Heartbreaking News about Dr. Jennifer Ashton’s Ex-Husband – Longtime GMA Health Expert!

The Good Morning America family and its fans are saying goodbye to one of their longtime favorites: Dr. Jennifer Ashton.

Following her announcement in April that she would be leaving ABC after 13 years with the network, the chief health and medical editor and chief medical correspondent officially bid farewell to her post as GMA3: What You Need To Know co-anchor on Thursday, June 27.

The year and a half leading up to her departure was a tricky one, as in November 2022, she lost not one but both of her co-anchors, when Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes parted ways with ABC following news of their relationship, and it wasn’t until six months later and a revolving door of temporary hosts that Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan were confirmed as her new co-anchors.

Ahead of her emotional last day, Dr. Jennifer, 55, appeared on The View on Tuesday, and opened up about what she’s most looking forward to about her “next chapter.”

Asked by host Sara Haines how she’s feeling, the ABC mainstay joked: “Tired!” before sharing: “You know, I’m excited about the next stage, I’m really focusing on what I’m board-certified in, which is women’s health and obesity medicine and nutrition.”

She further reflected: “I’ve been here 13 plus years,” revealing that last year alone she was on the air a whopping 805 times, and that she’s “looking forward to sleeping past four or five in the morning a little bit.”

Once she gets her well-deserved break however, she’s eager to continue working, particularly on her new platform Ajenda, a free weekly newsletter that will highlight her breadth of knowledge on all things health.

Jennifer maintained she’s “looking forward to the next chapter and really focusing on the areas I’m board-certified in, so I’m excited.”

Several of The View co-hosts noted that they are already “obsessed” with the content that she shares on her Instagram, and Sara emphasized just how much she trusts and is impressed by Jennifer.

She maintained that each and every time she’s left amazed, thanking her for “bringing that to all of us,” and noting that they don’t plan to stop calling her over to the show.

Outside of her professional life, Jennifer is gearing up to celebrate her second wedding anniversary with producer and sports executive Tim Werner, 74, who she married in November of 2022. She was previously married to late thoracic surgeon Robert C. Ashton, from 1996 until 2017; the fellow doctor, with whom she shared kids Alex, 25, and Chloe, 22, di3d by scd shortly after their divorce was finalized.

Alongside a photo of her chatting to Tyler Perry on the ABC set, she wrote: “Very excited to have the one and only @TylerPerry joining us tomorrow LIVE in Times Square!

Robin has only recently returned to the show after reporting from Portugal before making her assignment into a vacation with her wife, Amber Laign.

Viewers missed her in her absence but Robin made no secret of how much she adored her European vacation.

When it was time to wrap up their stay abroad, Robin posted a video of Amber dancing as a band performed onstage and captioned the post: “What a way to end our magical Portugal adventure! We’re coming home filled with many wonderful memories…the spectacular scenery, delicious food, incredible wine and all the kind people we met along the way. Obrigada!!”

One of their favorite places is Key West, Florida, where they ride their bikes, play tennis and relax with their pet dog, Lukas.

Actor and TV correspondent Cameron Mathison and his wife Vanessa announced on Wednesday that after 22 years of marriage, they were going their separate ways.

The 54-year-old Canadian-American actor and his wife, 57, a former model, tied the knot on July 27, 2002, and marked their 22nd wedding anniversary earlier this week. They met as working models in NYC in 1998 and began dating soon after, tying the knot a few years later.

They posted a joint statement on social media earlier today, including a set of photographs of theirs together.

Their joint statement read: “After 22 years of marriage, we have made the difficult decision to part ways. We enter this new chapter with deep love, kindness, and respect for each other. We hold gratitude in our hearts for the wonderful years we shared together.”

The pair also share two children, son Lucas, 21, and daughter Leila, 18, who will be heading off to college in a few weeks and leave them as empty nesters. “Our children have been and will continue to be our highest priority, and we will forever share in our devotion and love for them.”

The statement concluded: “We remain friends, and both wish the best for one another. We sincerely appreciate your respect for our family’s privacy during this transition.”

The TV favorite revealed that there had been an addition to the collection in the form of a suit jacket, and shared a number of photos of him modeling several jacket styles.

The star has been getting back into work projects following a difficult time in his personal life this year. His teenage daughter Isabella, 19, was diagnosed with a rare cnc3rous brain tum0r called medulloblastoma in October, which starts in the lower back part of the brain that controls coordination and movement.

Luckily, in July, the teenager revealed that she was now cnc3r free, following a gruelling few months of treatment.

Michael recently addressed his daughter’s health during an episode of Good Morning America, when Kevin Jonas – who had recently undergone surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma from his hairline – a common form of skin cnc3r – asked the star how he was doing.

News of Isabella’s cnc3r battle was first announced on Good Morning America back in January. The teenager bravely sat down with her dad on GMA to talk with long-running host and family friend Robin, who has dealt with her own health battles in the past.

