Leo Woodall is gearing up to star in a brand new Netflix series alongside Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz.

The actor, known for his role in The White Lotus, has been cast as the lead in Vladimir, an eight-part limited series that was first announced in March.

Weisz, who bagged the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2006 for her performance in The Constant Gardener, will not only star in the series but also serve as an executive producer.

The drama, based on Julia May Jonas’ 2022 novel of the same name, revolves around a married woman who becomes smitten with her new co-worker.

The official synopsis states: “As a woman’s (Weisz) life unravels, she becomes obsessed with her captivating new colleague (Woodall).

“Full of s3xy secrets, dark humor and complex characters, Vladimir is about what happens when a woman goes hell-bent to turn her fantasies into reality,” reports the Manchester Evening News.

Jonas, the original author, will adapt the story for the screen, working alongside showrunner Kate Robin, known for her work on Netflix’s Dead To Me. Both will also serve as executive producers, with Bad Sisters actress Sharon Horgan joining the production team.

The novel by Jonas delves into intricate themes of obsession and gender, which are expected to be explored in the drama.

“With Kate Robin’s expertise in crafting layered, darkly comedic female stories, a script that deftly examines the complexity of attraction and moral ambiguities, and the incomparable Rachel Weisz leading the cast, this project is a powerhouse collaboration of talented women.

“We can’t wait for our fans to be as obsessed with Vladimir as we are,” Netflix’s vice president of comedy series, Tracey Pakosta, teased.

Actress Horgan, who also co-founded the production company Merman, added: “I fell in love with Julia’s writing from the very first paragraph.

“I feel incredibly lucky and excited for Merman to bring Vladimir to life alongside Small Dog. Having the opportunity to partner with Netflix and having Rachel on board is a thrill and speaks volumes about the brilliance of the scripts.”

Vladimir serves as Woodall’s second leading role for the streaming giant. Just last year, the London-born star won over audiences as Dexter Mayhew in the romantic drama One Day, based on David Nicholls’ bestseller.

Another EastEnders exit is on the way, with one star leaving the BBC soap after two years.

Anna Knight will leave Walford, as actress Molly Rainford is confirmed to be leaving the soap later this year. A BBC spokesperson confirmed the news to The Mirror, while it’s not known when the star’s final scenes will air exactly.

According to a source it was a mutual decision between actress Molly and soap bosses, following new Executive Producer Ben Wadey taking over the soap. It’s claimed Molly is ready for new ventures, while details on Anna’s exit remain under wraps for now.

The BBC told us on Thursday: “We can confirm that Molly Rainford will be leaving EastEnders later this year, and we wish her all the best for the future.” Anna’s biggest storylines have included her being sp1ked, being revealed as Cindy Beale’s daughter, and her love triangle with Bobby Beale and Freddie Slater.

A source confirmed the decision behind the exit, and said to The Sun: “New boss Ben Wadey is making sweeping changes on the show and his decision coincided with Mollie deciding she wanted to pursue other challenges.”

They added: “New boss Ben Wadey is making sweeping changes on the show and his decision coincided with Molly deciding she wanted to pursue other challenges.

“She’s hugely talented and wants to spread her wings and see what else is out there for her.” Molly’s character Anna arrived in 2023 as part of the Knight family, with dad George, sister Gina and stepmother Elaine Peacock. They took over The Queen Vic, and soon it was revealed Anna was Cindy’s secret daughter.

Anna’s love interest Freddie, played by Bobby Brazier, is also leaving the show but it’s not clear if the characters will depart together. Also leaving are cousins Bernadette Taylor and Felix Baker, played by Clair Norris and Matthew James Morrison.

As for Molly, an insider added: “Molly came into the show two years ago, and in that time has been trusted with some great storylines.

Clair's exit was also reported by the same publication

“It’s just so happened that when Molly was considering other options in her career, a meeting was held to discuss the future of the character, and both parties were in mutual agreement that it was the right time for Anna Knight to wave goodbye to Walford.”

