Months after ABC canceled Roseanne following a racist tweet from Roseanne Barr, John Goodman has opened up about how he felt in the days and months following the show’s abrupt ending, yubi. “I was brokenhearted, but I thought, ‘O.K., it’s just show business, I’m going to let it go,’” Goodman told The Times of London in a recent interview. “But I went through a period, about a month, where I was very depressed. I’m a depressive anyway, so any excuse that I can get to lower myself, I will. But that had a great deal to do with it, more than I wanted to admit.”

When asked how he felt about ABC’s response to Barr’s tweet—“Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” a reference to former Barack Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett—the magazine reported that Goodman took a very long pause before saying, “I was surprised. I’ll put it this way, I was surprised at the response.”

After another pause, he added, “And that’s probably all I should say about it.” And finally, after one more lengthy silence: “I know—I know—for a fact that she’s not a racist.” Goodman did not say what he thought of the tweet itself—or what Barr might have meant by it, if its sentiment was not Islamophobic or racist.

Although Roseanne was quickly canceled, Goodman and the rest of the cast, minus Barr, will be back on a new ABC spin-off, The Conners, this fall.

As Goodman noted, Barr agreed to relinquish her rights to the new show, as well as any share in its profits. “I sent her an e-mail and thanked her for that,” he said. “I did not hear anything back, but she was going through hell at the time. And she’s still going through hell.”

But make no mistake: Goodman is glad to be back on The Conners. The actor said he immediately told the network “I’m your boy” when asked to return. That’s a far cry from how he felt about the show’s original 1997 finale, to which Goodman said his response was “good riddance.”

“The material had run its course after about six years, but we stayed on for nine,” Goodman said. “But then I missed it. And it was such a gas last year. We were all a team, even more than before.” That said, Goodman knows he and the cast face a monumental task: proving that this show is worth all the controversy it’ll inevitably stir, and that it can retain the original show’s fan base even without its title matriarch. As for what his character might actually be doing when we meet Dan again on The Conners? “I guess he’ll be mopey and sad because his wife’s dead.”

Brantley Gilbert has stopped his shows in the past for various reasons — including the birth of one of his children — but recently he put things on pause for one of his team members to propose.

The country singer shared a video of the moment on social media.

Gilbert claims he is having technical difficulties and requests the help of Brandon, who works on his team. But things get a little fishy when he invited Brandon’s girlfriend Lia to the stage to aid in fixing the problem.

“Sorry, this may be a little unprofessional, but this is one of my guy’s girlfriends here. She’s gonna kinda help us figure this out,” he tells the crowd.

He leads her to the center of the stage and has her face the audience as she looks at his “broken” transmitter for his inner ear monitors. That’s when Brandon, who is behind them, drops down to one knee.

It doesn’t take long for Lia to turn around and realize what’s happening. The crowd goes nuts as she crumples down onto the stage.

Eventually, she composes herself enough to walk over to Brandon and eagerly accept his proposal.

Brantley Gilbert Helps Fan With Proposal

It’s not the first time Gilbert has helped someone pose the life-changing question to their significant other. He’s been involved in special moments before, like in 2017 when a fan named Justin proposed to his girlfriend Julia.

The country hitmaker has also had to stop his show for other reasons. In Nov. 2024, Gilbert abruptly interrupted his show in order to deliver his own baby. His wife Amber went into labor mid-show while on the tour bus. Not only was he there for the delivery, he was an active participant helping their midwife in the entire process.

The experience was wild, no doubt, and Gilbert says the couple are officially done having children.

Ariana Grande has seemingly reacted to Carrie Underwood’s performance at the presidential inauguration.

Underwood, 41, sang “America the Beautiful” at the inauguration of President Donald Trump on Monday, Jan. 20 in Washington, D.C.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris was seated behind the country star as she sang — and a photo of the politician during the performance was shared to Instagram by writer and social media star Evan Ross Katz.

“Kamala Harris evoking Coco Montrese (‘Girl, find the note’) watching Carrie Underwood at today’s chilling Inauguration,” Katz captioned the post in a nod to RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Montrese, who famously told a contestant to “find the note” in 2016 confessional.

Grande, 31, was among the more than 22,000 “likes” on the Instagram post. The Wicked star previously shared that she’d voted for Harris in a selfie she shared to her Instagram Stories encouraging her followers to vote.

Reps for Grande and Underwood did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Underwood faced technical difficulties that delayed her performance inside the Capitol rotunda, and she ultimately sang a cappella, asking attendees to join her.

“You know the words,” she said, as people in the crowd including former President Joe Biden and Harris sang along.

After finishing the song, the American Idol alum shook hands with Trump and his Vice President JD Vance before exiting the stage.

