WHAT’S GOING ON: GMA Host Michael Strahan TALKS WEDDINGS Live On Air – Is a Big Deal Coming?

Michael Strahan and his co-anchors on Good Morning America aren’t afraid of a bit of good-natured ribbing, and when George Stephanopoulos is around, it’s almost a guarantee.

Michael, 52, and George, 63, got their day on a similar path on the latest iteration of GMA, when the former jokingly asked the latter what Olympic sport he’d medal in. Their co-anchor for the day Linsey Davis joked it’d probably be breakdancing.

Later in the show, when James Longman reported live from Paris on the synchronized swimming event, he also joked that George needed to “get in one of those swimsuits,” to enthusiastic cheers from Michael.

“Don’t hold your breath, James,” the dad-of-two quipped back from the studio, and Michael, who began chanting “I second that,” ended the segment with: “Oh George, one day I’m gonna get ya!” leaving his co-anchors chuckling.

Further along in the show, though, George got to get his jab in for the day as well, leaving Michael and the rest of the team in the studio in stitches with his quip. GMA’s culture segment featured a more novel cover story, of Americans nationwide hosting wedding ceremonies where they asked attendees to pay to attend.

Before the story began, George confidently leaned back and started off with: “Michael is paying close attention to our next story. It’s our GMA cover story on how couples are cutting costs on their wedding by selling tickets to the wedding.”

Those behind-the-scenes began breaking out into laughter as B-roll played and Michael turned to George, unable to contain his own laughing fit. “Explain it all, Erielle,” George said, turning the attention over to their correspondent Erielle Reshef.

Erielle also said through her giggling: “I’m staying out of that one, I don’t know what that is!” while Linsey, who was subbing in for Robin Roberts, continued to have a good time between the two joking anchors.

After presenting the segment, the four sat down to discuss the story further, with Erielle opining that someone willing to pay to attend a friend’s wedding should just reason that their “presence is the present” instead of giving an actual gift.

“I guess they had good friends, none of us were willing,” George joked, and Michael added in response: “I’m looking at this house and I want you to come and say hello, will you help me pay for my house?”

From 1999 to 2007, he was married to Jean Muggli, and welcomed twin daughters Isabella and Sophia with his ex-wife. Between 2009-2014, he was engaged to Nicole Mitchell, Eddie Murphy’s ex-wife. But since 2016, he has been dating Kayla Quick.

Michael Strahan’s warm-up routine on GMA has nothing on his NFL pre-game antics. The TV host was a celebrated American Football star before launching a career in television.

For 15 years, Michael played as a defensive end for the New York Giants and had quite the routine ahead of his games.

During an appearance on In Depth with Graham Bensinger, Michael confessed he liked to get into the heads of his opponents, and did so in an unexpected way.

“As the years went on, I even learned myself, football players try to look mean in a game program,” he said of the individual photos of the team members.

“They try to look so mean. But if you look at somebody in the game program and you hear they may be mean and they look like this,” he said while smiling at his host. “A mean person smiling is an insane person.”

An example was then provided with an image of Michael in a program appearing on screen.

Sure enough, with his broad smile and glint in his eye, the star had an unnerving edge about him.

“So I’d be in the program doing glamour shots,” he added.

“I would look at my socks,” he explained. “Not verbally but go, ‘hey which foot do you want to be on today?’ Like, I didn’t speak out loud to my socks because my teammates would’ve thought I was nuts.”

However, he revealed that in his mind his socks would “debate sometimes.”

Michael said he felt “clumsy” if he put the socks on the wrong feet. “I had to listen to the socks,” he quipped.

The order in which he put his clothes on played a big part in his pre-game routine too and he said he would spend time making sure it was all “perfectly timed out.”

“I had a whole routine of doing stuff,” Michael recalled. “Everything was in an order. Get there at a certain time, lay out my uniform, put things on in a certain order at a certain time.”

While Michael’s pre-game routine may be deemed unusual by people not in the game, he’s by far the only sports star to have a ritual or superstition.

Luckily, Isabella is in a far better place now, and following a gruelling few months of chemo and multiple surgeries, she finally was able to ring the bell signalling the end of her treatment in June.

The college student has been treated at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center in Durham, North Carolina, and along the way she’s been updating fans on Youtube of her progress.

When she first opened up about her cnc3r battle back in January, Isabella said: “I didn’t notice anything was off till probably like October 1,” noting that her first symptoms were simply headaches, though it then evolved into nausea, and she “couldn’t walk straight.”

