A GOOD Morning Britain legend has d13d aged 76 after a battle with dementia.

Wincey Willis, who etched her name in history as ITV’s first female national weather presenter, sadly passed away following her health battle.

After being diagnosed with fronto-temporal dementia in 2015, Willis returned to the North East to live in Sunderland.

The TV icon d13d on December 18 last year but her d3@th was only publicly announced this week.

Willis joined Good Morning Britain in 1983, thanks to a push from broadcasting giant Greg Dyke.

The trailblazing 34-year-old brought a fresh and energetic take to the dull weather forecasts that were the norm at the time.

Wincey lit up screens with her relatable charm making her a household name.

Her spiky mullet hairstyle made her distinctive, winning her the 1986 Head of the Year competition.

Willis became part of a golden line-up that included Anne Diamond, Rustie Lee with her culinary corner, and “Mad Lizzie” Webb’s fitness feature.

The dream team helped Good Morning Britain overtake the BBC’s Breakfast Time.

Her pioneering efforts opened doors for subsequent female weather presenters including Trish Williamson and Ulrika Jonsson, who also expanded into other areas of TV.

At the peak of her career, during the mid-80s, she featured on the game show Treasure Hunt alongside Anneka Rice.

A contract dispute led Willis to resign from TV-am in 1987, after which her television career largely came to a halt.

This Morning star’s family confirm they d13d on tragic Air India crash as they share heartbreaking statement on the show
In the following years, she dedicated her time as a conservation volunteer aiding endangered species globally.

Willis also hosted radio shows for BBC Coventry & Warwickshire and for BBC Hereford & Worcester.

Her marriage to Malcolm Willis in 1972 ended in divorce.

Born Florence Winsome Leighton, Willis was born in Gateshead, Co Durham, in 1948 before she was adopted by Florence and Thomas Dimmock.

She later picked up her nickname from schoolmates at Hartlepool primary school, who teased her with a chorus of Incy Wincy Spider.

The name stuck and Wincey was born.

She left the school aged 16 and journeyed to France where she completed her baccalaureate before she enrolled at Strasbourg University.

Willis then returned to the northeast in 1975, securing a behind-the-scenes role at Radio Tees in Stockton-on-Tees.

She then made the move to the screen after being invited  invited to audition for the position of weather presenter for Tyne Tees regional TV,

And just a year later Wincey was awarded her own series on Granada titled Wincey’s Pets.

Sam, 39, initially starred as Adam from 2004 until 2007 – having taken over from Iain de Caestecker.

He reprised the role in 2016 and has remained part of Corrie’s ensemble cast ever since.

ITV insiders told The Sun that Sam’s new contract option takes him up to November 2026.

Viewers most recently saw Adam on-screen in March – where he told girlfriend Alya Nazir that she couldn’t work at his firm.

Taking notice of his absence, fans soon took to X, formerly Twitter.

One wrote: “Where’s Adam Barlow May I ask?

” Last seen onscreen 7th March 2025. Somebody do something.”

Another added: “I noticed that, maybe he will be back on screen soon, hopefully he isn’t a character that’s going to get axed x.”

While a third shared: “You’d think with all the criminals on the street currently there would be a few scenes of him representing clients and inside his office?”

Despite this time off-screen, fans now need not worry about Adam’s future on the soap.

Since returning from Canada in 2016 to look after his grandfather Ken Barlow (William Roache) following his stroke, Adam has become a prominent solicitor for the locals of Weatherfield.

Around the same time, he was one of the central suspects to attempted mrdr after Ken was pushed down the stairs.

He wed Sarah Platt in 2020 – only for the marriage to break down in 2023 after her affair with bad boy Damon Hay.

Sarah fell pregnant as a result of the affair, and Adam was left heartbroken and seeking revenge.

In late 2024, the soap began revisiting Adam’s romantic spark with former employee Alya Nazir.

History of the Coronation Street set

    By Jake Penkethman, TV Reporter

1960-1968 – Whilst the Coronation Street set remained on Quay Street for 53 years, it actually had three separate studio sites. The first was an entirely indoor wooden set which was used for the first eight years of filming. This encompassed a replica of the Street built entirely indoors. The set was known to be awkward for actors to use and the houses brought to three quarter scale.

