Grace Dent has revealed the heart-wrenching reason she was reduced to tears when she found out she’d taken Gregg Wallace‘s job on MasterChef.

Back in December last year it was confirmed that the food critic, 51, would take over the role from Gregg, 60, after he was accused of s3xual misc0nduct.

Speaking on Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women, the I’m A Celebrity star opened up about the moment when she found out that she’d got the role.

Grace said: ‘I got the call, I was coming out the chemist in east London, I got a call, they said “It’s going to be you”… I did, I had a little cry.

‘Sorry, this is getting deep very quickly, both of my parents are gone and I know this is a job they would understand.

‘All the other jobs we have, you know, you end up ringing and going “I’ve got this” and they go “Love, I think it’s good. I have no idea what you are talking about”.

‘With MasterChef, my mother especially, she would have been really happy.’

Grace told the panel: ‘It has been my dream job since I was a little girl.

‘And I’ve had my eye on hat prize wanting it, but you never think you’re going to get chosen!

‘When I felt there might be some movement, there might be a role…

‘I wanted it, I wanted it. I put the feelers out.

‘But I wasn’t going to believe it until I was standing there, smiling at scallops with the dress on, the bra on, everything, the high heels.

‘I am so happy.’

 Grace is best known for being a journalist, author, broadcaster and food critic.

She has written for a number of publications after studying English Literature at The University Of Stirling.

The star has also published various novels including Diary Of A Chav and Diary Of A Snob.

But she is arguably best known for being a regular critic on MasterChef, the celebrity version and MasterChef: The Professionals.

Grace has also been a judge on Great British Menu.

Not only that, she’s appeared in various TV shows such as Pointless Celebrities, Richard Osman’s House Of Games and Have I Got News For You.

Most recently she took part in I’m A Celebrity back in 2023.

It comes after Grace exclusively revealed to MailOnline the secret job she hated before finding fame.

Grace Dent talks about joining MasterChef on This Morning

Grace’s career in food had a very unlikely beginning at Southwaite service station on the M6.

And speaking on the new Mercedes-Benz Vans Under the Bonnet podcast, she told how she had to grit her teeth while racking up food bills as an ’18-year old in an egg-stained uniform.’

She told host Scott Mills: ‘I’m going to let you into a secret, I worked at a service station. I worked at Southwaite service station on the M6.

‘Everybody in my sixth form used to try and work there part time. If you got the job, you had to do very early shifts. They would pick you up in a mini-bus just to make sure you got there.

‘They’d take you at about 5am, off down the M6, and disperse you to different parts of the service station. You never knew where you were going to go.

‘You could end up on the teapoint – where you stand and just make cups of tea all day, being splashed by scalding liquids, boiling water, all day.

‘Or you might be doing the tables. Or you might have to go and work in the shop. You were never on the same thing.

‘The worst job? Toting up the food bill at the till in the restaurant, because everybody started kicking off about the price.

‘As if you, this 18-year-old girl in an egg-stained uniform, got up that morning and made up the prices – as if I decided how much tea and scones would be.

‘People did really kick off. It felt like every single person that came to the till, I would go: ‘Four pounds, 95,’ and they’d go: ‘I’ve only had a cup of tea…”

Beach Boys icon Brian Wilson’s cause of d3ath has been revealed publicly two weeks after his passing at 82.

Wilson’s children announced his d3ath on the singer’s official Instagram page on Wednesday June 11 – a year after it emerged that he had been diagnosed with a neurocognitive disorder similar to dementia.

Per a d3ath certificate obtained by TMZ, Wilson di3d from respirat0ry arrest – which occurs when the heart is still beating, but the lungs stop functioning, making it impossible for the person to get oxygen.

Wilson was also suffering from a litany of other health issues at the time of his d3ath, with infections seps1s and cystitis also listed on the certificate.

Associated factors include neur0degenerative dis0rder, obstructive sleep apnea, chronic respiratory failure and chronic kidney disease.

The God Only Knows hitmaker shot to fame as the frontman of the Beach Boys, for which he served as the principal songwriter as well as the co-lead vocalist.

Wilson formed the Beach Boys in 1961 with his brothers Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and their friend Al Jardine.

The original name of the band was the Pendletones, and they exploded onto the scene with their 1961 song Surfin’, written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love.

Over the course of the 1960s the group became one of the most beloved in America, releasing albums like Surfin’ Safari, Surfin’ U.S.A. and Surfer Girl.

