The iconic Carmelo Anthony and Rihanna picture from the 2014 Met Gala went viral online and became a big meme on social media. Almost a decade later, the former New York Knicks star finally revealed the story behind the picture.

In a segment of his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast that released on Thursday, co-host The Kid Mero asked for the story about the picture. Former NBA player Rudy Gay was also on the podcast and said:

“I have never seen you look like that bro. What’s going on?”

“I must tell you the real story,” Carmelo Anthony said. “It was after the Met (Gala), we go in there. We already in there having a good time. Every time people come in there, a celebrity comes in, the cameras go crazy. It’s small in that area so you see all the flashes, it’s commotion when you walk in there.”

Speaking about the moment Rihanna entered the room, he said:

“I finally walk in and get through the camera and sit down. Now I found my comfort zone. Ri walks in, cameras go crazy. There is only one area to go to and I’m like, ‘please don’t come over here.’ The flashes go so I put my head down and I look up and she is right there posing.”

Carmelo Anthony picks LeBron James’s LA Lakers as best destination for Jimmy Butler

The relationship between Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat front office has come to a dead-end. After it was reported that Butler asked for the trade in a face-to-face meeting with Pat Riley, the last flicker of hope to keep Butler in Miami also died down.

Amid the Butler-Riley drama in Miami, several teams have appeared among the next destinations for Butler, most prominently the Phoenix Suns. However, Carmelo Anthony said that Butler should join the LA Lakers. The former Knicks star said that with LeBron James on the team, Butler would be a good-fit for the Lakers.

“I am sending Jimmy to the Lakers,” Anthony said. “You got veteran guys on your team, Bron knows how to f**k with you, they need defense, you bring that toughness and you can go get it.”

As much as the Lakers and perhaps Butler would like the trade, Carmelo Anthony’s proposal will require plenty of maneuvering to execute. According to Sports Illustrated, the Heat and the Lakers are both close to the second apron, requiring both to match salaries exactly to pull off the trade. The Lakers would have to give up a lot to get Butler.

Jason Whitlock has been commenting on former Fox Sports hairstylist Noushin Faraji’s allegations against Joy Taylor, Skip Bayless and Charlie Dixon. Faraji claimed that she was forced to work in a “misogynistic” and “racist” environment where “executives and talent” could “physically and verbally abuse workers.”

Whitlock, who left FS1 in 2020, has had things to say about the situation. In Thursday’s episode of The Fearless, he continued to dig into the allegations:

“She [Faraji] tries to point out that there’s a continuing pattern at Fox Sports, the things that Noushin is saying that Charlie Dixon and/or Skip Bayless or Joy Taylor were involved in is what’s expected in a Fox environment. … She insinuates that other high-profile people at Fox News have had the same problem.

“This lawsuit speaks to the toxicity and the negative ramifications of the patriarchy. Look at these women and how they were exploited!” (5:10 mark)

Jason Whitlock did not rule out the possibility that others with the same alleged experiences as Faraji could emerge. He added that they could join a “class action” against the defendants in the lawsuit filed by Faraji on Jan. 5.

To recall, Faraji accused Joy Taylor of “insulting her on a personal level.” The former hairstylist also alleged that the Speak host told her to “get over it” when she reported s3xual harassment to him.

Additionally, Faraji claimed that Taylor had s3xual relations with Emmanuel Acho and Charlie Dixon to further her career on the network. So far, Taylor, Bayless and Dixon have not responded or addressed the allegations.

In 2022, the show was rebranded as Speak, featuring Joy Taylor as host, while Keyshawn Johnson and Paul Pierce were the regular panelists. NFL great Michael Irvin also joins the group from time to time.

After the Noushin Faraji allegations came out, Whitlock had this to say about Taylor:

“Joy Taylor had done some radio work down in Miami, what does she have to offer? How does she get that job? How does she even get that opportunity? … A 25-year-old with them big cans and that peanut butter skin who has nothing to say, at some point I’m going to lose respect.”

Whitlock received a ton of flak for his comments, but he remained unapologetic. He has insisted that he just called it as he saw it and did not go overboard.

Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim are doing very little to help their case as it pertains to rumors that they’ve been secretly dating.

The ‘First Take’ co-hosts get into friendly arguments daily, chiding each other on random things. But Smith has perhaps gone a bit too far this time, though he recently came under fire for some very suggestive comments he made to he Molly last month.

Thursday’s episode of the flagship ESPN show saw Smith, Damien Woody, and Kimberly Martin make their picks on who will win the NFC this season. Woody and Martin both picked the Eagles while Stephen A. said he had them down but is having second thoughts.

He wasn’t able to give a pick when pressed by Molly.

“Thanks for educating us on TV,” she said, likely in reference to his use of the word “trepidation.”

“Maybe you could let us know when the show ends,” she added.

“You know, I have to admit to you, I’m pretty focused on how good I’m looking,” Smith responded. “I’m a bit distracted by how smooth I’m looking, and it just shows the hatred because you [Qerim] won’t give me love.”

Molly struggled to get a question in about his pocket square and asked him to stop talking.

“If you tell me to stop talking one more time, I’m gonna wait till you pick up the phone to call me and watch what I do, as much as you talk,” he shot back. “It’s gonna be aight.”

Molly claimed that sometimes there are issues regarding the show that need to be addressed immediately, which is when Smith implied she was lying as he revealed she calls him “just to vent.”

A fascinating trade proposal has the Indiana Pacers beginning a giant retool by sending superstar Pascal Siakam to a Western Conference heavyweight in a blockbuster move that would alter the NBA landscape.

Pascal Siakam helped the Pacers to a surprise trip to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, but they were swept by the eventual NBA champion Boston Celtics. It was still supposed to be a big step forward for the Pacers, who wound up giving Siakam a four-year extension worth $189.5 million.

The Pacers were flirting with a .500 mark for the first two months of the season before kicking off the new year with a six-game win streak. Now at 23-19, the Pacers are starting to resemble last year’s high-scoring juggernaut.

But if the Pacers start to struggle with consistency again leading up to the trade deadline, could a significant move be on the way?

Ryan Stano of Sports Illustrated proposed a monster trade idea that would see them trade Siakam to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for star guard Desmond Bane and veteran Luke Kennard.

“This trade would provide Indiana with two guys who can shoot the three-point shot highly effectively from the shooting guard position. Bane is also someone who can score from anywhere on the court. He’s also a solid perimeter defender who has a very strong base.

Kennard is someone who could come off the bench and make a lot of threes in a hurry. If Toppin were to move into the starting lineup after shipping Siakam off, that would leave them with very little three-point shooting coming off the bench. Kennard would give them that in this scenario.”

 

The Grizzlies sit third in the Western Conference with a 26-15 record, led by the high-scoring trio of Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant. But if they swapped Bane and Kennard for the 2019 NBA champion, the Grizzlies would immediately emerge as the team to beat this year.

Siakam played a significant role on the Toronto Raptors’ rise to prominence in the last half of the 2010s. Without his efforts, they wouldn’t have won the 2019 NBA championship or come within a game of returning to the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals.

The Pacers wouldn’t have made the final four last year without the performance of the two-time All-Star, either. If Memphis could somehow pull off a trade for Siakam, it would push them that much closer to their first NBA Finals appearance, and perhaps a championship.