1968-1982 – In 1968, the addition of an outdoor set was created to adjoin the existing indoor set which was still used for filming right up until 1982. The set was used only when required with many of the show’s cast reportedly hating it and describing it as ‘the coldest place on Earth’.

1982-2013 – A brand new set was officially constructed in 1982 and was almost built fully to scale but still only permitted for one car to drive down the cobbled street. The house were purpose-built using reclaimed Salford brick in order to give it the most authentic feel possible. During these years, some of the show’s buildings were adapted to allow for both interior and exterior filming at the same time. These locations included Elliott’s Butchers, Barlow’s Buys, Prima Doner and Webster’s Autos. The final scenes to be recorded on this site occurred in December 2013. By early 2014, it began operating as a tourist attraction for around two years before ultimately being demolished and re-purposed in 2017.

2014-present – In early 2014, the show’s set moved to the TV hub of the North – MediaCityUK in nearby Salford Quays. It is now located a stone’s throw from major TV studio Dock 10 as well as the BBC’s base in the North – home to Blue Peter, Newsround, BBC Breakfast and BBC Sport. The new set was even bigger and built to 9/10 the scale of a real street and allowed for two card to be travelling down the road at opposite sides for the very first time. The site has even undergone major expansions during its 10 years. Just four years after opening in 2018, a brand new set extension was unveiled which introduced viewers to Victoria Gardens for the first time in its history. The Weatherfield North tram stop also became visible as did a series of shops which became used as part of product placement advertising deals. Brands to have been seen on the Street so far include a Co-Op, a Costa Coffee and a branch of Hay’s Travel. Four years later in 2022, another brand new set was unveiled, this time being the heavily mentioned Weatherfield Precinct. It became the first time in 62 years that the area had ever been seen on screens. It fearued a variety of shop fronts, a playground and a number of small flats which have begun to house more and more residents on the street in recent months.

They had explored a romance before Alya temporarily left the cobbles for a six month placement at a top law firm.

Last July, The Sun told how Sam had signed a new contract to keep him on the soap for another year.

A source said at the time: “Everyone was so happy Sam agreed to stay another year – they’ve got some good storylines in the pipeline for his character so it’s going to be an exciting year.”

The news was confirmed to The Sun after a Reddit user made contact with the owner, who also supplied the iconic EastEnders dog Wellard.

Announcing the news, they told The Sun: “My dog who played Terence last worked on the show in 2009, though another dog from a different company played the role for a few more episodes.

“Afraid Terence and Wellard, who I also supplied, are unfortunately long gone now. They are never with us long enough.”

Terence made his first appearance on 29 October 2001 when Billy Mitchell gave the dog to Janine Butcher as a gift for her 18th birthday.

Known as the “glam dog” of Albert Square, Terence was often seen accompanying Janine and featured in key scenes – including moments with Archie Mitchell and Ricky Butcher during their final episodes in December 2009.

In response to the post, one fan wrote: “I’m so glad they lived such a full life full of love.”

Someone else said: “So sad to hear. Doggy goes to heaven.”

The most recent real-life d3@th of an EastEnders star was Kathryn Apanowicz, who passed away at age 64 on March 12 after a prolonged illness.

She was known for her role as Magda Czajkowski – a café caterer involved with “Dirty” Den Watts – during the late 1980s to early 1990s

Before her, the next passing was Arnold Yarrow, who d13d on December 9, aged 104.

BREAKING NEWS: Princess Kate’s Mysterious Health Sparks Royal Family Unease?

The Princess of Wales sparked concern as she pulled out of attending Royal Ascot yesterday, apparently at the last minute.

But royal sources insisted there was nothing to worry about and that it was simply a case of crossed wires.

Aides also stressed that Catherine was continuing to ‘balance her return to public life’ following her cancer diagnosis last year, after which she made clear that she would resume her duties with a slow and measured approach.

The mini-drama came as her husband, Prince William, handed out the prize for the Prince of Wales stakes at the racecourse in Berkshire.

Executives at Ascot had expected the princess to join him, travelling down in the carriage procession from Windsor Castle with King Charles and Queen Camilla.

At 12pm they issued the procession list for the day, featuring the Prince and Princess of Wales in the second carriage after the King and Queen.