Clair’s exit was also reported by the same publication. A source recently told The Sun: “Every time a soap gets a new boss they want to make their own changes – it’s nothing personal. The writing has been on the wall for Bernie for some time so it wasn’t really a surprise to Clair.”

“She was the last Taylor standing and it’s time to close the chapter on them and let Clair go on to do other things.” While another insider told the publication that “characters have to leave for new stories to begin” but that Clair will be missed.

    Glastonbury
Glastonbury is shaping up for another epic weekend

BBC bosses risk falling foul of rock legend Neil Young just days before his Glastonbury gig. The Heart of Gold singer, 79, is one of the biggest names on the bill but it is still unclear how much of his Saturday performance will be on TV. Young is still wrangling with the BBC about coverage. Insiders suspect he will agree to letting just a handful of songs go out on TV or BBC iPlayer. Whether they will be live or part of an edited highlights package is still unclear. A BBC schedule of live sets released to the public omits Neil Young, while mentioning headliners such as Charli xcx and Doechii who play other stages on Saturday.

Bosses will have to tread carefully after the star pulled out of the festival earlier this year citing concerns about the BBC’s “corporate control”. He said in January: “We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in.

“It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being.”

A BBC spokeswoman said: “We aim to bring audiences as many performances as possible from the Pyramid Stage, and our schedules and plans continue to be finalised, right up to and during the festival.”

Young has made principled stands recently. He blocked his music from Spotify for two years, saying a podcaster on the platform had spread vaccine misinformation. Should Neil Young let the BBC air his Glastonbury set? Take our poll below, and if you can’t see it click here

This year, he has also refused to let Ticketmaster use dynamic pricing for his forthcoming tour. When Young played Glastonbury in 2009 only five songs were televised.

Speaking at the time Mark Cooper, then executive producer of the BBC’s Glastonbury coverage, said: “Neil Young’s career has been conducted on his own terms.

“They believe in the live event and retaining its mystery and that of their artist. They have decided to make one song available online over the weekend to give a flavour of his set. That’s Rockin’ in the Free World and that’s their decision.

“You probably won’t find too many Neil Young performances available freely on TV or online.”

Elsewhere in the Glastonbury controversy, Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for Kneecap to be pulled from the line-up. The band was due to perform in the 2025 festival, but the PM doesn’t think it would be appropriate due to recent events.

He made the statement after Kneecap member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh appeared in court as he was charged with a t3rr0r 0ff3nce. The incident was relating to the musician allegedly displaying a flag and making remarks in support of the proscribed t3rr0rist 0rgan1sation Hezb0llah at a concert in November last year.

Liam Ó hAnnaidh goes by the stage name Mo Chara and was bailed until later in the summer, which means he is able to play at Glastonbury. The festival will kick off on June 25 up until June 30.

When asked by The Sun if he thinks Kneecap should perform at the annual festival, Starmer said: “No, I don’t. I think we need to come down really clearly on this.

“I won’t say too much, because there’s a court case on, but I don’t think that’s appropriate.” The band are scheduled to perform on the West Holts Stage on Saturday.

    Blue Peter
Blue Peter star Christopher Trace di3d penniless after nine years on the show(Image: BBC)

A Blue Peter icon di3d penniless after a nine-year stint on the BBC children’s show. Christopher Trace kick-started his presenting career at 25 in 1958 and was the one to introduce the inaugural episode alongside co-host Leila Williams.

His career trajectory soared from there. He secured a regular presenting gig on the BBC Schools programme Signpost in 1961, holding the role for four years. Prior to his presenting days, he had an acting career, featuring in films like the 1959 release The Hound of the Baskervilles and 1960’s Urge to Kill.

Regrettably, things took a turn for the worse for the star. By 1967, Blue Peter chiefs were keen to replace him on the show, labelling him as challenging to work with on-set.

    Christopher Trace
Christopher Trace launched the programme in the fifties(Image: BBC)

Matters worsened when his wife Margaret Cattrall sought a divorce following Trace’s inf1delity with a 19-year-old during a Blue Peter trip to Norway. Christopher and his wife Meg were parents to two children, Jonathan and Jessica, reports the Express.

