Gogglebox has become one of the most popular shows on the telly box since it first hit our screens 12 (yes, TWELVE) years ago and, in that time, we’ve seen lots of cast members come and go from their sofas.

It’s easy to get attached to the cast seeing as we spend our Friday nights with them, but some iconic Goggleboxers are sadly no longer with us.

Here’s a look back at all the Gogglebox d3aths over the years, including some OG cast members…

    Bob Malone – June 2025

Shaun Malone recently took to Instagram to share the sad news that one of the family dogs, Bob, has passed away. ‘Today is the day we had to say goodbye to big Bob, an absolutely great dog like a big cuddly bear,’ he wrote. Mum Julie added, ‘We are heartbroken, RIP our beautiful Big Bob xx.’

    George Gilbey, 40 – March 2024

George Gilbey, who appeared on Gogglebox on and off between 2013 and 2018 alongside his mum Linda and step-dad Pete, d13d suddenly on Wednesday 27 March 2024 after suffering a fall while working as an electrician.

On their official X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Gogglebox wrote, “George was part of the Gogglebox family for eight series alongside his mum Linda and step-dad Pete. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Linda, and George’s family and friends at this very sad time.”

Geordie Shore’s Ricci Guarnacio, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother with George in 2014, said, “You are well and truly going to be missed my friend. Always lit up the room, cared for others and the memories we made I’ll cherish forever brother.”

    Mummy Pat, 75 – January 2024

Stephen Webb announced the d3ath of his popular co-star mum who had been battling a long illness on Instagram in January 2024, writing, “Mummy Pat, you were one in a million, took everyone at face value, would share your last fiver with a stranger, the salt of the earth and the absolute centre of our world! Rest in peace mum ❤️.”

Gogglebox released the following statement shortly after, “Pat was a much loved cast member on the show from series 10 to 12 alongside her son Stephen.

“Mummy Pat will be remembered and missed by her children Stephen, Denise, Sharon, Beverley and the extended family.”

    Dave Malone, 12 – October 2023

In October 2023, the Malone family announced the passing of their beloved pet dog and Gogglebox regular Dave the Rottweiler.

“There are no words to describe the pain we are feeling or how much we loved you Dave xx RIP XX You helped everyone see the true lovable nature of Rotties. We were blessed to have you for 12and a half years xx” the family posted to Twitter.

    Forever a good boy.

    Mary Cook, 92 – August 2021

Mary, who appeared on the show with her best friend and fellow resident at a retirement home in Bristol, Marina Wingrove, passed away in hospital in August 2021.

A statement from Channel 4 said, “We are extremely saddened to share that Gogglebox star Mary Cook passed away in hospital this weekend at the age of 92 with her family by her side.

“Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to many, Mary, who worked in the hospitality trade, had been married and widowed twice.

“Bristolians Mary and Marina met at St Monica Trust retirement village over ten years ago and had been friends ever since. They joined Gogglebox in 2016 at the start of series eight and became instant fan favourites due to their brilliantly witty and often cheeky comments. Mary will be sorely missed by the entire Gogglebox family, cast and crew.

“Our love and thoughts are with Mary’s family, friends and Marina. The family have asked for privacy at this sad time.”

    Andy Michael, 61 – August 2021

Just days after Mary’s d3ath, Channel 4 shared the sad news that Andy Michael had d13d.

They said, “We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Gogglebox star Andy Michael at the age of 61 following a short illness. Andy passed away last weekend with his family by his side.

“Retired hotelier Andy, who brought much wit and insight to Gogglebox, was one of the show’s original cast members, appearing in the very first episode in 2013.

“Beloved father to Katy, Alex, Pascal and Louis, and cherished husband of Carolyne, Andy was a much-loved and respected member of the Gogglebox family, and he will be very sadly missed.

“Our love and thoughts are with Carolyne and the entire family. The family have asked for privacy at this very sad time.”

    Pete McGarry, 71 – June 2021

In June 2021, Pete McGarry’s wife Linda announced that Pete had passed away from bowel cnc3r just days after he was told he had six months to live.