But 22 minutes later, guidance was issued which said Catherine would not be attending. It is understood an ‘inaccurate version’ of the list was ‘issued in error’.

An updated list was circulated and Lord Soames – a good friend of the King – lost his seat to make way for William in the first carriage with Charles and Camilla.

They were also joined by Saudi’s Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Saud.

Sources stressed there was ‘no cause for alarm’ and Catherine was following guidance palace aides have always given: that she would ‘balance her return to public duties’, following appearances at Trooping the Colour on Saturday and Monday’s Order of the Garter service.

They added that she was ‘disappointed’ not to attend but ‘has to find the right balance’.

Catherine, 43, had abdominal surgery last January, after which she was told cancer had been present, forcing her to undergo preventive chemotherapy.

At the beginning of this year she revealed she was in remission and would begin a slow and measured return to royal life.

While Catherine was not present at Ascot, Charles and Camilla were there for the second day running and plan to attend all week.

Her Majesty wore an emerald crepe silk dress by Anna Valentine, with a matching hat by Philip Treacy and an emerald and diamond drop brooch which belonged to Queen Elizabeth.

The Princess of Wales’s mother Carole Middleton also attended, alongside her daughter-in-law Alizee Thevenet, the wife of Kate’s brother James Middleton.

The King hosted Lady Sarah Chatto, the daughter of his late aunt Princess Margaret and a favourite of the late Queen.

She was joined on the fourth carriage by her artist husband Daniel Chatto. Also in the procession were the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, who sat in the second carriage.

The royal procession is celebrating its 200th anniversary, a tradition begun in 1825 when George IV was accompanied by the Duke of Wellington.

The King and his wife have continued Queen Elizabeth’s close association with the Berkshire race meet, but they had no luck when their horse Reaching High was beaten in the Ascot Stakes.

The late Queen was a passionate owner of thoroughbreds and had more than 20 Royal Ascot winners during her 70-year reign.

SH0CKING BAD NEWS: “I can’t” – Jeremy Clarkson Reveals SERIOUS HEALTH CONDITION – May Not Be Able to Continue Filming, Fans Left Stunned!

Jeremy Clarkson has given supporters an update on his health just months after he had a brush up with d3ath.

Speaking about cars in his column in The Sunday Times, Jeremy revealed: ‘I have a trapped nerve in my back at the moment.

‘It’s fine but I’m doing anything, but in the G 580 (a Mercedes motor), not doing anything is impossible because it pitches and rolls all the time, and you never have any idea what it’s going to do next.

‘So you can’t ever brave yourself. Getting out of this and back into Lisa’s Range Rover was like getting out of an economy seat on a new airline called Air Turbulent nd into a bed at the world’s most peaceful hotel’.

The former Top Gear presenter, 65, has begun filming for series five of Clarkson’s Farm following the success of the recently released fourth installment.

Dubbed more ‘sweary and politically incorrect than ever’, the latest insight into Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm saw him navigate a host of challenges such as the opening of his new Farmer’s Dog pub.

But as he prepared for the boozer’s first day in business last summer, Jeremy became ‘more and more ill’ and ultimately had to undergo life-saving surgery to hold his arteries open – something detailed in the new series.

The presenter has indeed been keeping a close eye on his health since his scare late last year.

Jeremy undergoes a medical MOT ‘every couple of years’, with his latest check-up seeing him sit through ‘eight solid hours of thoroughness’.

He shared that he underwent a cardiovascular and liver test, an ultrasound, MRI scan, none of which gave him any cause for concern until it came to the pr0state 3xam.

A pr0state 3xam is where a doctor checks the prostate by inserting their finger into the rectum.

And the Clarkson’s Farm star admitted that he couldn’t understand how machines can ‘spot what’s happening in every part of your body, apart from your bottom’.

He wrote in an earlier column: ‘They can photograph your ventricles and every bit of your brain, but if they want to know what’s going on with your prostate, which lives in the anus, for some reason, the doctor has to put his finger in there. I can 0nly assme it’s b3cause he likes it.’

But the former Top Gear star added that he knows the check is for his own good, and said he is happy doing the exam to make sure ‘he’s not going to drop d3ad in the morning’.

