Draymond Green is widely popular for his aggressive and fiery style of play. The Golden State Warriors star was again in the spotlight following an incident during their 123-118 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.
The play in question occurred when Green, after falling to the floor while dribbling, trapped Grizzlies rookie Zach Edey’s leg under his arm. This act led to frustration and criticism, notably from former NBA player Kendrick Perkins.
Perkins did not hold back, publicly demanding a lengthy suspension for Green. However, the Warriors star responded quickly, addressing the controversy head-on during an episode of Gil’s Arenas, his podcast.
“I’m playing too well, BD. And guess what? The ratings are low. We know Draymond’s name sparks buzz. We know that name carries weight,” Green said.
“If many people around the league think Draymond should be suspended, guess what? Draymond will be suspended,” he added.
Draymond Green Calls Out Zach Edey, Questions His Toughness
Warriors star Draymond Green also attacked Zach Edey during a recent episode of his podcast. The Golden State Warriors star questioned Edey’s ability to handle his role and protect teammate Ja Morant, suggesting opponents might see him as soft.
“He’s supposed to protect Ja Morant! You are setting him up so that Ja Morant gonna end up protecting him. He’s big enough to have fooled people that he can be a little tough, and now nobody believes you. Now Joel Embiid is gonna try to put his chest into his stanchion just to see, ‘Huh, I think he might be a little soft,’” Green said.
The Warriors star has 3.4 personal fouls per game this season, per Statmuse. He averages 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
