The viral post claims that Canelo allegedly confronted Musk directly, stating: “With all your money, I will NEVER promote your Teslas. It is because of rich men like you that my Mexican people are hunted like animals. I will not support a brand that profits from anti-Mexican racism”. The post concludes with the phrase: “Canelo is not for sale! His heart is with his people”.
However, when directly asked about the rumor during the press conference for the fight between Canelo and Terence Crawford on Friday, the champion refused to give a clear answer. “I don’t want to talk about that, man, we’re talking about fighting, but I always support my people,” was his only response.
Although Canelo did not confirm or deny the rumor about the sponsorship, his response did reaffirm his stance of support for the migrant community, a stance he had previously expressed. In an interview with AS Sports, Alvarez reacted to the ICE raids by alluding to immigrants to ask themselves if it was worth living in the United States in a constant state of fear. “Above all, the first thing in life is to be at peace, to be calm… there is nothing more valuable than tranquility,” he said.