After a worrying health scare last year in which he came ‘days from d3ath’, the Diddly Squat farmer is now suffering with a ‘trapped nerve’ in his back

Jeremy Clarkson stunned over shocking value of three ‘jumbrellas’

He continued: ‘The truth is, we do need to know this stuff. I’ve had too many friends go down with prostate cancer, and all it takes to get on top of the situation early is a moment or two of being a bit cross-eyed. You get the all-clear and the doc goes home happy. What’s not to like?

‘I went home very happy, because the initial probing and photographing suggests all is well. And let me tell you, nothing makes you feel better than knowing for sure you’re not going to drop d3ad tomorrow morning.’

Jeremy did however come terrifyingly close to d3ath during the filming of Clarkson’s Farm season four.

As he was working on the opening of The Farmer’s Dog, he became ‘more and more ill’ before getting ‘in a right panic’ as he lost all of his sense of humour and ‘ability to stay calm’.

Clarkson underwent an urgent two hour surgery to hold his arteries open, improve blood flow to his heart and relieve his chest pain.

Jeremy was told by doctors that ‘a lot’ of his current work will have ‘to go’, and suggested replacing it with golf.

Although Jeremy said there was little chance he would stop working, he admitted his new diet was ‘horrific’ and the renowned meat-eater said he was struggling to ‘make celery interesting’.

So he turned to 0zemp1c – used to treat diabetes – but it left him feeling unwell again and finished his use half a stone heavier than when he started.

Despite losing almost two stone in the last six months after turning to M-unjar0, Clarkson admitted that his wife Lisa Hogan (right) has ‘given up’ on making him look presentable

Writing in his column in The Times in March, he said: ”My body lost the ability to deal with gluttony but once the initial enthusiasm had worn off, my mind still wanted to breakfast on Cadbury Fruit & Nut.

‘This meant I was sick a lot. And after I had v0mited, I figured I was empty and could have another b0ttle and maybe another bar of ch0c0late too.’

‘Microdosing’ M-unjar0 has done the trick however, a drug which mimicks out hormones that help regulate appetite and blood sugar.

Jeremy has lost almost two stone and is now sporting a slimmer, healthier look – he insists that his girlfriend Lisa Hogan has ‘given up’ on making him look good however.

Jeremy told The Sun: ‘Lisa’s given up on trying to make me look presentable. I mean, I’ve never heard such nonsense. Trimming eyebrows? What does it matter? I’m 65, it’s not like I’m David Gandy.’

He added: ‘I lost about a stone and a half, maybe a little more, and then it’s just levelled out now. I think I eat pretty well, I just drink too much – that’s the essence of it.

‘If I could just do something about that, but then I think, “what’s the point?”‘

“I kept getting rejected for roles over and over. I thought I wasn’t good enough – BUT I was sh0cked to find out the Real Reason” – Meghan Markle opens up about the Heartbreak that left everyone Stunned!

Meghan Markle has claimed she struggled to get acting roles early in her career because she is m1xed r@ce.

The Duchess of Sussex told how she would get plenty of auditions but was regularly rejected by directors – which was a ‘lot to chip away at your self-esteem’.

Meghan, who eventually rose to fame in US legal drama Suits from 2011, said she was often put forward for ‘girl next door’ roles because she was ‘hlf wh1te’.

But she said these characters were ‘typically blond-haired, blue-eyed and a certain look’ – and if they ‘had any s0rt of ethn1city, there was always a bit of an 3dge’.

The Duchess made the comments on a wide-ranging interview with entrepreneur Emma Grede on her Aspire podcast, during which she also she would ‘ask people to tell the truth’ if she was able to rewrite her public narrative from scratch.

Meghan, whose mother Doria Ragland is black and whose father Thomas Markle is wh1te, said: ‘When I was an auditioning actress and this was well before Suits, you have to think at that time there were certainly not a lot of m1xed r@ce parts.’

Grede replied: ‘Really?’ Meghan then insisted: ‘No’ – and Grede again said: ‘Really?’

Meghan continued: ‘No, there weren’t a lot. If I was going in for an audition – you have to remember this was a very different time than it is now – it was Girl Next Door.

‘That was typically blond-haired, blue-eyed and a certain look. But because I’m hlf wh1te, I would also be submitted for those roles and then if it was a character that had any s0rt of ethn1city, there was always a bit of a 3dge to those characters.