Their 1966 hit God Only Knows was branded ‘the greatest song ever written’ by Beatles legend Paul McCartney.

Along with their pioneering musical style, the band also conjured up an intoxicating image of a carefree California lifestyle of sunshine, palm trees and sea air.

However Wilson’s involvement with the Beach Boys shifted dramatically when he suffered a nervous breakdown in 1964, followed by two more in the next couple of years.

He promptly withdrew from touring but retained his backstage control of the band as a writer and producer, masterminding their 1966 magnum opus Pet Sounds and providing lead vocals on many of the tracks.

Pet Sounds struggled commercially at first, but ultimately earned a reputation as one of the most acclaimed pop albums ever created.

Last February, shortly after his wife Melinda’s d3ath, Wilson’s family filed to obtain a conservatorship of him, announcing his diagnosis with a dementia-like condition.

They said he often made ‘spontaneous irrelevant or incoherent utterances,’ had a ‘very short attention span and while unintentionally disruptive, is frequently unable to maintain decorum appropriate to the situation,’ in documents obtained by The Blast.

Melinda, the family argued, had been attending to Wilson’s ‘daily living needs’ and her absence had left him ‘unable to properly provide for his own personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter.’

The last time Wilson was seen in public was April 2024, when he emerged looking frail in a wheelchair to attend a Los Angeles Lakers game.

News of his d3ath provoked an outpouring of grief from his fans, including Elton John, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Mick Fleetwood, Micky Dolenz, the Backstreet Boys, Randy Bachman and John Lennon’s sons Julian Lennon and Sean Lennon.

Wilson’s survivors include his daughters Carnie, 57, and Wendy, 55, whom he had with his first wife Marilyn, as well as the five children he adopted with Melinda, who are called Dakota Rose, Daria Rose, Delanie Rose, Dylan and Dash.

Robin Roberts paid a heartfelt tribute to Archbishop Desmond Tutu

South Africa is holding a week of events to mark to passing of Desmond Tutu which will include two days of lying in state before an official state funeral on 1 January in Cape Town.

In a message of condolence, Queen Elizabeth II said she remembered with fondness her meetings with him, and his great warmth and humour.

“Archbishop Tutu’s loss will be felt by the people of South Africa and by so many people in Great Britain, Northern Ireland and across the Commonwealth, where he was held in such high affection and esteem,” she said.

President Biden said he was “heartbroken to learn of the passing of a true servant of God and of the people”, adding that his “legacy transcends borders and will echo through the ages”.

Former US President Barack Obama, meanwhile, described the Archbishop as “a mentor, friend and moral compass”.

A statement on behalf of Desmond’s family from Dr. Ramphela Mamphele, acting chairperson of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu IP Trust, read on 26 December: “Ultimately, at the age of 90, he di3d peacefully at the Oasis Frail Care Centre in Cape Town this morning.”

DeMarco Morgan delighted fans on Monday as he posed up a storm on social media ahead of appearing on Good Morning America.

The TV anchor, 44, shared the bright-eyed update on his Instagram account which saw him beam in a slick grey chequered jacket from his dressing room. He matched his grey blazer with a crisp white shirt and navy blue tie adorned with white polka dots.

Captioning the photo, he penned: “N E W – Y O R K. Dressing Room 9. Here’s to another dope week ahead. #Grateful #NYC #Style #Gentleman #TuneIn #GMA #GMA3.”

DeMarco looked incredible 

The fabulous photo sparked a slew of messages from his friends and fans who took to the comments section to reply to the ABC star.

“Keep shining friend!” ABC’s Mireya Villarreal penned. One fan wrote: “Love that blazer! You’re killing it on GMA3,” alongside a raised hands emoji.

 

A second added: “Keep up the amazing work my brother.” A third penned: “That smile, the lighting and that suit,” alongside three flame emojis.

The TV star has been filling in for TJ Holmes alongside Rhiannon Ally after TJ and fellow anchor Amy Robach confirmed their relationship which started out as an affair last year. A decision has not been made yet as to whether TJ and Amy will return to their regular spot.

TJ and Amy, who started hosting the show together in 2020, were initially replaced by Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez, who joined Dr. Jennifer Ashton.

As for newcomers to the station DeMarco and Rhiannon, it’s safe to say that viewers are enjoying the anchor mixup and have heaped praise on the pair since they joined the show.