Although he continued to work for BBC Radio and BBC Norwich for the subsequent six years, Trace exited Blue Peter in 1967 and gambled on a new business venture that ultimately drained his life savings.

He made a brief comeback to Blue Peter for its 20th anniversary in 1978, but largely withdrew from his media career and ended up serving pints in a Norwich pub and working as a taxi driver.

One source reminisced: “I remember him being strong on screen on BBC East. He was only there as his wife had kicked him out, he’d lost all his money and was drinking and eventually he went off to run a pub in Norwich.”

In the twilight of his career, Trace turned his hand to a variety of odd jobs, including taking on the role of general manager at an engineering factory. It was here that he tragically lost two toes in an industrial acc1dent and subsequently ceased going to work.

Having been declared bankrupt in 1973 – just two years following his marriage to Prudence Day – the television personality sadly passed away at the young age of 59 in 1992 due to oesophageal cancer.

At the time of his passing, he resided in Walthamstow and was visited by presenter Valerie Singleton and editor Biddy Baxter in hospital during his final days.

Step-in host Robert Rinder, 47, presented the programme as he was joined by the likes of journalist Carole Malone, 70, and Radzi Chinyanganya, 38, in the studio.

But some watching at home didn’t agree with what Carole said throughout the whole episode as she expressed her opinion on topics, and her no-nonsense attitude certainly ruffled a few feathers.

During a discussion about Narinder Kaur’s critique of Sicilian food, Carole didn’t hold back and asked her: ‘Why are you sh0uting?!’ as they continued to argue about their thoughts.

As Narinder explained her thoughts, Carole snapped: ‘Can someone else get in?!’

Narinder told her: ‘I know good food.’

Call The Midwife – Officially ENDS its 15-season journey, leaving UK viewers stunned and regretful – forcing the BBC to reassure fans and Sh0ckingly Reveal NEW SPIN-OFF PROJECTS that revive fan “Excitement”!

Beloved BBC series Call The Midwife will reportedly come to a close after its 15th series next year.

The heartwarming show first aired in 2012 and has since put out 14 series, totalling to more than 100 episodes following the nurses and nuns in Poplar.

A Christmas special for this year has already been announced, with the cast said to be currently at work filming for next year’s series.

However, according to The Daily Star, season 15 will be the show’s last, as bosses want the popular drama to ‘go out on a high’.

A source told the publication: ‘After years of drama and countless births, Call The Midwife is coming to an end. The team have decided it’s time to draw the show to a close and bow out.

‘This is the last we’ll see of these much-loved characters. Storylines will tie up a lot of loose ends. It’s a bittersweet time for the cast and crew. They’re all sad it’s coming to an end, but they want to make sure the show gets the ending it deserves.’

A Christmas special for this year has already been announced, with the cast said to be currently at work filming for next year’s series

However, the insider teased that there could be a special return episode one day in the future, saying: ‘The writers are also open to the idea of reviving Call The Midwife for a special one day in the future. It’s a case of never say never.’

Earlier this year, the show’s creator, Heidi Thomas hinted the longstanding drama may take a break from production in the future.

She told Radio Times in February: ‘Those of us who are most invested with the show, cast and producers alike, who have been there since the beginning, it is our lives.

‘I don’t believe Call the Midwife will ever end. But I do think we might take a break at some point.’

The screenwriter added that there was an ‘ongoing conversation’ each year where they discuss if there is an ‘end point’ to the show and what they want to ‘work towards’.

‘So if we do take a break, it will be with a view to looking at other aspects of Call the Midwife,’ Heidi explained, before hinting that a spin-off may be on the cards too.

The BBC said of the show’s future: ‘The BBC would like to reassure fans that Call The Midwife will remain at the heart of the BBC for years to come.

‘As previously announced, there are two Christmas specials, a new series, a film and prequel series, before a sixteenth series in due course. Call the Midwife isn’t going anywhere.’

In May, the BBC confirmed a two-part Call The Midwife Christmas special is being prepared and will be set in Hong Kong and the East End.

