A Place in the Sun: Buyer jokes about ‘remortgaging’ her house

A Place in the Sun star Jasmine Harman has issued an exciting update, and fans “can’t wait”. The Channel 4 presenter took to Instagram on Monday (March 9) to confirm the return of the show’s beloved spin-off, What Happened Next?.

The popular series sees the property experts catch up with house hunters who bought their perfect place abroad, giving viewers a glimpse of what their lives are like living in the sun.

Jasmine announced the show’s return in an Instagram Reel, telling fans: “Exciting news! I’ve just found out that we’ve got a new series of A Place in the Sun: What Happened Next? starting next Monday. So, we’ll be going to France, Spain, Greece, Cyprus, lots of different locations, and you can catch up on what our previous house hunters have been doing since their original programme.”

More details were shared in the caption, which read: “There are ten brand-new episodes airing over two weeks, where you can catch up with 20 couples and families who took the leap and bought homes in France, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Malta, Corfu and Lanzarote.

“From the rolling countryside of Charente and Haute Vienne in France, to Spain’s Costa Blanca, Murcia and Mijas Pueblo, and the tranquil shores of Corfu and Cyprus, the series reunites presenters with past house hunters to see how their new lives have unfolded.

“This new series reveals life-changing moments, including turning a Greek neglected rural house into an award-winning luxury holiday home, becoming mortgage free aged 50, and getting divorced and starting life again in the Spanish sunshine.”

Fans quickly shared their delight in the comments section, with one person writing: “Yay, I love these follow up episodes,” with another adding: “Love this, people’s stories matter and really help others!”

A third said: “Oh yay I was hoping you would do this again. I really enjoyed the last season, it was great to see how people had adapted to their new lives. Can’t wait to watch,” with another viewer similarly sharing: “Super – I really enjoy seeing how people have done.” A fifth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “Oh brilliant, can’t wait for the catch-up.”

Meanwhile, other fans urged Jasmine to share updates from her own house move. In 2023, the star’s family relocated from London to Estepona on Spain’s Costa del Sol, with the renovation being documented for the Channel 4 series, Jasmine Harman’s Renovation in the Sun, which aired last year.

“Fab news & would be great to see a follow up on your own journey,” one fan wrote, with another aasking: “Are you included Jasmine? After a year, [I’d] love a follow-up on you, John, the kids and pets.”

Jasmine was the first to be selected to co-present A Place in the Sun back in 2004, and has since filmed more than 200 episodes worldwide, recording more instalments than any other presenter of the show. She’s also fronted BBC One documentary, My Hoarder Mum and Me, as well as Britain’s Biggest Hoarders, Britain’s Compulsive Shoppers, The Truth About Your Teeth, and Collectaholics.
