SPOILERS RELEASED BY ITV: Coronation Street ROCKED by Theo Silverton’s actions as he CONFESSES

Coronation Street’s Theo Silverton (played by James Cartwright) has displayed some worrying behavioural traits of late, turning on boyfriend Todd Grimshaw (Garrett Pierce) over his friendships and displaying paranoia about almost everyone he meets. Spoilers released by ITV for Corrie episodes set to air next week show that after his latest outburst, Todd is still shaken when he bumps into Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien). Despite the fact that the pair have a close friendship, Todd is in denial about what is happening in his relationship, and he tries to justify Theo’s mood swings.

He puts his boyfriend’s erratic behaviour down to his religious upbringing and family pressures as he continues to fight to see his children. Despite his front, Sarah can see he’s suffering, but doesn’t push him on the issue. Later, a brooding Theo is scrolling through his phone and becomes incensed when he sees a picture of Todd and Sarah in the pub.

This doesn’t go unnoticed by Vicar Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) who approaches him to ask if he is ok – despite being on the receiving end of Theo’s fury in the past. Unable to contain himself, Theo loses his temper with Billy yet again and threatens him.

However, he eventually confides in Billy that he realises something is wrong with him and admits he’s going to see a therapist in the hope he can sort his head out.

This appeals to Billy’s emphatic nature Billy, and he speaks to Todd and urges him to cut Theo some slack, believing the builder is working on changing his ways. As he appeals to Todd, he lets slip Thero’s therapy secret, which surprises Todd and gives him food for thought.

Later on, Theo opens up to Gary and admits he couldn’t bring himself to attend the therapy session despite clearly having issues. Actor Garrett Pierce, who plays Todd on the ITV soap, has confessed that this storyline is going to get much darker as it progresses.

“Todd is in danger,” he told The Mirror. “Theo’s behaviour is becoming increasingly controlling, and there’s a moment coming up where he becomes physically abusive for the first time. There’s a line that has definitely been crossed; it will be hard to watch.

“Further down the road, there’s financial control. It’s very frustrating for the audience… [They’re] a little further ahead than Todd in recognising what’s going on. The audience is also party to a couple of occasional sadistic glances from Theo that Todd doesn’t see.”
