The BAFTA Award-winning series DIY SOS is back on BBC One and iPlayer with a brand new run of truly life-changing builds.
Nick Knowles, Designer Gabrielle Blackman and the much-loved team will once again be joined by an army of volunteers, trades and local suppliers from across the UK to take on some of their most ambitious and challenging projects yet.
Alongside the purple shirt regulars – electrician Billy Byrne and plasterer Chris Frediani – the team welcomes fresh faces this series: woodworker Radha Siyver and gardener Ashley Edwards, who bring new skills and ideas to the DIY SOS family.
For 26 years and over 240 episodes, DIY SOS has rallied tens of thousands of volunteers. Together, they’ve delivered life-changing home and community transformations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
This new series puts authentic storytelling and community spirit right at its heart. From Leicester to London, and Swansea to Bracknell, the DIY SOS team will work alongside inspirational families facing extraordinary challenges to create homes that can transform lives.
In four brand new episodes, plus a special for Children in Need, and a festive Christmas build with a little help from the BBC’s Gladiators, viewers will see first-hand the jeopardy, determination and extraordinary teamwork that go into every project.
The 4 x 60 minute series includes:
The transformation of a home for Isla, a young girl living with the rare genetic condition Mandibuloacral Dysplasia, which affects bone growth and causes premature aging of major organs.
A safe and accessible home for the Scott family, following the tragic loss of mum Zoe, and to support Seth — who is blind and autistic — alongside his four older siblings.
Two remarkable builds in Bracknell and Swansea: one fitting a life-changing lift into a tiny terrace, the other doubling the footprint of a family home.
Across the country, communities and thousands of volunteers will come together with Nick, Gaby and the DIY SOS team to deliver builds that are emotional, high-stakes and full of heart — celebrating the very best of humanity.
Nick Knowles, DIY SOS Presenter says: “I’m so excited to have DIY SOS back on our screens – I think it will remind people how many good, generous people there are across the country willing to help out others in their time of need. We also share much more of what it takes physically and emotionally to fulfil the promises we make to families and communities with our huge builds. Still emotional and fun as it always has been, there’s faces old and new on the team and the usual cast of thousands.”
Sam Grace, Executive Producer for South Shore, says: “It’s been a privilege for all at South Shore Wales to produce a show that’s as iconic as DIY SOS. It’s an incredible sight to watch Nick, the Purple Shirts and an army of volunteers transform the lives of people across the UK.”
Cal Turner, BBC Commissioning Editor, Factual Entertainment, says: “DIY SOS is so much more than a building show — it’s about hope, kindness and what can be achieved when people come together. This series is full of extraordinary families and communities, and I think viewers will be really moved by the heart, the humour and the life-changing impact of these builds.”
DIY SOS is a Factual Entertainment programme. This series is made by South Shore (Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams) in Cardiff. Executive Producers are Sam Grace, Melanie Leach and Andrew MacKenzie. Series Producer is Claire Edwards, alongside Line Producer Ally Jenkins and Head of Production, Cath Tudor.