It will be followed by eight new hour-long episodes from January 2026 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The new instalments will launch into 1971 and the nurses will tackle several issues including ‘premature birth, placenta previa, kidney cancer, tuberculosis and slavery’.

At the start, senior members of the Nonnatus House staff head to Hong Kong on a mercy mission and while they’re away, the younger midwives are left to help the local community alone.

Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter) experiences a huge change in mindset and the ‘energy reverberates throughout series 15’.

What’s more, the women’s liberation movement is in full swing and several ladies burn their bras outside of the convent.

In another treat for viewers, a Call The Midwife film is also set to be produced and will be based in 1972.

While a prequel series is also in the works for next year and will dive into the streets of Poplar during World War Two.

Speaking about the prequel, Heidi said: ‘The opening of new doors at Nonnatus House feels profoundly emotional, and yet just right.

‘I have never run out of stories for our midwives, and I never will. But having wept, laughed, and raged my way from 1957 to 1971, I found myself yearning to delve into the deeper past.’

She reflected how the East End during the Blitz was ‘extraordinary’ and ‘filled with loss, togetherness, courage and joy’.

Heidi added: ‘The bombs fell, the babies kept on coming, and the Sisters kept on going.’

The writer teased what was in store for the prequel and said: ‘There will be so much in the prequel for our wonderful, loyal fans, including the appearance of some familiar (if much younger!) faces.

‘As the classic Call the Midwife series moves further into the 1970s, it also seems the perfect time for our much-loved regulars to take a short break from Poplar and test themselves in an unfamiliar landscape.

‘The rise in hospital births, and changes in the NHS, have clipped their wings, and this is their chance to take flight and work out what really matters.

‘Whilst the location of the film remains top-secret, I can say it is going to look absolutely fantastic on the big screen!’

Beeb boss Lindsay Salt described the show as a ‘jewel in the BBC’s crown’.

Call The Midwife: Nurse Crane on the ‘priceless’ nature of vocation

While executive producer Dame Pippa Harris added: ‘In an increasingly competitive viewing environment not only have our loyal fans stayed with us for 14 years, but they’ve been joined by a new, younger generation who have also fallen in love with our characters and the challenges they face.

‘Emboldened by this warmth and enthusiasm, now feels like the right time to expand our world and take our nuns and midwives onto the big screen with our movie, and back in time with the prequel!’

More information about the upcoming film and prequel series are set to be released later in the year.

This year’s series of Call The Midwife averaged 7.8million views, while last year’s Christmas special hit 8.9million viewers.

SH0CKING – Stampede K1||s 30 in India – Journalist and presenter Amol Rajan’s homecoming journey in BBC1’s Amol Rajan Goes To The Ganges leaves viewers deeply worried and moved!

Television people famously worry about working with children and animals. But that’s nothing compared with the dangers of a presenter’s mum loose in front of the camera.

Minutes into Amol Rajan Goes To The Ganges (BBC1), his mother was gleefully recalling: ‘You were very chubby, Amol. Pleasantly plump, I would say.’ Thanks, Mum.

As a child, Amol’s role models were all white: people like cricketer Shane Warne and philosopher Bertrand Russell. (Oh come on, which teenager doesn’t have a picture of Bertrand on their bedroom wall?)

The only Indian who inspired him was his father, a bank official who di3d three years ago. Since then, the Radio 4 Today presenter and University Challenge host hasn’t been quite the same: ‘I’ve been in a bit of a funk.’

In part to heal his gr1ef, but mainly because the BBC suggested it, Amol flew to India to attend the Hindu festival of Kumbh Mela, a huge gathering of pilgrims on the banks of the Ganges.

And I mean huge. During one day, around 70 million people — roughly the population of the UK — squeezed into just 15 square miles.

During the show, the presenter (pictured) heads to India on a pilgrimage to the Kumbh Mela, the largest religious festival in history

They included what is surely the world’s largest collection of thin, old men with very long beards. Not to mention sacred warriors, naked apart from a coating of ash, and lots of people dressed in orange, which represents fire.

