New Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew book

Sarah and Andrew’s 40-year relationship is to be a subject of a new book, it has been announced.

‘Entitled: The Controversial Lives of the Duke and Duchess of York’ will be hitting bookshelves later this year. It has been penned by royal biographer Andrew Lownie.

It’s set to be the first-ever in-depth analysis of Andrew and Sarah’s unusual relationship.

The Duke of York, 64, and Sarah, 65, tied the knot back in 1986, having known each other since childhood.

In 1988, they welcomed Princess Beatrice. Then, in 1990, they welcomed Princess Eugenie.

However, their marriage wasn’t all plain sailing. Due to Andrew’s naval career, for the first five years of their marriage, it’s believed the couple only saw each other for 40 days of the year. In 1992 they separated, and in 1996 their divorce was finalised.

Despite this, the couple have remained good friends and in 2008 Sarah moved into the Royal Lodge with Andrew.

She even attends some royal family events with the Duke of York.

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson book to ‘shock’ people

Speaking to Sky News Australia, Lownie claimed that the book is going to “shock” people.

“There’s a lot that’s going to shock people, I’ve spoken to about 100 people who have never spoken before,” he said.

The royal author has described the former couple as “role-less” within the royal family. He claims that they are preoccupied with maintaining a “high life” through wealthy friends and acquaintances.

Lownie also claims that some of his Freedom of Information requests were rejected by the UK Government. He also claims that some high-profile sources were advised not to take part in the making of the book.

Fergie branded ‘greedy’

Prince Andrew is currently living a rather lowkey life following his sexual assault civil case scandal. He has always denied allegations of sexual assault against him and settled a case out of court with his accuser Virginia Giuffre in 2022.

Meanwhile, Fergie has spent the last few years rebuilding her reputation after a string of scandals.

However, Lownie believes that his new book will shift public perception of her.

Fergie is able to twist Andrew around her little finger.

He then went on to explain how Fergie’s “Achilles heel” remains her lavish lifestyle. He claimed that the former royal continues to live far more grandly than some other royals.

“Even [Prince] Edward and [Princess] Anne don’t live at the rate [Fergie] did, she had five times as many staff as [Princess] Diana,” he said.

The royal biographer then went on to claim that the “greedy” Duchess of York continues to “have a very dominant role over Andrew”.

Royal family ‘not keen’ on Sarah Ferguson living at Royal Lodge

According to Lownie, Fergie living with Andrew went against the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s wishes.

“Fergie is able to twist Andrew around her little finger and that was how she was able to move back in with him when the royal family was very keen for her not to be there,” he claimed.

Royal Insider has contacted Andrew and Sarah’s reps for comment.
