SURPRISING TURN: Sarah’s IVF Journey Sparks CONTROVERSY in Emmerdale Village

Emmerdale has aired a major update in Sarah Sugden’s baby storyline after her grandmother Charity Dingle offered to help her out.

Sarah recently made the decision to try for a baby using IVF following the breakdown of her recent love triangle with Jacob Gallagher and Kammy Hadiq.

Last week, Sarah was diagnosed with cervical cancer, but was told by her consultant that it would still be possible for her to fulfil her dream of having a baby.

In today’s episode Sarah celebrated her 20th birthday and, after wrongly assuming Charity was making a dig at her, she said: “I still want a baby and I’m going to do whatever it takes to have one.”

Discussing Nate’s death, Sarah said: “Nate dying just shows us that any of us could go at any point, does that mean nobody should have kids ever?”

“There’s a huge difference between knowing you’ll probably be around to see your kid grow up and knowing that you probably won’t,” Charity said, referring to Sarah’s Fanconi Anemia.

“I just want as long as possible with my child, which means I have to start now. And I would love your support, but I don’t need it OK? And I will do this without you if I have to,” Sarah told her gran.

Later, Charity offered to help Sarah fund the IVF treatment, saying: “If you’re doing this, well, then let me pay. I love you so much and if this is what you need to feel supported, well then.”

Despite knowing that Sarah has a limited life expectancy due to her condition, Charity is still unaware that Sarah was diagnosed with cervical cancer. How will she feel when she finds out?

Previously opening up to Digital Spy about why Sarah is so keen to have a baby, Emmerdale star Katie Hill, who plays Sarah, said: “Sarah is feeling lonely. She doesn’t feel like she has much of a purpose right now, so she’s set on the idea of having a baby.”