‘But I’d be submitted for those roles and I also, to a lot of people in casting, they thought I was Lat1na. So I share that because, and I’ve shared this before, because it was a numbers game.

‘If I’m only up for 10 parts, that could be 10 nos, but if I’m up for 30 parts because I can fit into so many different rooms, that could be 30 nos. That is a lot to chip away that is a lot to chip away at your self-esteem – that is really hard.’

The Duchess said that she ‘went through my chapter of self-doubt as an auditioning actor and beyond that’, adding that ‘when you’re so consumed with what everyone around you thinks of you, that can be a really hard way to live’.

She told how in her 40s and as a mother, she wanted to set an example for what her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are ‘going to think about themselves’.

Meghan continued: ‘You can’t have an imposter syndrome around. You have to be so authentically the role model and the example of confidence, self-forgiveness, kindness, fun – all of those things, you can’t fake that.

‘You want to model that for them, so all of that really shifted in the past six years of becoming a mom for me.’

In addition, the Duchess a ‘briefcase girl’ – one of the models who hold the suitcases full of cash – on the US version of Deal Or No Deal.

Later in the podcast discussion, which came out yesterday, Grede asked Meghan whether she had any skills from her acting career that were transferable into the ‘new entrepreneurial world that you’re in’.

And the Duchess replied: ‘Of course. I mean, again, having a thick skin – partnerships and the value of you know having great relationships when what you when you’re building certainly lots of different SKUs (stock keeping units) is key.

‘And so a piece of advice I was given years ago as an auditioning actress was don’t try to book the part, book the room. Meaning it doesn’t matter if you don’t get that role, you might not be right for it, you might remind the director of an ex-girlfriend that broke his heart.

‘It could be any number of reasons – it’s not about the part. You’re going to see those producers and those casting directors at so many other opportunities – book the room, let them see that you’re talented, let them see you have something to bring to the table.

‘Treat them with kindness, all of those relationships end up coming to fruition – you don’t know when. But just like with life, relationships matter. So I learned that in the very long road of auditioning, for sure.’

The Duchess was also asked whether she ever missed acting, and said: ‘Sometimes, sometimes.

‘But you know what, actually, having a large team being back on set with With Love, Meghan was great because I realised how much I had missed my crew. I love being around a crew.’

Meghan has previously spoken in her own podcast about how being m1xed r@ce impacted her acting auditions.

During episode five of Confessions of a Female Founder, released on May 5, she said: ‘I heard ‘no’ all the time, especially because I wasn’t cookie cutter for a specific type. At the start of my auditioning career you were either the black girl or the while girl or the Lat1na girl.

‘Everything was typecast, so being mixed I could get into a lot of rooms, that meant as a numbers game I heard ‘no’ even more.’

During the latest podcast, Grede also asked Meghan: ‘I want to say this to you in the best way, because I wonder if you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything that you would do differently?’

The Duchess replied calmly: ‘Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth.’

Meghan gave no specifics about to whom who she was referring, but later referred to a ‘lie’ told eight years ago – in another apparent dig about her life in the public eye as a member of the Royal Family since she began a relationship with Harry.

Grede, a founding partner of Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand Skims, said: ‘You’re very measured about it. I would just get so angry if I felt like everyone was lying about me all the time …’

Meghan said: ‘Peaks and valleys… Of course, I’ve gone through those chapters and you do a lot of work, you do a lot of self work and go, what’s the why? It’s happening for a reason.’

She added that her ‘dear friend’ tennis champion Serena Williams told her ‘a lie can’t live forever’.

The Duchess said: ‘She told me years ago, a lie can’t live forever. Eight years is a long time, but not forever.’

Eight years ago, in 2017, Meghan was dating and became engaged to Prince Harry, and began preparing for life as a member of the royal family.

The year also included Meghan’s first meeting with Kate and the beginnings of Prince William’s fall out with Harry after William urged his brother not to rush into the relationship.

Britain stunned by BBC documentary “The Contestant” – Humanity’s DARKEST instincts exposed – Nasubi’s 15-month ordeal in a disturbing Reality Show!