Other performances throughout Trump’s inaugural events included the Village People, Nelly and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Underwood previously addressed her decision to perform at the swearing-in ceremony in a statement shared with PEOPLE.

“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

Underwood had kept her political views private for years because, as she told The Guardian in 2019, “nobody wins.”

“It’s crazy. Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it, like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that,” she told the publication at the time.

The performance took place amid Ballerini’s dog’s cancer diagnosis, making it deeply emotional for the country star.

Before taking the stage in front of the panel of The Voice coaches, the songstress was seen rehearsing with her coach, Ballerini. Rey explained that she chose to deliver her rendition of this heartfelt tune because of the personal connection she shares with the lyrics that remind us how some of the smallest things in life are the most valuable.

“This song is about the idea that memories are worth a lot more than just money. I know my parents worked so hard to make our house our home. I remember us playing games and we danced together in this kitchen and we planted flowers together. There’s actually my handprints in the concrete in the backyard. That’s the value of a memory is like this place holds everything,” she stated proudly.

Ballerini admitted that hearing Rey sing this tune marked the first time she really noticed her raw storytelling abilities because “this song doesn’t have too much of a dynamic, and so she was really forced to make it all about the story.”

There are so many powerful lines in this song, but one in particular caused Ballerini to suddenly burst into tears. She revealed that hearing Rey sing, “And over there, under that wide oak tree/ Beneath the cross is where my best buddy’s buried,” caused her to breakdown as it references a man talking about his late dog being buried in the backyard of his house. At the time, the “Baggage” singer had just learned that her beloved 9-year-old dog, Dibs, had been diagnosed with heart cancer.

After seeing the episode air this week, she took to social media to explain that there was a lot more that took place in that moment that viewers didn’t get to see in the final cut.

“I just want to say that this was the week dibs my fur baby was diagnosed with heart cancer and we didn’t know if it was days  or weeks or anything more. Angie picked one of the best storytelling country songs I’ve heard in a long time, with a line about the favorite dog being buried, and it was hyper emotional timing for me,” she shared.

Ballerini admits she “tried my best” to be present and be a good leader for Rey, the reality is she was really struggling on the inside. Rey openly shared that one of the things she loves most about Ballerini is the fact that she is “real and authentic” and views being vulnerable as “strength.” So even though she was supposed to be looking to Ballerini for guidance in that moment, she knew the right thing to do was be there for her fellow country singer.

“Angie really gave me the grace to be human, and was a friends to me in that moment,” Ballerini continued in her message. “I can’t say enough about not only the talent on this show, but the heart that you get to see on screen, but also so much that is beyond.”

As of March 20, Ballerini revealed that Dibs had underwent another round of chemo and was being the “strongest boy.” She concluded her most recent message by letting fans know that he is still “living beautifully” and is residing at home with her mom while she is on the road.

Angie Rey’s kindness and undeniable storytelling appeared to impress all four of The Voice coaches, as each of them were locked into her knockouts performance on Monday night. Unfortunately, she lost the round to fellow contestant Iris Herrera, meaning it would have been the end of her time in the competition had coach Michael Bublé not used his steal on her.

“I wanted her to be able to hug her coach before she came to win the show with her new coach,” Bublé joked. “I stole Angie because she’s a modern country artist, she fills that country void on my team and there’s no ending to where this woman can go.”

The Voice continues next Monday, April 7 for The Knockouts Part two, when Adam Levine, Michael Bublé, Kelsea Ballerini and John Legend each pair two artists to perform solo against each other and then choose a winner to move on to the playoffs.

Kelsea Ballerini was caught off guard at a recent show when a fan asked her to sign his divorce decree.

The country singer stopped her show to address the man in the crowd after reading a sign he was holding that read, “Will you help me finish rolling up my welcome mat and sign my divorce decree?”

“I would be honored,” she replies in the video below, almost like a question, with hesitation in her voice. “Wait, to be clear, this is not your divorce papers.”

As the weight of the document starts to sink in, Ballerini starts to second-guess her decision.

“What does this mean, I’m a witness?” she asks, stunned. “Oh, I’m sweating. I’m gonna pass out for sure. Is this legal?”

“I’m so scared,” she adds.

In the end, Ballerini decided not to sign the document for a few reasons: The first is that she doesn’t understand legal jargon or implications. The second is that she’s ready to move past her divorce era.

“Respectfully, I’m really excited to stop being the poster child for divorce,” she says with a smile.

Instead, she wrote a sweet little note on the back of the man’s divorce decree, which seemed to satisfy him.

When Did Kelsea Ballerini Get Divorced?

The singer-songwriter was married to fellow country singer Morgan Evans for five years before they got divorced. The papers were reportedly filed in Aug. 2022, with the separation being finalized on Nov. 15, 2022. She documented this period of her life in her Rolling Up the Welcome Mat EP.