Pete and Linda joined Gogglebox in 2013 and had been regulars on the show with her son George Gilbey.

Linda paid tribute to her husband of 25 years saying, “Pete was a lovely man and I was so lucky to have him for 25 years.

“I said to him, ‘We’ve not only been [together] 25 years, it’s been day and night with each other.’ He was my life.

“I have a message from a young lad I know who said, ‘Ordinary people won’t be remembered, but we’ll remember Pete forever – like the pyramids.’ I thought that was beautiful.”

Leon and June Bernicoff, 83 – May 2020 and December 2017

June passed away in May 2020 after being absent from the show since her husband Leon’s d3ath in 2017.

Her co-star Scarlett Moffatt was one of the first to pay tribute to June, sharing a picture of her and Leon with the caption, “You will be missed by all. Reunited with your true love. Sending love to your family and all that knew you and loved you.”

Baasit Siddiqui tweeted, “Rest in peace, June. It was an honour to be on Gogglebox with June and Leon for all those years. June always took the time to message kind words to me and the boys which shows how lovely a person she was. All my love, thoughts and prayers to the entire family.”

“So Happy to be Back here” – Susanna Reid stuns everyone with BBC comeback after 11 years – Fans speculate a nightmare scenario for GMB if she returns ‘HOME’ after her Contract Ends!

Susanna Reid left fans ‘surprised and confused’ as she made a return to the BBC 11 years after quitting the channel’s Breakfast show.

Over the years Susanna, 54, has had a very successful career in the journalism industry, having worked for a number of the main broadcasters in the UK.

The 54-year-old is arguably best known for currently presenting ITV‘s Good Morning Britain, after taking on the role in 2014.

But some may have forgotten that she also used to work for one of ITV’s rival channels.

Susanna presented BBC Breakfast alongside Bill Turnbull, 66, and Charlie Stayt, 63, between 2001 and 2014.

And on Sunday she returned to take part in a panel with Laura Kuenssberg, 48.

    ‘Back @gmb tomorrow!’

Many rushed to the comments section to share how much they loved her being back on our screens on a Sunday – as she usually presents GMB Monday to Wednesdays, as well as an alternative Thursday between 6am and 9am.

    ‘Nice one…’

‘Yes I watched it just because you was on it.’

‘A nice surprise this morning! Usually guests are a bit boring!’

‘Nice to see you on TV this morning and on the Beeb back on itv in the morning – busy life.’

‘How much do you miss working at the BBC?’

‘You were brilliant Susanna and it was great to see you on a Sunday.’

BBC Breakfast isn’t the only show she worked on with the broadcaster.

Between 2010 and 2011 Susanna was also the presenter of BBC One’s Sunday Morning Live.

She joined the Beeb in back in 1994 as a news producer for BBC Radio Bristol.

She later joined Radio 5 Live.

Susanna presented BBC Breakfast alongside Bill between Monday and Wednesday.

The star also hosted alongside Charlie on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Susanna has also taken part in a number of other shows away from journalism, including Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Gogglebox.

It comes after Carol Kirkwood defiantly hit back at critics after waves of ‘dreadful abuse’ from BBC Breakfast viewers.

The 63-year-old has been a staple of the long-running breakfast programme, having joined all the way back in 1997.

Despite gathering a large and loyal fan base, Carol has revealed she’s been subjected to twisted trolls on social media.

However, the presenter who is also an author, has said it no longer bothers her, branding it ‘water off a duck’s back’.

Speaking to Radio Times, Carol said: ‘I am what I am, and I don’t really care what anybody thinks of me.

‘And in that sense, whether I’m a “weather girl” or a “weather presenter” or a “broadcast meteorologist” doesn’t really bother me.

‘I’m just doing my job to the best of my ability and hopefully improving myself on a daily basis, whether people think I’m capable or not. Titles don’t really matter.’

Addressing her trolls and the ‘dreadful things’ they’ve said to her, she hit back: ‘That’s water off a duck’s back to me now.

