

A brick was thrown through the window of the pub where Chas lives, and she also emailed Belle Dingle to cancel the couple’s wedding. They both vowed enough was enough, with a desperate Liam calling the police.

They couldn’t act though with Ella AWOL, while Liam had no idea she had been spying on him and Chas. Ahead of violent scenes set to air on Thursday, fans were left suspecting there was more to Ella’s plan.

Some were convinced she wasn’t working alone, after Chas was left in hospital last week after an overdose. Doctors said she’d taken too many of her painkillers, with it revealed her codeine had been meddled with.

Ella was immediately accused of causing the overdose by messing with the tablets, while fans were sure it could have been John Sugden who was behind it. That said Ella ended up seemingly leaving the village only for her to return this week.

While some fans wondered if Ella was being set up by John, who had grievances with Chas over his relationship with her son Aaron Dingle, a new theory could suggest they are in cahoots. Fans wondered if John was to blame for the drugging incident either to hurt Chas or so that he could play the hero.

Either way, the new theory suggests Ella and John, who were seen having a chat together last week, could be working together to get back at Chas. It was John that offered guidance to Liam over the situation telling him to turn his phone off and ignore Ella.

But might he have been faking support to his boss, and might he be involved after all? A theory online read: “Something is seriously off with these two. I get a strong feeling that they’re conspiring, or that they’re linked to each other somehow, beyond their roles at the surgery.”

On Thursday there’s horrifying twists and turns and one character is in grave danger – but are there multiple exits on the way? Our soap source revealed: “Ella shows up determined to have her say with Liam, but when Mandy Dingle refuses to let her she threatens her with a knife.

“Things only escalate when Liam shows up, leading to a chase in the woods. It gets pretty scary for one moment when Ella acts out, and Liam’s left injured.

“She fears she’s killed him and it’s clear there’s no coming back from this.” Whether Liam survives and Ella exits remains to be seen.