Not long after the divorce, rumors about a romance with actor Chase Stokes started. After denying their connection was more than friendly, Ballerini soft-launched her relationship with the Outer Banks star when she included a photo of the two of them at the 2023 College Football National Championship game in Jan. 2023.

The View cohost Sara Haines has removed literal barriers to break societal barriers with her children, the star revealed on Tuesday morning’s live episode of the talk show.

During a Hot Topics discussion about what age parents should feel uncomfortable being naked around their kids, moderator Whoopi Goldberg urged the audience to teach kids to knock on doors before entering them. “You don’t just walk into people’s rooms or their bathrooms,” the EGOT-winning actress said.

“My kids do not knock,” Haines replied. “We talk about privacy, but we have that conversation while I’m sitting on the toilet and they’re standing there with me.”

After some light discourse from her cohosts, Haines clarified, “I don’t run around nud3, I’m in my bathroom and doing my lotions and things,” before explaining that she and her husband, Max Shifrin, are “deliberate about” teaching their three kids — who range in age from 5 to 9 — how to feel comfortable in their own skin.

“I don’t want my kids to feel that they need to cover up, especially as young kids. I breastfed. My kids didn’t sexualize me; society did. They used to eat from my breasts,” Haines added. “They’ll ask questions still to this day, they’ll walk in, they don’t stare at me while I’m there. They’ll talk about how they’re fighting someone and they hit someone, I’m like, ‘I’ll be out in a minute.’ I don’t want them to feel ashamed of their bodies, either. I’m sure there’s a time that comes where it’s weird, but I think you’ll feel that as a parent. Right now, there are not private doors.”

“You don’t want to be a 12-year-old girl and walk in on your dad or your mom,” she said, laughing.

He stated that some of them had told him that their white girlfriend looked up to Taylor Swift while their girlfriend looked up to Megan The Stallion. He then states the guy asks how many white women he has seen doing the Megan Thee Stallion challenge as opposed to Black women.

He then dove into another story of a friend who relayed that his Black girlfriend started to request money from him as soon as she found out about his NIL money. She wanted her hair and nails done. He then added that the Black women would be upset if they went to places like Chipotle, and she demanded steak houses.

Commissioner Roger Goodell took the stage Thursday for the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, and many players showed up, ready to hear their names called.

Many women online noticed that some players in the NFL Draft who were Black did not have the same color girlfriend on their arm.

Some of those players included Caleb Williams, who hit the red carpet at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit with girlfriend Alina Thyregod by his side.

Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze showed up with girlfriend Alannah Davidson.

Penn State left tackle Olu Fashanu had his girlfriend blocked by his mom from interacting with him after he was selected.

Former NFL running back LeSean McCoy is getting dragged online for telling on NBA legend and Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo as he suggested the 57-year-old was stepping out on his wife around eight years ago.

 

Mutombo, an eight-time All-Star who played for 18 seasons, met his wife Rose in 1995 and married her shortly after.

Speaking on his ‘25/10Show’ podcast, McCoy recalled a story about meeting a female he described as a “baddie” in Atlanta who told him she was seeing the four-time Defensive Player of the Year, who would take her on trips to France.

He said: “She told me he not that type of dude, you know he take good care of me…He don’t take me shopping, he takes me to France. I was like who is the dude? Guess what she said his name was? Dikembe Mutombo. I was like you’re taking him over me? But I get it, yeah he’s taking you shopping from PJ to France, I said babe, keep him.”

 

Fans Rip LeSean McCoy For Mentioning Mutombo’s Name

Fans did not appreciate Shady namedropping Mutombo, especially given that the former NBA center has been happily married for nearly 30 years.

“1. This doesn’t violate bro code cuss that’s not his bro. 2. He violated man code cuss name dropping when the situation could hurt my home is nasty. 3. It’s nasty cuss he ain’t have to say a name at all,” one wrote.

The popular sportscaster, who is slated to be back for another season of NFL coverage on ESPN, is causing a major stir on social media over the latest picture she posted.

Over the weekend, Rutledge took to her Instagram page and shared a bathroom selfie and some other photos.

Her top-notch beauty shouldn’t be too much of a shock as she has been thrilling people with it for well over a decade.

Before her career in sports broadcasting, Rutledge competed in beauty pageants. In 2012, she was crowned Miss Florida, which led to her participation in the Miss America pageant the following year.

Rutledge attended the University of Florida, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. She gained prominence as a reporter for ESPN and the SEC Network. It seems she has gotten past the massive layoffs from the company and that bodes well for her as well as fans who like seeing her.

