Meghan Markle ‘up all night’ caring for ‘sick’ children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet
Meghan opened up about motherhood in the newest episode of her podcast
Meghan Markle has offered a rare and heartfelt glimpse into her life as a mother, revealing that she had been up all night caring for her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as they both recently fell ill.
Speaking in the second episode of her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, released Tuesday (April 15), the Duchess of Sussex, 43, opened up about the emotional and physical demands of motherhood, especially when her children are unwell.
“My kids right now, one has RSV, the other has influenza A,” Meghan shared candidly. “I hear a little pitter patter of feet of their home from school, you know, cough syrup all night and rubbing the back.”

Despite the exhaustion, Meghan explained how she continues to show up – both for her family and her work.
She said: “And we still find a way to show up for both. But being able to be comfortable enough… to say, ‘Yeah, today I’m going to show up for you, but I’m showing up for you in my sweatshirt today because I’ve been up all night with my babies. But I’m still going to be able to show up for both because both matter.’”
In the same episode, Meghan reflected on the balancing act faced by working mothers.

She even touched on her miscarriage in 2020, drawing a poignant parallel with her guest, Reshma Saujani.
Reshma is the founder of the nonprofit organisation Girls Who Code as well as Moms First.
“I’ve spoken about the miscarriage that we experienced,” Meghan said gently. “When you have to learn to detach from the thing that you have so much promise and hope for and to be able to be okay at a certain point to let something go, something go that you planned to love for a long time.”
Meghan and Prince Harry lost a child to miscarriage in July 2020, when their son Archie was just one year old.
She shared this heartbreak publicly later that year in an op-ed for The New York Times.

Meghan on ‘scary’ and ‘rare’ childbirth condition
In the first episode of her podcast, released on April 8, Meghan revealed for the first time that she suffered from postpartum pre-eclampsia after childbirth – a rare and dangerous condition involving high blood pressure.
“It’s so rare. And it’s so scary,” Meghan told guest Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder of the dating app Bumble.
“You’re still trying to juggle all these things. And the world doesn’t know what is happening, quietly and in the quiet, you are still trying to show up for people. You’re still trying to show up, mostly for your children. But those things are huge medical scares.”
Whitney recalled watching Meghan’s public photocall days after Archie’s birth and being stunned at her strength.
She said: “I was like, oh my God, how is this woman doing this? I could barely face a doorbell delivery for takeout food.”
Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down as senior working royals in 2020. The couple now live in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The couple has focused on building their foundation Archewell, working on humanitarian projects, podcasting and creative ventures.
Meghan’s newly launched podcast explores female leadership, motherhood and mental health, with a strong emphasis on authenticity and vulnerability.