After her father promptly encouraged her to go to the doctor and have a round of tests done, they discovered a fast-growing 4-centimeter tumor – larger than a gold ball – in the back of her head. She has since had two surgeries to remove it.

Michael also shared: “I don’t really remember much,” adding: “I just remember trying to figure out how to get to L.A. ASAP. And it just doesn’t feel real. It just didn’t feel real.”

Throughout her cnc3r treatment, Michael and his long-term partner, Kayla Quick, have been by Isabella’s side, along with her mom, Jean Strahan and twin sister Sophia. Michael is also father to two grown-up children from his first marriage to Wanda Hutchins – Michael Jr. and Tanita.

Michael Strahan shared a motivational post with his fans

Last week, he shared another uplifting post which read: “The juice is worth the squeeze. When we push ourselves, sometimes it hurts. But when we realise we’ve got more to give, we put ourselves in the position of getting more.”

Amy Robach was one of the first to respond, writing: “Hell yeah”. Michael used his own inspiring advice during his recent coronavirus battle.

The former footballer tested positive for the viral disease in January and spent several weeks isolating at his home in New York, with the news of his illness being announced on GMA by his co-stars after he was noticeably absent from work.

Luckily, Michael has since made a full recovery and returned to the ABC studios in February to a warm welcome from his co-stars and viewers at home.

Prior to going back to work, he shared a video message on GMA, where he detailed his experience with the deadly disease.

He said: “Just wanted to say thank you to everybody for your well wishes, and thank you for everyone who reached out and sent me the get-well wishes and all the advice on how to feel better.

“I just want to let you know that I do feel a lot better and I’m just thankful to be on the other side of it.”

When fans saw Michael throw his hat into the James Bond ring, folks were ready to see it happen.

“Love this! Yes, Michael Strahan!!!!” one person exclaimed in the comments. “I’d support Strahan as Bond! Mike is awesome!” another exclaimed. “Why not him? It would be cool,” a different follower added. ” DO IT!!!,” someone else wrote.

While we’re not sure Michael convinced Andy, the CEO stated he just feels fortunate to be able to have any influence on future storylines for the franchise.

“I think we feel so lucky to have the opportunity to take the Bond franchise into the next generation,” Andy added. “We haven’t gotten that far yet.”

Zee, 44, continues her role on GMA and has not announced any professional changes or family updates. She shares two sons, Adrian and Miles, with her husband, Ben Aaron. As of June, there is no official statement from ABC News confirming her departure.

The meteorologist appeared in a June 3 GMA promotional video titled Coming Home, tied to the show’s upcoming 50th anniversary, underscoring her continued involvement with the program. In a USA TODAY interview, she discussed her early morning routine, saying, “I can’t imagine having a leisurely morning. But I take it, and I make 3:45 a.m. feel as leisurely as possible.”

Zee also commented on dealing with negative online feedback. After a user wrote, “You’re not aging well,” she responded in March 2025, “My first reaction (to the comment) was, ‘Thank God, I get to get older.’” She added, “There (were) a lot of years in my 20s and teens where I was like − like a lot of other people – ‘I don’t even know if I’m worth it.’ I’m so lucky to be alive, let alone aging… Your opinion is that I’m not aging well, but the point is, I’m aging.”

Zee stated that she has “empathy for these people who are so sad, or they need to get that out. And I take it that way.”

As heat waves continue to spread across the U.S., Good Morning America‘s Ginger Zee is clarifying one aspect of her recent on-air weather reports.

The meteorologist addressed “heat index haters” in a Tuesday, June 24, Instagram video after viewers expressed their dislike of the ABC morning show displaying both the actual and feels-like temperatures.

“We show heat index because that is what a human feels,” she explained in the clip. “If I were forecasting for inanimate objects or your car or the sidewalk, I would keep it with temperature, definitely. But heat index includes the level of humidity and the level that your body can not evaporate to cool itself. So actually, heat index is the most important number that you need to know. “

Zee went on to note that reporting the heat index is “not new” and that doing so is “important.” She added, “I don’t get it. I don’t get why you hate it, but stop hating it. We will try to show both whenever possible. But also, if we have a short amount of time, knowing what the peak feels like is, that’s what we’re gonna show.”

