Detroit Lions defensive lineman John Cominsky has decided to call it a career before his 30th birthday.

On his Instagram account, the 29-year-old John Cominsky announced that he’s retiring from football. Cominsky decided his string of injuries that took over his “desire to continue playing” and wish to spend more time with his wife and two children.

Cominsky thanked the Lions and Atlanta Falcons (the team that drafted him in 2019) in the heartwarming message:

Multiple Lions players commented on Cominsky’s post, including star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson writing, “Gonna miss ya dude🥲.” Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown commented with a “🥂” emoji, with defensive end Josh Paschal writing, “Love bro! Congratulations and enjoy retirement!!”

Cominsky spent five seasons on the Charleston Golden Eagles football team before the Falcons selected him in the fourth round (135h overall) in 2019. He saw limited time as a rookie, recording 0.5 sacks and two pass breakups in 10 game appearances.

After three seasons in Atlanta, the Lions picked up John Cominsky off waivers in the 2022 offseason. Cominsky became a starter on Dan Campbell’s defense, tallying four sacks and three pass defenses (both career bests) in 14 games.

Cominsky made a career-high 11 starts in the 2023 season, recording two sacks in 16 games. The Lions won their first division title in 30 years and reached the NFC Championship Game, narrowly losing to the San Francisco 49ers.

Unfortunately, Cominsky missed the entire 2024 season after suffering a torn MCL in a July practice session. He was initially ruled out “indefinitely,” but Cominsky’s recovery took longer than expected as he missed all of 2024.

Nonetheless, it was still a solid five-year career for a little-known fourth-round pick out of a smaller football school. All the best to Cominsky in his retirement.

Charissa Thompson found herself in hot water earlier this year when she admitted she “would make up the report sometimes because, A, the coach wouldn’t come out at halftime or it was too late, and I was like, I didn’t want to screw up the report, so I was like, “I’m just gonna make this up.’”

“No coach is gonna get mad if I say, ‘Hey, we need to stop hurting ourselves, we need to be better on third down, we need to stop turning the ball over and do a better job of getting off the field,’” she added. “Like, they’re not gonna correct me on that. I’m like, it’s fine, I’ll just make up the report.”

She apologized for choosing “the wrong words” while making it clear she never attributed anything to a coach or a player falsely. Luckily for her, it did not affect her current job.

In 2012, Andrews moved to Fox Sports from ESPN, where she continued her work as a sports reporter and host. She has been involved in Fox’s NFL and MLB coverage, as well as significant events like the Super Bowl.

Andrews remains on Fox’s top NFL team, alongside Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen, and sometime in the future, Tom Brady when he finally starts his broadcasting career after signing a massive deal well before he would hang up his cleats for the second and final time.

The NFL has made a significant rule change for ‘Thursday Night Football’ that should make every owner, coach, executive, player and fan happy.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the team owners just approved a new Thursday Night Football “flex” rule that allows the league to move a Sunday game into the TNF slot “with 21 days’ notice.”

As Pelissero noted, previous flex rules allowed the league to flex Thursday night games 28 days in advance. The new rule shortens that window to three weeks, meaning fans will be treated to (hopefully) far better TNF games going forward.

The Denver Broncos’ Week 16 road game against the Los Angeles Chargers was flexed into Thursday Night Football in place of the Cleveland Browns-Cincinnati Bengals game. At the time, the Broncos and Chargers were in the AFC playoff race, and both went on to earn wild card berths.

At the time of the Thursday Night Football flex announcement, the Bengals (4-7) and Browns (2-8) were among the worst teams in the AFC. The Browns finished 3-4, while the Bengals caught fire down the stretch to finish just outside the playoffs with a 9-8 record.

In 2023, the NFL introduced a new “flexing” system that allows them to switch out the ‘Monday Night Football’ schedules as well.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is happy to be back on the ground this week after what he experienced on Friday.

It was supposed to be a celebration for starting a new UFL season for the league owner, but it turned into something vastly different.

