Following LeBron James’ sharp reaction about him regarding his son, Bronny James, Stephen A. Smith has offered several perspectives on the situation. But on Tuesday, Smith shifted the focus to the age-old GOAT debate between LeBron and Michael Jordan.
In the most recent episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, Smith addressed why he and LeBron James will never see eye to eye. The analyst also made it clear that his opinions don’t align with LeBron’s supporters.
“We don’t get along. And there’s a multitude of reasons why I have alluded to some of them, but we know what the biggest reason is. I ain’t Shannon Sharpe. It ain’t GOAT status this way,” Smith said.
“My GOAT is Michael Jordan. (James) Ain’t my GOAT. I watch the game. I’m a student of the game. I know a GOAT when I see one,” he added.
Smith’s remarks immediately sparked a heated reaction across the internet, dividing fans. Many backed Smith, arguing that Jordan’s unparalleled success and influence on the game make him the true GOAT. Others, however, criticized Smith for dragging Shannon Sharpe into the conversation and also for taking a stance in the James’ GOAT status.

Draymond Green also weighed in on the situation. On his podcast, Green directed a message at Smith, recounting a conversation he had with Bob Myers, former GM of the Warriors, regarding Smith’s criticism of Bronny and LeBron’s defending his son.
“You go on national TV and call out this African-American father who’s raised another successful black young man [Bronny James], and you go on TV calling him out as a father because his son played in the NBA? That’s backwards,” Green said.
This latest feud between Smith and James is not likely to be the last. Whether it’s Bronny, LeBron’s legacy, or the GOAT debate, it seems like both sides have a long way to go before finding common ground.