‘Or maybe that should be heavy rain off a duck’s back?’

Michelle Heaton has revealed the stern advice Katie Price gave her after her alcoholism battle saw her resorting to ‘deceitful’ tricks to hide her problems.

The Liberty X star, 45, is now four years sober after she nearly died and was hospitalised in 2021 during her battle with dr1nk and dgs.

At the height of her battle, the singer drank two bottles of wine and a bottle of vodka ‘virtually every day since 2018’, when an intervention led by Katie Price resulted in her checking herself into rehab.

Visibly glowing, Michelle appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday alongside hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley to discuss her battle.

She told how the last number of years saw her drinking escalate, which resulted in her losing jobs and family members cutting her out.

Michelle explained: ‘I was in and out of hospital, but I really thought I had control of my drinking. At some points I really enjoyed my drinking, it was very social, it was lockdown and we had those garden parties outside, and I had problems beforehand but it definitely escalated things.

‘There were lots of ups and downs, there were lots of periods where I was in hospital and I lost jobs, and members of my family and my friends just didn’t want to talk to me anymore.’

At the height of her battle, Michelle was hiding bottles of alcohol from her husband and even placing it inside a sparkling water bottle.

She said: ‘I was hiding my alcohol from my husband… I would be openly drinking in front of him, maybe a bottle of wine a night, and that’s what he thought was my normal.

‘I suppose at the time, everyone was drinking a lot more, but it was more… I would have a bottle of vodka [in addition] usually, and the thing is, I would always swear that I wouldn’t do it again tomorrow, and I would promise myself that I wouldn’t drink like that tomorrow and then by 3 o’clock in the afternoon, it was all out the window.

    ‘I could not stop. I was d3pendent on alc0hol.’

It was ex-glamour model Katie Price, 47, who has had her own battles with addiction, that spurred Michelle on it get help.

The singer recalled: ‘There was just one particular day I remember, I was with Katie [Price] and she was great at the time.

The Loose ladies got chatting about if they feel like they ‘have a purpose’ in life, which led onto them discussing work ethic.

And this led anchor Charlene to make a dig at the channel after it was revealed back in May that Lorraine and Loose Women have been axed for half the year – as ITV announced a big shake up to its daytime schedule amid huge cuts.

Charlene said: ‘I can’t imagine myself, like I would like to work as long as I am physically able to, and if I am still enjoying it.’

Just last month the MailOnline revealed that the show would be axing their live audience in a bid to save cash.

Coleen added: ‘Loose Women isn’t ending, which I’m so thankful for, but it’s changing.

The former Corrie star told the Express: ‘We’ve been through it at Corrie as well and these are people’s lives, and I just feel very much for all the production and the crew because people are struggling.

‘It’s affecting young families and it’s obviously been a pretty hard time for people to hear that.

‘But, you know, we have to just embrace change, and we’ll see what happens.’

And Nadia Sawalha, 60, has also shared her thoughts.

Speaking alongside her husband Mark Adderley on the couple’s YouTube channel she explained: ‘Do you know what? At the moment, all of us on screen are in work and are proud of what we do.

‘But behind the scenes, there are people that are really suffering and what you don’t realise is when you attack the show, you attack them, because you never see all the army of people behind the scenes and how hard they work.’

Struggling to hold back her tears, Nadia added: ‘So, to all my friends and colleagues behind the scenes who have just got a huge shock out of the blue: I’m so sorry.

‘Mark knows how upset I’ve been at home about it.

On Friday it was revealed that three ITV daytime shows have parachuted in to fill a void left by axed Loose Women and Lorraine episodes.

The Chase, Deal Or No Deal and Tipping Point have have even been given a ‘major boost’ on the schedule and according to The Sun, new episodes will be filming later this year.

Loose Women first aired in 1999 and has gone on to have 29 successful series.

This Morning host Natalie Anderson was flung into the camera and a crew member fell to the ground while presenting a competition segment on Tuesday’s show from a boat.