The college student had been treated at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center in Durham, North Carolina, and along the way she updated fans on Youtube of her progress.

After her father promptly encouraged her to go to the doctor and have a round of tests done, they discovered a fast-growing 4-centimeter tum0r – larger than a gold ball – in the back of her head. She has since had two surgeries to remove it.

Michael Strahan was left feeling “emotional” after his GMA co-star Pierre Thomas delivered a very personal report on Tuesday’s show.

Pierre, who is a senior justice correspondent at ABC News, explored his family history and its connection to America’s legacy of slavery as part of his 10 Million Names Project, which aims to recover the names of African descendants whose ancestors were enslaved before the end of the Civil War.

In a video report, Pierre travelled to the outskirts of Huntington, West Virginia, where his ancestors lived at the Green Bottom Plantation as 3nsl@ved pe0ple, run by Confederate General Albert G. Jenkins. Pierre’s great, great-grandmother, Adeline Jenkins, was born into slavery at the plantation in 1858 and was very likely the biological daughter of her enslaver, Albert Jenkins.

Pierre said one of the “most difficult” moments of his journey was walking into the Jenkins family home. “It’s hard for me to be here, it’s a challenge,” said the journalist. He also visited the slave cabins, where his great, great-grandmother was likely born.

Michael Strahan said he felt ’emotional’ after watching the report

“The owner of the plantation had the p0wer of l1fe and d3ath. I wish they didn’t have to go through what they went through,” he said in the video.

After his report aired, Pierre joined Michael and his co-hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos in the studio.

Clearly touched by the shocking video, Michael said: “Pierre, watching that, I know how emotional it made me feel. You said, ‘I’m happy to be here, I think.’ This is initially a journey you didn’t want to go on?”

“No I didn’t,” said Pierre. “It took me two months to make the decision to do this project. I’d always wanted my family history to begin with my grandmother, who lived to be 100 years old – a wonderful woman, spiritual, she was the matriarch of the family. I knew going past that would be going into unchartered territory, into waters I didn’t want to wade into.”

Chiming in, Robin remarked: “It seems like you’re still processing the emotions.”

“I am,” Pierre confirmed. “Watching that is not any easier than the first time I saw it. It’s a combination of rage, sadness and immense pride that my ancestors could survive that.

“I had this weird sensation when I was there, closing my eyes and opening them and imagining what it would be like to wake up to slavery. I could sense their presence. It was the oddest thing.”

He continued: “Walking into that house, the plantation home, I was only in there for two minutes. I could feel the legacy of slavery, rac1sm, ev1l. I was drowning in it, so I just had to walk out of there.”

At the end of the interview, George thanked Pierre for his “very powerful” report, which was also praised by viewers at home.

SH0CKING DNA RESULTS Leave GMA Host Whit Johnson’s Family Speechless!

The recent announcement of 23andMe’s bankruptcy has spurred many of its previous users to quickly delete their data from its annals to avoid leaking their information.

That news turned out to be extremely personal for one Whit Johnson, who shared on a recent edition of Good Morning America over the weekend his family’s connection with the company.

The 42-year-old ABC News anchor, who also hosts ABC’s World News Tonight on weekends, revealed that he took a DNA test with 23andMe in 2014, accidentally unveiling a whole new complicated family web that specifically involved his father, Steve.

As it turns out, Steve was adopted, a fact that none of them were aware of at the time. Whit’s own family tree led him to an unknown relative on the site, who ended up being his father’s long lost biological brother.

“That discovery led to another brother and a possible sister on my grandmother’s side, and two more brothers on my grandfather’s side,” he shared during his recent segment.

Whit and his father discussed the complicated feelings that come with having to potentially delete their entire data, with Steve noting that “lots of people who could have the experience I had won’t have it, because people just won’t sign up for this stuff.”

Whit did delete his data, but Steve decided not to. His co-anchors Sam Champion, Rebecca Jarvis and Linsey Davis supported his decision to share his story publicly with viewers, who all flocked to the comments section on social media to uplift him and share similar incidents.

He wrote on Instagram that he was “VERY nervous” about being so open. “I was VERY nervous to tell this story! My DNA test on 23andMe unlocked a family mystery,” he penned.

“My dad is adopted. And completely by accident, I found my dad’s long lost brother. That was just the beginning. Over the years, we’ve learned about his mother and father… and connected with a total of 4 brothers and one possible sister.”

He was back on the air the following day with his Weekend GMA co-hosts Gio Benitez and Janai Norman, discussing some of the questions he’d received from viewers.

Whit noted: “After sharing my 23andMe story on GMA… 2 questions I’m getting a lot: One, what are the biggest privacy concerns? Two, and why did you and your dad make different decisions about deleting your data?”

“Again, this is very personal. Most recently, her siblings Lawrence, and Sally-Ann Roberts appeared on the show to talk about their new book, “Lucy Sings on Lucy Street,” inspired by their late mother.