On a photo they shared over the weekend of the pair posing backstage fans flocked to the comments section to share their feedback.

One person replied writing: “You guys are great. Hope you can stay on GMA3.” A second agreed writing: “Love you guys on GMA3!!! I hope they keep you @rhiannonally!!!!” A third penned: ” We want you both forever! Such fun.”

 

INJURY AFTER INJURY – Could Indiana Fever’s WNBA title hopes collapse due to overreliance on Caitlin Clark?

Caitlin Clark has been dominating the WNBA since returning from a quad strain earlier in the year that sidelined her from a couple of weeks. Averaging 18 points, nine rebounds, and five assists so far this year, it’s clear that Clark’s sensational rookie year with the Indiana Fever was no fluke, as she’s officially taken over the WNBA as the biggest star of the league.

However, the injury problems appear to be continuing for the former No. 1 overall pick.

On Thursday morning, the Fever announced that Clark would be sidelined with a groin injury ahead of their game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night.

This is the first reported instance of Clark suffering a groin injury in her career, so it likely isn’t something that stemmed from the quadriceps injury that held her out of action earlier this season.

Injuries have not commonly been an issue for Clark, who played all 139 games of her college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes. With the Fever, she has missed six games in her first season and change, with the seventh coming on Thursday night.

The Fever are 2-3 in games without Clark on the floor this season alone.

It has been an up-and-down season for Indiana, who has a 7-7 record so far this year, sitting in a tie for No. 6 in the WNBA standings. There is still a ton of time for the Fever to get things rolling and make a push into the postseason, but they need their star guard to be healthy in order to do that.

The Fever have a back-to-back on Thursday and Friday, with a game against the Dallas Wings following the matchup against the Sparks. We will see if Clark is healthy enough to suit up for that Friday night matchup, or if this groin injury is going to hold her out for extended time.

The Indiana Fever will face the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night in their first game back from a three-game road trip. As they look to pick up their second straight win and improve to 8-7 on the 2025 WNBA season, the Fever shared an update on star guard Caitlin Clark.

Clark, who missed five games earlier this season with a left quadriceps injury, was ruled out for Thursday night’s game with a left groin issue.

It’s unclear when she tweaked it or how long she will be out for but it’s worth noting the Fever will be down to just nine available players against the Sparks.

On Wednesday, Indiana suspended Damiris Dantas’ contract so she can play in the AmeriCup with the Brazilian National Team.

Fans flooded social media, shocked that she’s already set to miss her sixth game of the season already.

“NOOOO!!!!! Prayers for a speedy recovery,” one fan said.

“Nooo. What is with this season? Caitlin, praying for you,” another wrote.

“Dang it. Poor CC,” added another.

“This is terrible but I want her to rest,” wrote a fan.

“How long this time ?????? Well we got Aari back yayyyy we’ll be just Fine !!!” said a fan.

In nine games this season, Clark is averaging 18.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.9 assists. However, the reigning Rookie of the Year has looked all but herself as of late.

On Tuesday against the Seattle Storm, she finished with six points on 3-of-13 shooting. She’s also a combined 1-for-23 on her most recent three-point attempts.

A spokesperson from ABC released a statement regarding Amy and TJ’s departure from the network on Friday. It read: “After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News. We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.”

The spokesperson added: “A decision for new co-hosts [of GMA3 and 20/20] will come later.“

The show’s official Twitter page has already made changes to their account, removing the picture of David and Amy, as well as erasing any mention of her in the description. The program’s bio now reads: “Watch 20/20 2-hour event specials, anchored by David Muir, Friday nights on ABC. Stream full episodes on Hulu.”

It looks like viewers of the program will have to wait a little longer to find out who will step in for Amy on the show, however, given the show’s contributing anchor, Deborah Roberts, has substituted several times in the last two months, it’s possible that viewers will be seeing more of her as the network makes their decision.

Fans of the show have certainly shown their support for Deborah, with some calling for her to take the permanent spot on the show.

In an Instagram post on Friday, she shared a photo showing her in the 20/20 studio alongside the caption: “Finishing up Friday with a report I’ve been chasing for a few years. Did a NYC mom die in a bathroom accident or was there more to the story? The secrets revealed after her death led to big questions and a surprising concluding. If you missed, go online to @abc2020.”

