Social media detectives think they found evidence that Taylor Swift’s recent comments on Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy prompted Travis Kelce to take out his teammate in yesterday’s season opener.

Xavier Worthy was injured on the Chiefs’ opening possession against the Los Angeles Chargers after accidentally colliding with Travis Kelce on a crosser route. The second-year wideout was subsequently ruled out with a shoulder injury, and the Chiefs’ offense struggled to find a rhythm in a 27-21 loss.
It was obviously a complete accident, but internet detectives did some digging and have floated a conspiracy theory that Kelce intentionally injured his star teammate.
During her appearance on “New Heights” last month, Taylor Swift said she ran through the halls of her house and screamed in excitement after the Chiefs moved up to draft Xavier Worthy in 2023.
And, well, you can probably guess where we’re going with this.
“Taylor Swift was hyped about Xavier Worthy and Travis Kelce was having NONE of it 🤣,” X/Twitter user Keremy Karp pointed out.

Kelce had a quiet Week 1 performance against the Chargers, catching just two receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown. His 37-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter brought the Chiefs back in the game, but it was still an uncharacteristically quiet game for the All-Pro tight end, considering KC was without Worthy, Rashee Rice and rookie Jalen Royals.
The future Hall of Famer exceeded the 1,000-yard mark every year from 2016 to 2022, but fell short of the plateau in 2023 and 2024. Last season, Kelce had 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns.
With key players missing on offense, the Chiefs will need a lot more from Kelce in the coming weeks. He can start next Sunday when the Chiefs host the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl 59 rematch.
