Joe Tate returned to Emmerdale (again) this week, more determined than ever to have Dawn to himself. Swanning into Home Farm like he’d never been away, he made it clear to both Kim and Dawn that he wouldn’t be dissuaded.

This came as Dawn and Billy returned from their romantic break last night (Monday, April 14), feeling refreshed and loved-up. However, the feeling wasn’t to last – and the sudden reappearance of Joe left Dawn clearly doubting herself.

And, as Kim attempted to warn Joe away, he made it very clear that he had no intention of backing off. But what does Joe see in Dawn?

Emmerdale fans slam ‘unbelievable’ writing as Joe is in love with Dawn

Writing on social media as last night’s episode aired, fans shared their thoughts on Joe‘s return – and his apparent strength of feeling for Dawn. And many aren’t buying it at all.

“Can there be some sort of twist to the Joe/Dawn stuff because I find Joe being madly in love with Dawn less believable that him stealing a kidney.” wrote one fan on Reddit.

“Its really come out of nowhere to me. He leapt from “oh this is just sex” to “I’m in love” incredibly fast,” said another.

“Sorry but Emmerdale will never be able to sell joe and dawn as a real couple to me,” a third wrote, over on Reddit.