BBC viewers were left ‘in tears and screaming at the TV’ after a documentary about an ‘absurdly cruel’ reality show which saw a contestant stripped n@k3d, st@rv3d and locked up alone for a year.

Storyville: The Contestant, which hit BBC iPlayer last night, tells the incredible story of 1998 Japanese show Susunu!Denpa Shonen, or Do Not Proceed, Crazy Youth.

Aspiring comedian Tomoaki Hamatsu, then 22, was locked up, asked to strip n@k3d and tasked with entering mail-in magazine competitions until he won one million yen (around £6,000).

The man, who auditioned for the programme, was told he could leave at any time – but he decided to persist to complete the challenge, staying for a total of 15 months.

He thought the footage would be aired on TV at a later date – but what he did not know was it was actually being broadcast live to around 17million people per week.

The documentary, originally created in 2023, has shocked BBC viewers since hitting its on-demand platform last night, who took to X to express their horror.

One said: ‘Watching The Contestant and that producer should be in prison for t0rtur3 and wr cr1mes that violate the UN.’

The commenter mentioned the man’s nickname Nasubi, Japanese for ‘aubergine’, a cartoon image of which was used by producers to cover his genitals on the show.

They continued: ‘What he did to Nasubi is absurdly cruel and the entire industry of reality television should be burned to the ground.’

Another commented: ‘I don’t think I’ve ever yelled, “That’s so damn unethical”, as much as I have while watching The Contestant.’

Someone else said: ‘The Contestant was gut wrenching. Nasubi is such a sweet genuine soul. I was in tears by the end!

‘I hope they compensated him even outside of the fundraising they did. One year and three months of film and book sales.

‘Pay that man. Producer was wrong as hell for that.’

One person added: ‘If it sounds like The Truman Show, that’s because it basically is.

‘They film Nasubi’s life for over a year, living in ridiculously cramped conditions and winning very little until late into the game.

‘His conditions are worse than being a prisoner in jail. It’s completely 1nhum@ne.’

Another echoed this sentiment: ‘The producer on The Contestant should be in jail.’

Someone else praised Nasubi’s resilience: ‘The Contestant is a hard watch but Nasubi is one of the most beautiful people in the world. Wow.’

Another commenter weighed in: ‘This is all so very bizarre! I can’t believe people watched this poor guy on TV.’

Not only did he have to accrue prize money from the magazine competitions, he had to win everything he needed to survive too – including food, clothing and toilet roll.

He ate undignified meals such as 5kg of uncooked rice, before he was forced to resort to eating wet dog food on day 80.

Nasubi was stripped of all his belongings and clothes and left alone with nothing but stacks of magazines, postcards, running water, electricity and heating – without ever signing a contract.

His mental state got to the point that he admitted he w1shed for d3ath – but he tried to stay sane by writing diaries, dancing and playing games.

The live stream of his endeavours was one segment, dubbed A Life In Prizes, of the larger programme, which saw lots of ordinary people take on crazy tasks.

In an interview with The Sun, he said: ‘The loneliness affected me much more than not being able to eat or not having clothes.

‘There were so many moments where I thought it probably would be better to di3 now than keep going.

‘The toughest moment was when the rice ran out and I needed to face up to eating dog food. I didn’t want to eat it but there was no alternative.’

Nasubi admitted that he was in ‘such em0tional turm0il that I couldn’t sleep’ and at points even h@lluc1nat3d to the extent he believed he had been ‘abducted by aliens’.

In his diaries, he wrote: ‘I don’t have enough nutrition going to my brain. Being driven to the edge has brought out a madness in me.’

When he finally reached the number of winnings needed, Nasubi was eventually freed – but producers soon conned him into returning to the hellish experience.

He was flown to what he thought was a celebratory trip to Korea – where the producers worked for three hours to convince him to go through the process again.

Nasubi pleaded: ‘I thought my life was over. So many times I wanted to di3.’

He ended up competing for several more weeks, taking him to 434 days in isolation.

The contestant then returned to Japan, where he entered another apartment and stripped n@k3d, thinking he was about to be subjected to the same turmoil again.

But the walls then collapsed to reveal a TV studio with a live audience of fans, with him becoming aware for the first time that his ordeal had been seen by millions.

He had become an icon during his long ordeal, with the Truman Show-esque programme poking fun at him with slapstick noises and suggestive censoring.