Johnson was supposed to attend the opening game of the UFL season in Houston, Texas, on Friday. However, he was forced to return home to Hawaii.

Speaking on social media platform X, the WWE superstar revealed he was heading to the event as planned before the captain of his plane suddenly had to come out and inform him that they would need to turn back due to a malfunction.

“Last night, we had some issues with the plane,” Johnson began his video.

“About 35-40 minutes into the flight, the pilot comes back to me, he gets down on one knee, and he faces me, face-to-face, and it’s just me on the plane, just me and the crew.

The Rock continued: “He says, ‘Mr. Johnson, I’m sorry to inform you, but we cannot continue to fly over the ocean, we have a problem, we have to turn the plane around and we have to land back in Hawaii. You have my word, I will land you back safely on the island.’”

It was a sobering moment for him as he further explained that he was extremely thankful for how his captain acted in the circumstances, which kept him calm in an extremely worrying moment.

“I so appreciate his demeanour, his name is Captain David, I appreciate his demeanour in that moment,” he said.

“He explained to me what happened, he said it was a hydraulics issue with overheating, and he said there were some issues we could work out as we’re in the air, and then there’s some that we’re not gonna take a chance, especially over the ocean, and especially when the computer on the airplane is saying, ‘Don’t fly over the ocean anymore, you’ve gotta get back to land.

“I so appreciate the crew, I appreciate them getting us back to land safely, I appreciate God, the universe. I took this as a sign from God and the universe. I wish, though, I was there in Houston, Texas.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Did Not Miss Very Much In Houston

The St. Louis Battlehawks entered the 2025 UFL season with questions about how they would replace AJ McCarron at the QB position, and all it took was one game as they finished with a 31-6 blowout of the Houston Roughnecks.

Quarterback Manny Wilkins completed 17 of 22 passes for 189 yards for the Battlehawks.

He racked up 43 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries on the ground.

The game was never competitive.

It was also a contest where Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was supposed to attend.

Johnson revealed that his private plane, which was traveling from Hawaii to Houston for the United Football League’s 2025 season opener, had a mechanical issue that forced the pilot to return.

As you can see, that malfunction saved him from a terrible game.

Aside from the game, the official attendance figure for the 2025 UFL season opener between the St.Louis Battlehawks and Houston Roughnecks at TDECU stadium was only 7,124.

With less than a month until the NFL Draft, Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam had a lot to state about the 2022 trade that brought Deshaun Watson to Cleveland.

While speaking to reporters at the NFL owner’s meetings in Palm Beach, Florida, on Monday, Jimmy Haslam called the trade for Watson “a swing and miss” in an unexpected admission.

“We took a big swing and miss with Deshaun. We thought we had the quarterback, we didn’t and we gave up a lot of draft picks to get him,” Haslam said in part.

“So we’ve got to dig ourselves out of that hole. [The trade] was an entire organization decision and it ends with Dee and I, so hold us accountable,” Haslam said, via Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.

The Haslams said the quiet part out loud when it came to the 2022 trade that brought quarterback Deshaun Watson to the Browns from the Houston Texans. Not only did it cost them three first-round draft picks, but also a fully-guaranteed $230 million contract over five years.

As we get closer to the NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns hold the No. 2 pick that could firmly find a replacement for Watson.

Fast-forward three years, and the Browns appear to be waiting for the moment they can financially part ways with Watson.

Haslem further made it clear that he hopes the team can land their star quarterback of the future.

The Cleveland Browns recently bought insurance for Deshaun Watson that grants them significant cap relief in 2026 if he doesn’t play in 2025.

Raheem Morris of the Atlanta Falcons was the only NFL head coach absent from the annual photo of each HC during the annual March meetings.

Each March, NFL coaches, executives and owners will meet in Florida to discuss league business matters ahead of the NFL Draft. Brian McCarthy of NFL Communications posted the annual photo of 31 coaches together:

So, where was Raheem Morris while the photo was taken? According to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, the second-year Falcons HC was absent because of “weather-related travel issues.”