It’s possible that Kevin Durant’s tenure with the Phoenix Suns ended abruptly tonight. While being guarded by Jabari Smith during the Suns’ game against the Houston Rockets, Durant seemed to twist his ankle and collapse immediately. The Suns led him back to the locker room after helping him up.

Looking more closely at the injury, it appears that KD will have a rough landing. The nature of the damage is complex to determine. Still, considering how he fell and his lengthy history of injuries, it may be reasonable to anticipate that Durant will be sidelined for a while due to whatever ailment he incurred.

Durant was declared out for the remainder of the match. There was no need to risk him playing again and worsening his injury, especially when the Rockets dominated the Suns. The Suns could be better off taking the All-Star to the hospital and starting the testing process sooner rather than later.

Durant’s health greatly influences his trade value, so the Suns also want to protect it. An injury would significantly impact the trade deal they may obtain for him, and they are prepared to let him go in the offseason.

Durant’s injury may be a nightmare for the Suns’ 2024–25 campaign. The club has experienced many problems, but Durant hasn’t been one of them. He has been one of Phoenix’s most pivotal components. Durant’s clutch skills, shot-making ability, and leadership abilities are unmatched. For any postseason ambitions, he could attempt a return amid this injury.

KD is almost averaging 27 points this season, which is pretty impressive for his 16th season in the league. He has been the primary driving force behind the Suns’ attack all season long. Fans will hope to see him playing soon, but for now, we have to wait for his injury update.

I know we say it every time it happens, but that’s because each and every time, it continues to be true.

There might not be a better show in all of sports than Steph Curry going absolutely nuclear on a basketball court.

Each and every time, it’s must watch stuff. Every second he’s on the floor, your eyes are glued to him. The way he navigates off ball around screens, the build up of anticipation starts to grow. Then, once he has the ball, you hold your breath while being on the edge of your seat, just waiting for him to do something ridiculous. When he gets rolling like these true nuclear Steph performances tend to be, as long as it’s not coming against your favorite team there’s nothing like it. Sure other players get hot during an NBA game. We’ve seen guys explode for 60 and 70+ points.

But none of them do it like Steph. It’s why he’s Steph Curry

Ho hum, just a little 52/10/8/5/1 on 16-31 shooting while going 12-20 from deep. Considering Curry had 11 3PM through 3 quarters, it’s actually a little surprising he didn’t at least tie Klay Thompson’s NBA record of 14 3PM. Especially after he hit his 12th with a few minutes to go, it felt like a lock in real time. It wasn’t for a lack of trying as he did have a handful of open looks rim out in the 4th, and it’s not as if 12 3PM in a single game is any sort of failure, but I can’t lie and say it wasn’t surprising to see him not break the record. Even with the Grizzlies selling out to take away his clean looks, every look for Steph Curry is a clean look, even if it’s contested.

Given how important this win was for the Warriors (it moved them into 5th), part of me respects Curry for not forcing things and continuing to make the right basketball play in order to secure the win. The Basketball Gods reward that type of behavior, so, understandably, the Warriors were able to pull this game out down the stretch by some big time makes by Podz and Moody. This will always be one of the true signs of the Warriors Dynasty firing on all cylinders in my opinion. They find ways to win games. If it’s close down the stretch, they’ll figure it out and make enough plays on both ends to secure a win they probably shouldn’t.

Well, let’s see what’s happened since. The Warriors have easily been one of the best teams in the NBA since the trade deadline, standing with the 3rd best record in the NBA at 19-5. They own the 7th best offense, 1st ranked defense, and the 4th best net rating over that timespan. Given that we’re in April, you’re looking at nearly 2 months of basketball with this new look roster. They now sit only 2 back of the Lakers in the loss column for homecourt in the first round. Remember, it wasn’t too long ago this was a Play In team. Now, there’s a chance they start the playoffs at home. If that isn’t enough for you to take them seriously, I’m not sure what you’re watching.

It all comes back to Steph Curry. Look at what this man is doing. This is vintage Steph, the version that we know can backpack a team to an NBA title, because we’ve seen it (sigh). What was the formula of those great Warriors teams of old? Elite defense, Steph going nuclear, and incredible late game execution. Is that not what we’re seeing right now from this version?

Now, as we are seeing in the West, things can change literally within days. Sure, things look good on Tuesday April 1st, but given how tight things are, you really can’t afford something as small as a 2 game slide at this stage of the season. Even now in 5th, with the Warriors at 31 losses, the Grizzlies are still right there (32) as are the Wolves (32 and playing right now) and the Clippers (32). We still have a long way to go until we know for certain how seeds 5-7 shake out, but one thing I’m betting on is this version of Steph figuring it out. The Warriors have won 3 in a row and 7 of their last 10, and a few more down the stretch could go a long way in avoiding a disastrous situation where you now have to face OKC in Round 1.