The star has been working on GMA since 2005 and in 2022, along with co-star George, they became the longest-running TV duo, having marked 13 years working together on the show.

Michael, meanwhile, joined the show in 2016. Praising working with her co-stars during an interview with AP, Robin said: “We would never, ever do anything to make each other look good at the expense of the other.

“That’s such a comfort. To have that, it makes you take chances, and I think the audience picks up on that — the way that we are so different in many ways but so common in others.”

And while Robin has enjoyed an impressive career in television and sport – with memorable accolades including becoming a member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame – she had a very different path in mind at one point.

During a recent interview with Southern Living, she revealed that she was inspired by her father, Lawrence, to become a pilot.

She said: “I remember, my mama was a little nervous, Sid, because if this didn’t work out, the broadcasting didn’t work out, I wanted to be a pilot. That was my plan B. So Daddy would get some old planes that he’d put back together, and he would take me up, but there’s just something about being a pilot, and that’s a very special breed. I didn’t quite have that, but it’s still on my bucket list to get my pilot’s license.”

GMA TV SH0CKER: Host Will Reeve ASKED TO LEAVE the Studio – What Really Happened?

Robin Roberts had a very specific request for her GMA co-star Will Reeve on Thursday’s episode of the ABC morning show!

The long-term host told Michael Strahan and George Stephanopoulos that she had texted Will ahead of his appearance on the show to ask if he would step outside of the studios.

Robin had been talking to a fan of the show who had been waiting outside the studios, having come from LSU, to catch a glimpse of Will in person. “Will Reeves… as my mama would say, he’s a nice young man,” she said.

Will has been working for ABC since 2018 and is a familiar face on GMA. Outside of work, he’s engaged to fiancée Amanda Dublin.

The pair got engaged in November 2024 after two years of dating. The happy news was announced on social media, and Will opened up more about popping the question on GMA.

He told his co-stars: “We are elated. Couldn’t be happier. “I had a whole plan. It went to perfection and now we just get to enjoy being engaged, planning a wedding. I’m the luckiest guy in the world. Thank you for all the love you’ve shown.”

Along with her mother, Victoria, the pair are well-known events planners, who run the company Victoria Dublin Events. During a recent appearance on Live with Kelly & Mark, he spoke about the planning process, as co-host Mark Consuelos joked: “This is the easiest wedding you’ll ever be part of.”

Will replied: “I hope it’s the only wedding I’m ever a part of!” “We are so dialed,” he added. “We’ve still got almost a year, a little under a year until the wedding and we’ve basically got almost everything done.”

Kelly Ripa then joked that all Will had to do was “show up” to the wedding “like an honored guest.” Will has also got plans to honor his late father, Christopher Reeve, at his wedding.

He told People: “I’ll be wearing his cufflinks.” The Superman actor died in 2004 when he was just 12-years-old. Tragically, just 17 months later, his mother passed away from lung cnc3r.

But it’s not the first time this week that Michael has been absent, as he’s been missing from GMA since last Thursday.

While it’s not unusual for the former NFL athlete to take some time away, fans are concerned that his breaks are becoming more regular. 

One look at Michael’s Instagram reveals he’s currently juggling multiple projects, from hosting The $100,000 Pyramid and Fox’s NFL Sunday, whilst also managing his clothing and skincare brands.

But that didn’t stop his legions of loyal fans asking when he’d be returning to his spot on the ABC morning show.

“Get back to work, Mr. On GMA,” one of his social media followers quipped on one of his posts promoting his game show, while another added: “We miss you on GMA,” and there were many more comments that mirrored the sentiment.

Fortunately, GMA have many talented hosts to stand in for Michael, including Rebecca, Linsey Davis, and Eva Pilgrim too.

His work projects are clearly keeping Michael busy, but he also had a personal reason to celebrate recently as his twins, Isabella and Sophia, turned 19.

 On October 28, his youngest daughters waved goodbye to 18 and ushered in a new year. Although Michael didn’t pay tribute to them on Instagram, he likely lavished them with gifts and love on their special day.

He is incredibly proud of his children and when Isabella and Sophia left home for college at the end of the summer, Michael couldn’t speak more highly about them.

Isabella is embracing everything California has to offer after starting her studies at USC while Sophia is a student at Duke University in North Carolina.

Speaking about their decisions to go to different schools during an appearance on The View, Michael said: “Sophia is going to Duke, Isabella is going to USC. [They are] their first choices of school, and they worked really hard,” before maintaining: “I’m very proud of them, I’m a happy father.

“They’re very far from each other, but they went to separate high schools, since tenth grade.” Michael then added: “They have completely separate sets of friends, even though they are great friends with each other,” before he quipped: “But they also argue and fight to the point where they need to be separated.”

Michael shares his two youngest children with his second ex-wife, Jean Muggli. He is also a father to Michael Jr. and his other daughter, Tanita, from his relationship with his first wife, Wanda Hutchins.