The actress, 43 – who currently plays Danielle Silverton in Coronation Street –  was presenting live from the idyllic island of Mykonos in Greece to tell viewers how they could get their hands on £250,000 cash.

Moments before being welcomed to our screens, Ben Shephard, 50, said: ‘What about a little Greek sunshine for you?

‘Natalie Anderson is live from Mykonos with the details on how you can become a quarter of a millionaire.

‘Another beautiful day in paradise, Natalie?’

While standing on a boat out at sea, Natalie replied in a sarcastic tone: ‘Isn’t it awful?  It’s terrible here, obviously I am joking guys!

‘It is absolutely beautiful here in Mykonos, one of Europe’s most popular summer destinations…

‘Yesterday was beach vibes, today we’re cruising with Orenda Cruises.

‘Please take a look at these views!

‘It is amazing, the sea is sparkling, the buildings are so white, it is incredibly glamorous…

‘It’s the perfect place to tell you about our huge competition!’

The waves started to become very high and Natalie gave a surprised look to the camera as she tried to get her balance.

But she soon let out a huge scream as she fell into the camera and crew.

The shot soon turned to a long shot of the stunning views, but viewers could still hear Natalie scrambling to get her balance amid lots of giggles.

Like a true professional, Natalie continued her segment: ‘Our amazing competition, we are giving away…’

A shot of Ben and Cat back in the London studio appeared on screen, with Cat saying: ‘That’s a big wave!’ and Ben in fits of laughter.

Natalie continued: ‘We are giving away £250,000 in totally tax free cash!’

And in the background one of the crew members – who wasn’t supposed to be in shot – was seen laughing to himself while hugging a light reflector having hit the deck of the boat.

Ben soon asked: ‘Natalie can we just check, is everybody all right on board, is the crew okay.

    ‘We didn’t lose anyone.’

Natalie replied: ‘We are all fine, we didn’t lose anybody.

‘This massive boat came and the waves… we weren’t expecting it.

Ben leaves Cat Deeley squirming with VERY rude swipe at her underwear

‘We’re all good now and we’ve resumed our glamorous lives.’

Later on in the episode, Natalie said: ‘We’re just about safe and sound.

‘We’ve come into the bay where it’s much, much calmer.

‘The crew is accounted for and I’ve found my sea legs.’

Gregg Wallace attacks BBC before publication of report on MasterChef allegations | Gregg Wallace | The Guardian

Gregg Wallace, the former MasterChef host, has been fired after a 9-month pr0be into inappr0priate b3haviour involving at least 13 women. On Instagram, Wallace insisted: “The most serious allegations were unf0unded,” and said he spoke out to protect his name.

The 60-year-old shared that the stress pushed him into dark th0ughts. He admitted, “Some jokes and words of mine were out of line,” but added he was always the “cheeky greengrocer” the show had hired.

Sources say BBC ended ties even though Wallace was cleared of the highest-profile claims from Penny Lancaster and Kirsty Wark. Wallace slammed: “Those truly guilty of serious claims were hidden in the public summary.”

After a 2018 incident over a compliment to a young runner, he became a “s0cial recluse,” avoiding contact to prevent misinterpretations. “I changed totally, but it cost me my social life,” he said.

He also accused the BBC of ignoring his d1sability and creating a “sterilised world” that crushed authenticity. The BBC plans to publish only an executive summary of the 200-page rep0rt, fueling more c0ntr0versy.

A new favourite to play James Bond has emerged, after Tom Holland was dubbed ‘too adorable’ for the role.

Supporters have been eagerly waiting to find out who will be the next star with a ‘license to kl’ after Daniel Craig relinquished the part with the 2021 film No Time To Die.

Following months of speculation, three names for the coveted role at last emerged on Tuesday from Coral Bookmakers with one lead actor back in the running.

Kick Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 35, is odds on favourite with Dunkirk actor Jack Lowden, also 35, and Netflix star Theo James, 40, following close behind.