Morris was named the Falcons’ new head coach last year after a three-year stint as the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator. Morris was on Atlanta’s coaching staff from 2015 to 2020, finishing out the latter year as their interim HC after Dan Quinn was fired.

There are seven new head coaches for the 2025 NFL season: Ben Johnson (Chicago Bears), Kellen Moore (New Orleans Saints), Pete Carroll (Las Vegas Raiders), Brian Schottenheimer (Dallas Cowboys), Liam Coen (Jacksonville Jaguars), Aaron Glenn (New York Jets) and Mike Vrabel (Tennessee Titans).

Carroll, of course, was previously head coach of the Jets (1994), Patriots (1997-1999) and Seattle Seahawks (2010-2023). Vrabel coached the Tennessee Titans from 2018 to 2023.

Aaron Rodgers has seemingly given a not-so-subtle hint where he will be signing this offseason.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting to hear back on whether Rodgers will sign with them after the two sides met about a potential team-up.

However, behind the scenes, Rodgers appears to be taking steps toward a decision. According to NFL Media, he recently conducted a throwing session with new Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Rodgers had a throwing session with new Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver D.K. Metcalf “over the weekend” at UCLA.

“It is a process for Aaron Rodgers,” he explained on Good Morning Football on Monday from Palm Beach, Fla.

“And my understanding is the latest step in the process was over the weekend, at UCLA, he threw to DK Metcalf. They did have a throwing session, the two of them together, according to sources informed of that workout. So Rodgers, going through the process, and checking all the boxes—and I assume it was a good throwing session with him and Metcalf—so we’ll see if that leads to him saying, ‘You know what, yeah, I’m fully in. I like that guy, I like that target right there.’”

Aaron Rodgers previously met with the Steelers’ coaching staff at their training facility for roughly six hours earlier this month as he considers a possible future destination.

Metcalf, who was dealt to the Steelers earlier this month, would become Rodgers’s de facto No. 1 receiving target should he sign with Pittsburgh.

Besides the Steelers, the New York Giants were also connected to Rodgers in free agency.

I just don’t see that as a thing. I can’t see him in a Pittsburgh uniform. My brain can’t put that together.”

Carrie Underwood went all-in on the latest episode of American Idol on Sunday night (March 23). She was doing everything she could to help contestant Sophia Humbert finesse a rendition of “Before He Cheats.”

“You have a great voice. I feel like a song like that though, there has to be a little rage in there somewhere,” Underwood told the budding singer after she finished.

“Do you get angry? You gotta dig down deep,” she asked Humbert, who seemed nervous.

Fellow Idol judge Luke Bryan had an idea to help her find her rage: The whole crew would take a drive somewhere outside, where they could beat the daylights out of an old red pickup truck.

Don’t worry: Everyone wore safety goggles.

Watch below as Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” comes on and Underwood herself steps up and keys the biscuits out of the truck while the contestant sings.

As the part of the song about taking a Louisville Slugger to the headlights comes on, the contestant does just that while singing, taking a bat to the vehicle as the judges are cheering her on.

After the audition, Lionel Richie, Bryan, Underwood and even Ryan Seacrest got to take turns destroying the old truck with a bat — many felonies to be had, if this were not a television show.

In the end, Humbert was given a ticket to Hollywood — we will be seeing more of her as the reality competition progresses.

Underwood teased what was to come in Instagram Reel posted before the show aired. It looked familiar. The superstar was standing in front of that red truck, prepared to key the side of it.

“Guess what I’m doing? I’m digging my key into the side of this pretty little souped up … you gotta tune to figure out what’s going on,” Underwood remarked.

Even non-country fans knew what she was up to — “Before He Cheats” is her signature song, and it tells the story of a scorned woman who goes to town on her partner’s truck after he cheats on her. The song has gone seven-times Platinum since its 2005 release.
