‘Said the worst possible things’ GMB’s Adil Ray divides fans with Charlie Kirk post
Good Morning Britain host Adil Ray has split opinion after paying tribute to controversial Republican activist Charlie Kirk, who was ass@ssinated in a campus sh00ting this week. Taking to Instagram, Adil shared a candid message: “The d3ath of Charlie Kirk is tragic. He said the worst possible things about my race, my religion, my worth and about millions of others. But violence to silence ideologies or challenge others is never the answer.
“Treat others how you wish to be treated. As a Muslim and a fellow human, my deepest condolences to his family.” The post quickly sparked a wave of responses from followers, with some praising the presenter’s stance and others openly conflicted. One person wrote: “Exactly. I wasn’t a fan of anything he had to say. I didn’t agree with his position on most things, but I don’t think he deserved to be killed. No matter what he was to the rest of the world, there are two children to whom he was just ‘daddy’.”
Radio star Angie Greaves echoed the sentiment in the comments: “Spot on Adil. Wasn’t the greatest fan of Charlie Kirk BUT ….. There were some things he said that created an interesting debate. Right now those debates are worthless. Let’s pray for his wife and those babies who are left behind to mourn this loss.”
Another Instagram user added: “My daughter and son are worried about their safety, their culture. I’m supporting them. I agree with what you said, violence is not the answer.”
Kirk, 31, was best known as the founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative youth organisation that rose to prominence on high school and college campuses.
The group championed free speech and opposition to “cancel culture,” promoted capitalism and small government, and railed against left-wing policies on immigration, taxation, and education.
Often confrontational, Kirk gained a reputation for his combative “Prove Me Wrong” debates, in which he invited students to challenge his views head-on.
His events drew headlines for fiery exchanges on race, healthcare, and cultural divides. The activist was gunned down during one such event in Utah, sending shockwaves through the conservative movement.
His close ties to Donald Tгuмρ — and his influence in persuading the president to pick JD Vance as running mate — cemented his status as a powerful figure on the American right.
Tгuмρ has since vowed to posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s highest civilian honour.
Speaking at a 9/11 memorial event at the Pentagon, he hailed Kirk as “a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people”.
Paying tribute to Kirk’s family, Tгuмρ said: “Our prayers are with his wonderful wife Erika and his beautiful children — fantastic people they are.
“We miss him greatly, yet I have no doubt that Charlie’s voice and the courage he put into the hearts of countless people, especially young people, will live on.”
