An awkward row erupted on The Jeremy Vine Show after panellist Nina Myskow was heavily criticised by a caller. Appearing on the programme to discuss whether or not Prince Harry should spend more time in the UK, the broadcaster was left frustrated after a viewer named Alice berated her live on air.

“For god sake, it’s like Nina Myskow has never ever had a racist thought in her life,” Alice fumed. A remark that confused both Jeremy and Nina, the latter promptly replied, “What are you trying to say Alice?”

“I’m telling you, that in your life, are you trying to say – hand on heart – growing up, you’ve never had a racist thought in your life?” the caller asked. Forced to intervene, Jeremy came to Nina’s defence, noting, “What’s the relevance of the question. Alice? Help us understand.”

“Well, I’m trying to answer the question. The fact is she was talking about the fact that it was racist to ask what colour the child was going to be,” Alice fired back. Noting that she herself was a woman of colour herself, Alice declared, “If somebody asked that question I wouldn’t take offense.”

Pointing out that it was her co-star, Cristo Foufas, who had spoken about the incident, which Meghan famously recalled in her Oprah Winfrey interview, Nina exclaimed, “Blame Cristo not me because he’s the one who’s saying what you’re saying.”

As her spat with Nina calmed down, Alice moved on to whether or not Harry should spend more time in the UK. Offering an answer, she told the panel, “No he shouldn’t. He was completely disloyal to this country and to the monarchy – we are a monarchy – and he was an essential part of that monarchy and he completely let them down, let the country down.”

Putting another critical remark to journalist Nina, the caller told Jeremy, “As far as I’m concerned, for Nina Myskow to sit there as though she knows, ‘Oh he was hounded out of the country, he was hounded by the press,’ how does she know this?”

“Yes he was. He was hounded,” Nina returned. “The pile-on that Meghan in particular – always blame the woman – got for years and years and years is akin to what Professor Jason Arday had. She was piled on for years and years and years, and it still continues.”

With the debate growing heated again, Jeremy was forced to put an end to the discussion, telling viewers, “We’re going to move on,” and thanking Alice for her time.

A divisive segment, Harry’s future in the UK has become a prominent topic in recent weeks, following reports that the Sussexes are hoping for a royal reconcilation. While the current state of his relationship with King Charles and Queen Camilla is unclear, both Meghan and Harry took a step in the right direction after bringing their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to meet with their grandfather in July, which could signal the start of a new feud-free era.