Taking to the comments section, one person wrote: “While I will miss Amy, I hope you get the permanent spot. You definitely deserve it,” while another added: “It was a great show! Your reporting was excellent!”

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes – A Beautiful Love Story… but a Sh0ckwave left behind for Both Families!

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ relationship is blossoming while their respective marriages are sadly coming to an end.

The former GMA3 hosts have seperated from their spouses with T.J. filing for divorce from his wife, Marilee Fiebig, and Amy now estranged from her husband, Andrew Shue.

However, Amy still follows Marilee on Instagram which will come as a surprise to those who have been following the story.

While she’s not liked any posts by the lawyer recently, back in August 2022 – around the time T.J. and Amy reportedly split from Marilee and Andrew – she showed her appreciation for a photo of her now-boyfriend, on his birthday.

The snapshot showed the father-of-three being hugged by his daughter, Sabine, 10 – who he shares with Marilee – as he was presented with his birthday cake.

Amy didn’t comment, but at the time, it wouldn’t have been a surprise that she liked the post as she and T.J. were friends before things turned romantic.

News of their relationship was made public in November after they were photographed on an intimate vacation together.

They were swiftly taken off the air while ABC navigated news of their affair. On January 27 they were officially relieved of their hosting duties on GMA3.

A spokesperson from the network released a statement to People which read: “After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News.

T.J. and Marilee have been married for 12 years 

“We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions. A decision for new co-hosts [of GMA3 and 20/20] will come later.”

Marilee was seemingly blindsided by the relationship between her ex and Amy broke her silence in December with a statement in which her divorce lawyer, Stephanie Lehman, spoke on her behalf.

Amy has called time on her marriage to Andrew too 

“Notwithstanding, we continue to be disappointed by T.J’s lack of discretion, respect and sensitivity toward Marilee and the party’s daughter,” part of the statement read.

“Marilee has been touched by the outpouring of support and looks forward to a new beginning in this new year.”

Andrew has not spoken publicly about the demise of his marriage, but tellingly removed all photos of Amy from his Instagram shortly after the romantic photos of his ex and T.J. emerged.

Robin Roberts appeared to be losing her patience as she waited for a “big announcement” to be made on Tuesday’s GMA.

The anchor warned her fellow GMA star, Sam Champion, to “stop teasing” her and her co-stars ahead of him sharing some incredible news.

Following a commercial break, Robin explained how ABC’s parent company, Disney, has teamed up with the FX show, The Bear, for an initiative to “combat food insecurity”.

Addressing Sam, who was broadcasting from a food bank in The Bronx, Robin said: “Sam, we’re kicking it off with the big announcement, so stop teasing us and tell us what it is.”

He was joined by The Bear star, Abby Elliott, who said: “It’s just so special. New York is all about community, and this is just such a great initiative, and it’s an honor to be a part of it.”

Sam revealed Disney is donating 450,000 meals to three food banks in the US

During the segment, it was also revealed that 1.3 million people are food insecure in New York City alone, which is enough people to “fill Yankee Stadium 30 times”.

Back in the studio, Robin appeared thrilled with Disney’s donation and the initiative, saying she was “glad they’re going to be all around the country”.

Meanwhile, the GMA cast and crew appear to have settled into their new home after moving from Times Square to their “sparkly new headquarters” downtown last week.

Last Monday, they appeared in their new studios in Hudson Square, an increasingly popular neighborhood west of SoHo, not far from TriBeCa.

GMA kicked off their Monday broadcast with Robin declaring: “It’s a big day, welcome to our new home,” as George later added: “New day, new week, new home,” and Michael then quipped: “It’s a beautiful location in the city.”

The studios are in Disney’s new headquarters and also house fellow ABC mainstays The View, LIVE with Kelly & Mark, 20/20, World News Tonight, and the Tamron Hall Show.

The new complex was designed by renowned architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, with interiors by Gensler, and “serves as a collaborative town square in the bustling city”, according to Disney’s website.

It “has already started welcoming employees, and by next summer will officially be home to news, editorial, live productions, streaming, technology, advertising, corporate, business support functions, and more.”

Named after current Disney CEO Bob Iger, who began his career at ABC in 1974, “7 Hudson Square is also a testament to Disney’s commitment to NYC, its economy, and its people. The state-of-the-art building encompasses an entire city block and will be a collaborative hub for the company’s media, production, and innovation.”