Bookmaker Coral have reported seeing a strong wave of support behind Aaron with the British actor as the 9-4 favourite for the role.

Meanwhile Theo is second best in the betting at 4-1, while Jack is backed at 5-1.

Who should be the next James Bond?

‘The British actor remains the man punters are backing to replace Daniel Craig’.

However, it is believe to not be possible for Spiderman star Tom to bag the role of 007 as he begins filming Spider Man 4 – which has the reported working name Spider-Man: Brand New Day – in the coming months.

The studio announced on Wednesday that Denis Villeneuve – best known for directing Warner Bros.’ two-part Dune adaptation – has signed on to direct the untitled film Bond film, via Amazon press release.

The French-Canadian filmmaker, 57, will also serve as executive producer of the project alongside Tanya Lapointe.

Amazon had previously announced Amy Pascal and David Heyman as the film’s producers, after the studio parted ways with longtime 007 caretakers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

The news comes just over three years after Amazon completed its massive $8.5billion acquisition of MGM Studios that included the James Bond franchise.

The director said in a statement, ‘Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery.’

He added, ‘I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come.’

The filmmaker admitted: ‘This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor.’

He also went on to thank Bond producers Amy and David, adding they, ‘are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen. Thank you to Amazon MGM Studios for their trust’.

Amy and David added, ‘Denis Villeneuve has been in love with James Bond movies since he was a little boy.

‘It was always his dream to make this movie, and now it’s ours, too. We are lucky to be in the hands of this extraordinary filmmaker.’

After Amazon acquired MGM in 2022, they obtained full creative control of the 007 franchise with a deal they struck with Barbara and Michael, the offspring of original James Bond producer, Albert R. Broccoli.

New favourite to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond emerges

Barbara and Michael had been overseeing the franchise since 1995, when their father ceded control of his Eon Productions company to them.

Amazon reached an agreement with Barbara and Michael in March 2025, and while financial terms were not disclosed, it was rumored to be upwards of $1 billion.

Villeneuve made his directorial debut in 1998 with August 32nd on Earth, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival that year.

He followed that up with Maelstrom (2000), Polytechnique (2009) and Incendies (2010), the latter of which was nominated for Best International Film at the Academy Awards.

The filmmaker broke through in Hollywood with 2013’s Prisoners, a dark drama starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal.

He continued to win acclaim for 2013’s Enemy, 2015’s Sicario, 2016’s Arrival, 2017’s Blade Runner 2049 and, most recently, 2021’s Dune: Part One and 2024’s Dune: Part Two.

Speculation has continued to grow over who will be the next big-screen Bond and the Bond franchise also prompted a flurry of guesses as to where they might take the franchise next.

Bond has been spoiled with video game adaptations since the 1980s, with early adaptations taking the form of shooting games or text adventures in which players typed in what they wanted the super-spy to do.

Amazon bosses are currently said to be considering locations in which to set the much-anticipated new film, which experts predicted is likely to be released at the end of next year or in 2027.

Due to a filming ban being imposed in Central London next year, new locations are reportedly being considered – with Liverpool a frontrunner, according to The Sun.

An insider told the publication: ‘This will no doubt irk Bond purists who already fear Amazon taking over the 007 franchise may lead to them making big changes.

‘But Liverpool is a well-known alternative to London for film-makers.

‘It has appeared in everything from The Batman to Captain America and Harry Potter movies, doubling up as international cities.’

The source added that it doesn’t necessarily mean the story will be set in Liverpool – though eagle-eyed Merseysiders will no doubt spot their city centre in the background.

BREAKING SH0CK NEWS: BBC releases 200-page REPORT after 9-month Pr0be into Gregg Wallace’s ‘UNACCEPTABLE’ behaviour – Wallace hits BACK sparking fresh controversy!

Gregg Wallace has reportedly been fired following a nine month s3xual misc0nduct investigation.

But the former MasterChef star condemned the corporation in a scathing social media post saying he had been cleared of ‘the most serious and sensational accusations’.