As Amol pushed his way through crowds, he was greeted with shouts of ‘Praise be to the Lord Ram!’ and ‘Victory to Lord Shiva’. It was like watching a good-natured football crowd heading for the world’s biggest cup final.

The idea was that Amol would join pilgrims in bathing in the sacred river. He would connect with his religious heritage, even though he describes himself as an atheist, and somehow heal his gr1ef.

Unfortunately, events got in the way. He and his party were stopped before they could reach the holiest point of the river, the confluence of the Ganges and the Yamuna river.

There had been a stampede, just 800m away. Ninety people were injured, and 30 were klled.

    So Amol had to improvise.

This might sound odd if you’re not a Hindu, but he took part in a ceremony in which oatmeal balls represented the souls of his ancestors.

He mixed the balls into a mash, and took this to the river. ‘I am now going to release the sacred oatmeal into the water,’ he said solemnly.

In the river, he ritually released his father’s soul before immersing himself in the water. ‘I’m as high as a kite,’ he admitted. ‘I can feel the cosmic energy flowing through me right now.’

It was rather moving, but I couldn’t help thinking that if anybody had told tough-talking interviewer Amol that they were full of cosmic energy, he would have rolled his eyes to camera.

Race Across The World wrapped up its 9000-Mile journey – and the Special Story of the couple who only came third, Fin Gough (19) and Sioned Cray (20), has taken Social Media by Storm!

BBC Race Across The World star has shared an emotional post after their recent relationship update – and has been flooded with support from fans.

The travel competition sees five pairs of contestants undertake a cross-continental race – without smartphones, credit cards or air travel and on a limited budget.

Fin Gough, 19, and Sioned Cray, 20, came third in the latest series, with mother and son Caroline and Tom completing the near 9,000-mile route from northern China to southern India first.

On the cast reunion episode last week, the young couple gave a sweet update about their relationship, with Fin saying: ‘It was a good way to see if we can do it forever or this isn’t for us, let’s split up.

‘But that wasn’t the case, we are still together and we’re going well. I think that was a big challenge and the best challenge we could’ve had together.’

And now, Sioned has spoken out about the show, which finished earlier this month, in an emotional Instagram post – with fans rushing to express their love and support.

And now, Sioned has spoken out about the show, which finished earlier this month, in an emotional Instagram post (pictured)

She began her video talking about how it felt to come so close to winning the £20,000 grand prize: ‘The whole race, it felt like we needed to win.

‘At the end, it admittedly felt disappointing, all because of competitiveness and being desperate to be the best, always.

‘However, that being said, after returning, I soon realised that, we were winners regardless.

‘And watching it all back and seeing the growth both for myself and Fin individually as well as together highlighted that for me.

‘The experience as a whole and what we gained from it is the true prize and having the title of being winners would have just been a bonus that’s most definitely not that deep.’

Sioned added the couple, both from Carmarthen, Wales, owed a massive thank you to a lot of different people for making the amazing experience happen.

She expressed her gratitude to production company Studio Lambert and everyone part of the process of recruiting and choosing the couple for the show.

And she gave a shoutout to the pair’s camera crew, who travelled with them all of the way and ‘put up with a whole load of bickering, indecisiveness and just us being annoying teenagers’.

‘We shared a load of funny and emotional moments which are now my core memories for life’, Sioned continued.

‘And even though we desperately wanted them to help at times, and they’d just stand and stare blankly with a zip on their mouths, I’m now so appreciative that’s how it works.

‘Because we wouldn’t have grown the way we have and the experience would have been completely different.’

Sioned thanked all the crew members behind the scenes who viewers do not see on screen, praising their ‘extraordinary’ efforts to make the show happen.

She went on: ‘We spent two whole months travelling this way, continuously, footage captured for all of it and somehow it’s been cropped to eight hours, it’s mad.

‘Thank you, obviously, to Fin, for just going on this journey with me.

‘Thank you to the rest of the cast for being so brilliant, most of the time. We now can call them lifelong friends, and yes, we have 60-year-old best friends!

‘And lastly, thank you to everyone, all of you guys, for just giving continuous support since the beginning. It’s been really amazing, so nice, so positive.