On top of the Instagram video, Zee wrote, “Heat index started being widely used in the early 1980s. And before heat index it was called TEMPERATURE HEAT INDEX.”

She also showed one fan’s comment asking her to “please post the real temps.” The user wrote, “The ‘feels like’ temperature is like saying, ‘Bake this recipe in the ‘feels like’ 800° and for the time of ‘feels like 2000 minutes’ — when you don’t have air conditioning in the kitchen and the kids are eagerly waiting [for] dessert. I just need the old fashioned, regular temperature reported.”

Zee emphasized her comments in the post’s caption, writing, “Heat index isn’t new. It isn’t ‘made for tv’… it’s made for humans and safety. That’s why we show it. The National Weather Service bases its warnings on it. That is all.”

On Tuesday’s episode of GMA, Zee reported that temperature high records for June could be broken across the country amid the country’s current heat wave. “Philadelphia could go for their first 100 [degrees] in 13 years,” she stated. “You’re walking out the door, the temperature is 87 but it already feels like 93. That’s in the 7 a.m. hour. Wild, right?”

According to Zee, several states are currently under heat advisory, with some areas facing extreme warnings, such as Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“The National Weather Service doesn’t just put these out for fun,” she told viewers. “What they do is they take the heat, the actual temperature, they add the humidity, and you get the heat index.”

Chris Hayes suspected that Tucker Carlson would quit Fox News.

Chris Hayes, an American commentator for MSNBC, spoke on his show All In With Chris Hayes about Carlson’s potential exit from Fox News.

Hayes used his platform to showcase how so many Fox News commentators and hosts vocally oppose vines and related regulations. In fact, he cited data from left-leaning researcher Media Matters for America suggesting that in 99 percent of the days over the past six months, the Fox website shared undermining stories about vines.

The big issue for many of these commentators, including Carlson, wasn’t necessarily the C0V1D-19 vines themselves, but v1n3 m@ndates. President Biden imposed a v1n3 mandate on large private businesses (with an alternative of weekly virus testing for those who didn’t want to or couldn’t get vinated).

Ironically, the Fox company had an even stricter v1n3 m@ndate at one point and required daily C0V1D-19 testing for those who didn’t get vinated. Fox also had mask mandates in place at its in-person offices, as evidenced by a fully masked Washington Bureau reopening event.

Meanwhile, Carlson highlighted people who left jobs that required vines on his show. Hayes thought that Carlson would quit at Fox News.

Did Tucker Carlson get vinated or take daily tests?

While working at Fox News, Carlson had to either get vinated or test daily against C0V1D-19. In the past, he touted the tyranny of medical control often on his show. Still, he might have complied with Fox’s rules. As Hayes put it, the alternative would be that Carlson “just does not believe any of the stuff he’s saying, and it’s all just a cr@v3n, cyn1cal act for ratings while he himself is [vinated].”

Past rumors of Carlson quitting Fox proved to be fake, until now.

In 2020, a screenshot of Tucker announcing that he was leaving Fox News and going to far-right platform NewsMax swirled on Parler. The highly conservative social media platform was big news at the time, although its popularity has since dwindled.

Ultimately, it came to light that the screenshot had been doctored. It happened just as many Trmp voters were upset about a supposed “stolen election.” The election proved to be legitimate, but viewers were upset that Fox News wasn’t covering what they wanted, even if that coverage would have been fake. The NewsMax post wasn’t real and Carlson stayed at his job on the Fox show.

However, on April 24, 2023, Fox News reported and Carlson would no longer be working at the network. Did Carlson quit or did Fox News fire him? Fox did share an announcement.

In its announcement, Fox News said the network and Carlson agreed to go their separate ways. A spokesperson for Fox News Media added, “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.” Carlson hasn’t commented yet. So, the exact circumstances surrounding his departure aren’t known.

Carlson’s last day with Fox News was April 21, 2023. Tucker Carlson Tonight has been replaced with an interim program called Fox News Tonight, which will air at 8:00 p.m. EST. While the network seeks a new face to fill Carlson’s shoes, it will have “Fox News personalities” rotate as hosts.

Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show had been airing since 2016. News of Carlson’s departure broke just a few days after Fox settled a $1.6 billion d3amati0n lawsu1t with Dominion Voting Systems. Rather than go to trial, Fox opted to settle for $787 million.

As if that news wasn’t enough to swallow, Carlson’s departure happened around the same time Don Lemon tweeted that he had been fired from CNN.