‘Without his knowledge or consent’, as the BBC iPlayer synopsis explains, ‘Nasubi became the most famous television personality in Japan’.

As well as the record-breaking viewing figures, his diaries from inside also became a bestseller.

But Nasubi was not ready to meet his new fans and reportedly needed six months to rehabilitate back into normal life.

The lack of interaction and food had left his speech slow and body malnourished, while he struggled to make eye contact or talk to other people.

He admitted: ‘After A Life In Prizes, I lost my faith in humanity. I had a void in my heart, like a black hole.

‘My loneliness could only be filled by those around me. It was their support and affection that filled that void.

‘A human’s love or that kind of spirit of helping each other – that’s what it’s all about.’

The documentary about it combines clips from the show with never-before-seen footage, alongside interviews with Nasubi, his family and the programme’s producer.

The synopsis continues: ‘This is the incredible story of how one man became a national phenomenon that presaged the global rise of reality TV.’

Nasubi has recently spoken out about his experience 25 years on, telling Time he is trying to move forward despite still feeling ‘hatred’ for the show’s producer.

He said: ‘I’ve realised that I cannot change the past but by changing how I think about who I am today I can always change the future.

‘When you put energy into other people rather than just focussing on yourself, you become stronger than you could ever imagine.’

Fortunately, Nasubi has managed to turn the negatives of his time on the series into positives.

The contestant completed his goal of climbing Mount Everest in 2016, saying the resilience he gained from reality TV had come good for him in the climb.

And the fame he garnered as a result of the show has enabled him to get regular guest appearances on a range of thankfully less traumatic panel and game shows.

Taking part in a Reddit Ask Me Anything last year, Nasubi answered questions from curious fans about his traumatic experience.

He explained the door had been unlocked during his time in the apartment but his mental state ‘degraded’ to the point he decided to stay.

The contestant said: ‘I was not offered a contract. I won an audition, and wanted to participate and complete the challenge.

‘The option was “Do you want to do it?” and I said, “Yes”.

‘So, I was not forced to do it, I was not kidnapped. I was taken to a secret location and blindfolded but I wasn’t taken against my will. I decided to participate.’

Nasubi went on: ‘It’s hard to explain, but I think that the people who have experienced being locked in confinement, and felt what it’s like to be trapped in those walls, will understand why one chooses to stay instead of leave.

‘My mental state was degrading… instead of changing the environment, it felt safer to stay in the same situation, even though it was uncomfortable.’

He added: ‘I didn’t think that the competition would last that long. The door wasn’t locked, but I was determined to stay with it until the end.

‘You could say it was Yamato Spirit, or Japanese spirt, I would not quit.’

When asked if he had known he would be televised and what money he made from the show, Nasubi explained: ‘Of course I didn’t know it was being broadcasted.

‘Back in the early days of reality TV in Japan, they didn’t give contracts to participants, it was an entirely new genre of TV.

‘And my manager did not protect me in the same way that TV stars are protected now.

‘For compensation, I made ten million yen for one year and three months and that includes the money from the sale of my diaries from the show.’

He added: ‘I didn’t receive any kindness or support from the crew.

‘And since I didn’t know the show was being broadcast to an audience, I didn’t have any connection to the audience to receive that support.

‘After the show was over though, the two emcees that were on [the programme], they encouraged me by saying that I did a good job, and I felt like they empathised with me and my situation on the show.’

Speaking about what life was like once he was released, he admitted: ‘For a while it was hard to interact with people.

‘But I did realise that humans cannot live alone, so I did my best to reconnect with people.’

He also spoke about the parallels of his ordeal to the award-winning film The Truman Show, which was released the same year A Life of Prizes aired.

He said: ‘Yes, I saw the film. The only person who really truly understands the feeling of what Truman went through is me. It felt like it was my story.

‘His life was much easier than what I had but it was a similar situation that everyone was watching both Truman and me and we had no idea we were being observed.’

Nasubi added: ‘I am still recognised on the street, even 25 years later. I was even recognised in London and when I went to Stonehenge in 2018!

‘There were a bunch of Japanese tourists who couldn’t believe I was there. I think they were more excited to take photos with me than Stonehenge.’