Sioned said: ‘I think there were many times in India where I thought, “I can’t do this, I need to go home, not want to but I need to because this is too much”.

‘But I’m really glad I just stuck it out because experiencing it has been really valuable.

‘It’s built us as people. It’s tough doing something like this in a relationship, but I do think it made us stronger.’

Elsewhere in the reunion episode, Fin and Sioned were shocked to hear about a sneaky tactic fellow contestants Brian and Melvyn used to trick the other cast members.

Their co-star Letitia – who placed second alongside her sister Elizabeth – pointed out the brothers were always short for cash.

Brian said: ‘We did tell a few porky pies, didn’t we?’

    Melvyn replied: ‘No, we didn’t!’

Melvyn told viewers: ‘The other teams would come into checkpoint and they’d say, “Well, how do you think you’re doing?”

‘And we’d say, “God, that was an expensive leg”.’

The pair did not feel bad about it at all as a number of clips of them lying throughout the series were shown.

Brian even went on to say that they all did it – but Sioned exclaimed in response: ‘I didn’t. It was just you!’

A shocked Melvyn asked: ‘So, we were the only ones who were bulling?’

Brian and Melvyn narrowly missed out on the top spot as they ended up placing fourth.

But they did all they could in a bid to be crowned winners of the fifth series of the beloved show.

HEARTBREAKING: Sky News sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao reveals the WILL she had prepared, moving fans to Tears!

Sky News host has shared a ‘roller coaster of emotions’ cnc3r update with fans after ‘crying with sadness and disbelief’.

Sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao was diagnosed with breast cnc3r on Christmas Eve in 2013.

She received the all clear before receiving the devastating news seven years later that it had returned once more after she found a lump below her collarbone.

Dublin-born Jacquie was diagnosed with stage four cnc3r, and was told that it had spread to her spine and legs.

Soon after beginning treatment with olaparib, which was previously used for ovarian cnc3r, the disease began to slow down.

Now, Jacquie has shared a health update on Instagram and revealed it had been four years since she was told there was ‘no evidence of disease’ on her scan.

Sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao (pictured) was diagnosed with breast cnc3r on Christmas Eve in 2013

She penned: ‘4 years ago today my oncologist rang to say the best words you can hear as a stage 4 cnc3r patient ‘no evidence of disease’ there was nothing unusual on my scan, it was clear.

‘It should have been an amazing feeling but we also got news from Brazil the same day that my mother in law had suddenly di3d.

‘It is strange how life can take away something so precious and then give something so precious at the same time. It was a roller coaster of emotions type of day.

‘@mreduardob was trying to scramble a flight but couldn’t get the right Covid test – we cried and cried – sadness and disbelief.

‘I’m still, according to the scan, cnc3r free. I hope it lasts. I hope nothing is hiding and you just never know. But feeling lucky to be in this position (considering) and remembering our lovely Anna Beltrao today I have an angel.’

She ended the post with ‘Life,’ followed by a shrugging emoji and ‘Stage 4 milestone’.

Earlier this year, the radiant mother-of-three, who represented Great Britain in rhythmic gymnastics at the 1984 Olympics, told OK magazine that she felt ‘very lucky’ to celebrate her 60th, but ‘never’ thought she’d live to mark the milestone birthday.

She told OK Magazine: ‘I feel truly blessed and I was ready to have a big party to celebrate life. I have always been a very positive person, trying to find the right mindset to approach life, but almost exactly five years ago when I was told my cnc3r had spread, it was very hard not to start planning a fun3ral’.

Jacquie lives with her husband Eduardo Beltrao and their three children, Amelia, Tiago, and Jorge in South West London, but at one point in her life she says she recalled having ‘some very dark thoughts’.

She said after her second diagnosis, she began researching stage 4 breast cnc3r and was shocked to discover that some people had just two years to live.

She also revealed how turning 60 compounded her ‘dread’ as she feared ageing and how society would view her new age.

‘My 60th birthday is a big celebration. In some ways turning 60 can fill you with dread, sometimes you feel people can look at you differently, but there were days I never thought I would make it to this point given the severity of my cnc3r. But here I am’.