Writing on Instagram, Wallace said he had taken the decision to go public before the Silkins report was published as ‘I cannot sit in silence while my reputation is further damaged to protect others’.

The 60-year-old had stepped down from MasterChef while complaints from 13 women about historical allegations of misconduct were investigated.

Wallace said ‘the most damaging claims (including allegations from public figures which have not been upheld) were found to be baseless’.

He said he had recognised ‘that some of my humour and language, at times, was inappropriate’.

‘I was hired by the BBC and MasterChef as the cheeky greengrocer. A real person with warmth, character, rough edges and all,’ Wallace said.

‘For over two decades, that authenticity was part of the brand. Now, in a sanitised world, that same personality is seen as a problem.’

A source reportedly said Wallace had been cleared of the most high profile allegations that had been brought by Penny Lancaster and Kirsty Wark.

‘But the BBC has made it clear there is no way back for him. He is devastated,’ they said.

The former greengrocer, who was recently diagnosed with aut1sm, accused the BBC of doing nothing to ‘investigate my d1sability or protect me from what I now realise was a dangerous environment for over twenty years’.

And he vowed ‘I will not go quietly’ as he said the full 200 page report will not be published with the BBC instead going to release an executive summary.

‘What really concerns me about the short summary is others who have been found guilty of serious allegations have been erased from the published version of events. I, and I’m sure the public, would like to know why?,’ he said.

A source told The Sun that Wallace was ‘both furious and devastated’ by the BBC’s decision to axe him.

The report is to be officially published on Thursday, but Wallace’s legal team have claimed to have seen the report.

A BBC spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Banijay UK instructed the law firm Lewis Silkin to run an investigation into allegations against Gregg Wallace. We are not going to comment until the investigation is complete and the findings are published.’

Wallace was initially bullish in the face of the allegations, taking to Instagram to say they mostly came from ‘m1ddle class w0men of a certa1n age’.

He went on to ask: ‘Can you imagine how many women on MasterChef have made s3xual r3marks or s3xual innuend0?’

Since then, several high-profile names – including TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson as well as Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer – had condemned his remarks in public statements.

The former greengrocer later apologised for the controversial comments which caused a PR storm.

The under-fire presenter said of his middle class women slur: ‘I wasn’t in a good headspace when I posted it. I’ve been under a huge amount of stress, a lot of emotion.’

He told the Mail in April had he how he stopped socialising with young people after first being disciplined by the BBC in 2018, because he was ‘scared they would complain about him.’

He was disciplined for inappr0pr1ate behav1our while working on a quiz show when he told a young runner on the final day of filming that he’d ‘really enjoyed working with her, she was brilliantly clever, strikingly attractive and was going to do well’.

Wallace said: ‘They said that was improper because it was a personal remark and sent me on a course on how to communicate with younger people, which just confused me even more.

‘I thought, ‘F***, I don’t have to do very much to get into a lot of trouble here.’

Wallace stopped socialising with young people. When on location, he’d order room service rather than join them for dinner or a drink.

‘It was at that point that I realised, in 2018, that I didn’t have to do a lot to get into a lot of trouble.

Talking about the aftermath in a new interview, he explained: ‘My behaviours completely and utterly changed from 2018 and that’s why there are no complaints in this big investigation after 2018. It changed me completely and I never got into trouble again.

‘But the way I did it was to become a social recluse. I refused to do anything social at work, wouldn’t go to the pub with anyone, to the point where when we went out on location everybody else would go out for dinner and I would stay in my hotel room.

‘I wouldn’t socialise. I stopped any social conversations with younger people that I didn’t know very well.’

Wallace recalled: ‘There’s some really good young people at work and they’d say ‘Gregg we’re all going for a drink are you gonna come?’

‘And I’d say no I won’t come. You guys make me nervous. The sensibilities of a sixty year old man are different to 25-year-olds and you live in a complaint culture that never existed.

‘If I go out with you and I drink and offer an opinion, p0litical or social, I’m scared you’re going to complain about me. The anxiety levels were just extraordinary.’
