She’s desperate for answers (Picture: ITV)
Before Ruby Fox-Miligan’s (Beth Cordingly) childhood secret was revealed in Emmerdale, her dad Anthony (Nicholas Day) made a comment that suggested Steph (Georgia Jay) might not be Caleb Miligan’s (William Ash) daughter.
A few days later, we then learnt Ruby had been s.e.x.u.a.l.l.y abused by Anthony when she was a child.
Since then, a worry that has been at the forefront of Ruby’s mind is the fact she doesn’t completely know for certain if Caleb is Steph’s dad.
So, in tonight’s episode, she took the first steps into getting some answers.

Ruby hasn’t told anyone – not even Caleb – about Anthony (Picture: ITV)
Conducting a DNA test without anyone knowing meant stealing something from Steph in secret. Luckily, once Ruby pulled a hair from Steph’s head, she covered by saying it was a grey one. Steph was stunned and dashed away to check her hair in the mirror, preventing any suspicion from rising.
A while later, Caleb returned home to find Ruby alone. He attempted to kiss Ruby but she was too overwhelmed with her secret and asked him to stop.
Ruby opened up to Caleb a little and asked if he would’ve stayed with her if she never got pregnant. Caleb reassured his wife which helped, but with the DNA fears hanging over her, it didn’t completely resolve the issue.
In the village, Ruby was holding a small box, which was enough for Chas (Lucy Pargeter) to realise she had completed the prep for the DNA test.
Ruby posted it in the letterbox so now, she’s playing a waiting game.
With Ruby set to finally get confirmation, just how much will things change if the DNA test reveals Caleb is not Steph’s father?