Despite his awful experience, Nasubi said he had no desire to take revenge or legal action and explained he is now working with charities to help others.

He wrote: ‘I never thought of solving the problem with violence. Because violence doesn’t solve anything.

‘But then, would I want to sue them and punish them by law? The answer would be no, because that would make some people sad and injured, and that was not what I wanted to do. Even if I get hurt, I want to protect people around me.

‘Instead of revenge, I would like to use that energy for something more positive, like helping people.’

Heartbreaking new details surrounding the passing of celebrity chef Anne Burrell have now emerged.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Burrell was found unresponsive and lying on the shower floor by her husband Stuart Claxton early Tuesday morning.

Claxton reportedly last saw his wife alive at approximately 1AM the night prior before discovering her unconscious between six to seven hours later in their bathroom.

Claxton contacted 911 and was allegedly advised by the operator to perform CPR on Burrell.

However, her body was said to be cold and it is not known if he performed CPR.

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Food Network and Burrell for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The beloved Food Network star — who famously hosted Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-hosted Worst Cooks in America — di3d at age 55 at her Brooklyn, New York apartment on Tuesday.

The TV chef – who became synonymous with her trademark spiky platinum hair – is survived by husband Stuart Claxton, whom she wed in October 2021 in an autumn-themed ceremony and reception in her hometown of Cazenovia, New York.

She is also survived by her mother Marlene and sister Jane and her children Isabella, Amelia and Nicolas, and her brother Ben.

Anne developed a passion for cooking at a young age, inspired by her mother’s home-cooked meals and by watching food icon Julia Child on television.

After earning a degree in English and Communications from Canisius College in Buffalo in 1991, she followed her culinary dreams and enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, graduating in 1996.

‘We corresponded for years, having a wonderful laugh, she was a hoot. And what a great career! Adored her. Well done, Wincey, night darling.’

Born Florence Winsome Leighton, she was given the nickname Wincey, after the nursery rhyme when she started school.

The channel’s first national female forecaster, she di3d on December 18 2024, with the news being made public on Wednesday

Famous for her magnificent blonde hair, Willis was already a minor star when she took on the forecasting role and had presented her own show, Wincey’s Pets, in 1982.

She had joined ITV’s national programme from Tyne Tees Television, where she had been a forecaster despite admitting that she was not a specialist.

In 1985, she starred on Treasure Hunt alongside Anneka Rice and devised a board game called The Weather Game.

Wincey then left full-time TV in 1987 and spent years devoted to wildlife conservation.

She went on to star in pantomime and also wrote three books, It’s Raining Cats and Dogs (1986) and Greendays (1990).

At one point she lived in a tent in Greece for six months while guarding a turtle population.

She did return to screens as a wildlife presenter in 1993 but subsequent TV appearances have been few and far between.

‘They were all taking, him and their mates, their PlayStations to the hotel.

‘I was like, “You’re all a bunch of d***s. Why are you all excited over playing PlayStation when you’re going to be a husband?”‘

The 28-year-old England forward insisted getting hitched would not stop him from playing video games.

Dani continued: ‘He went, “Yeah, that don’t change nothing, I’m still playing”.’

‘I said, “I don’t know, we’ll probably just be hanging, like, we’ll come home”. He went, “Oh, no, I just didn’t know if I could play football champs on the Sunday”.’

‘I went, “Yeah play football champs, that’s fine Jarrod, absolutely”,’ she added.

Dani and Jarrod – who got engaged in July 2024 during a romantic getaway to Ibiza, Spain, after three years of dating – said I do in front of close friends and family members.

Their two-year-old twin daughters, Summer and Star, were on flower girls duties, while Dani’s four-year-old son Santiago – who she has with her 29-year-old ex-partner Sammy Kimmence – and her 11-year-old brother Arty were page boys.

The TV personality wowed her husband and their wedding guests as she donned a £10,000 off-the-shoulder dress, created by the award-winning wedding dress designer Suzanne Neville.

The pair locked lips in front of white floral arrangements.

Captioning a highlights video of her and Jarrod’s wedding day on Instagram, Dani wrote: ‘The best day of my entire life and a day that I will want to re-live forever.’

After tying the knot, the loved-up couple jetted out of the UK to Italy‘s stunning Lake Como.