In addition to marking her seventh decade, Jacquie is also celebrating five years of being cnc3r free, a feat she ascribes to a ‘hero’ science professor and a wonder drug called olaparib.

In June 2023, while speaking to fellow Sky presenter Anna Jones, she recalled how the drug saved her life.

‘It does work for a lot of people, but it works in varying degrees’ she said.

‘I’m one of the people where it’s worked 100 per cent. It won’t work forever. You have to have that in the back of my mind.

‘It’s not a permanent fix. It’s so new they don’t even know how long it will work for, but anyway I’ll take it’.

And referring to scientist Andrew Tutt, she added: ‘Who would do the sport this morning if it wasn’t for him?’

She told Anna that she hugged Professor Andrew and told him ‘you are a hero’, which left Anna visibly moved.

Olaparib, also known as Lynparza, is a targeted drug used for a number of cnc3rs for people who have a change in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene.

The drug is a PARP inhibitor, with PARP being a protein that helps damaged cells to repair themselves. Olaparib stops PARP from working.

Some cnc3r cells use PARP to keep their DNA healthy, so when olaparib stops PARP from repairing DNA damage, the cnc3r cells di3.

Jacquie revealed in June 2020 that she was facing a second battle with breast cnc3r after doctors first told her she had the disease in 2013, when she was 48.

Jacquie said she found a new ‘tiny’ lump during lockdown 2020 and began chemotherapy soon after.

Jacquie admitted in July 2021 that it had been a ‘living nightmare’ since her grade three diagnosis at the time.

After she was first diagnosed with breast cnc3r in 2013 for which she went through five cycles of chemotherapy in four months.

She said in a social media video at the time: ‘So, during lockdown I took my own advice, did a check, found a tiny, tiny, little lump just here.

‘Had it checked out and a biopsy straight away and it turns out it’s grade three breast cnc3r, much nastier than the first one I had.

‘I’m sharing this because it felt weird to be going back to work on Sky and being on social media and acting like everything was shiny, perfect and fun when it wasn’t.’

In 2020, Jacquie told Hello! magazine she ‘didn’t realise’ breast cnc3r could return. ‘Facing it again felt like a kick in the stomach,’ she added.

‘When I was told it was incurable, I burst into tears and thought, “That’s it, I’m going to di3”.

‘I felt so sad that I’d never go to my daughter’s wedding, see my sons graduate, or become a grandma.’

In July 2021 Jacquie said she felt ‘unbelievable’ after being told there was ‘no evidence’ of her cnc3r following a scan.

In June 2023, while speaking to fellow Sky News presenter Anna Jones, Jacquie recalled how miracle drug, olaparib, saved her life

She celebrated receiving a clear scan amid her stage 4 breast cnc3r battle, and rejoiced: ‘I’m living proof anything is possible.’

‘I had feared the worst and had times when I’d hear a piece of music and think, “That’ll be good for my fun3ral.”

‘There were dark days, so to be told there is no evidence of cnc3r now is unbelievable.

‘I was expecting bad news or, at best, that my aggressive cnc3r hadn’t got worse. But to be told there is no evidence of it now is beyond my wildest dreams.’

She added that she had thought she had only had two years left to live but now she can ‘enjoy life again’, before adding that she is ‘living proof that anything is possible’.

Breast cnc3r comes from a cnc3rous cell which develops in the lining of a duct or lobule in one of the breasts.

When the breast cnc3r has spread into surrounding tissue it is called ‘invasive’. Some people are diagnosed with ‘carcinoma in situ’, where no cnc3r cells have grown beyond the duct or lobule.

Most cases develop in those over the age of 50 but younger women are sometimes affected. Breast cnc3r can develop in men, though this is rare.

Staging indicates how big the cnc3r is and whether it has spread. Stage 1 is the earliest stage and stage 4 means the cnc3r has spread to another part of the body.

The cnc3rous cells are graded from low, which means a slow growth, to high, which is fast-growing. High-grade cnc3rs are more likely to come back after they have first been treated.
