BREAKING: Nick Knowles’ TV comeback confirmed after sad personal life update

TV fans will be delighted to see Nick Knowles return to screens this weekend. The popular DIY SOS star will appear on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen from 10am on July 25, alongside host Matt Tebbutt. They will also be accompanied by chefs Scott Hallsworth and Paul A Young, as well as Helen McGinn, who will pick the drinks to go with the studio dishes.
Nick’s return to TV comes just one month after he revealed that he would be stepping away from his work duties due to a family crisis. The 63-year-old broadcaster took a break from screens to care for his wife, Katie Dadzie, after she required emergency surgery. Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, Nick previously announced: “I’ve been looking after my wife a lot because she has been through it. She’s had a lot of tough times. She’s got another operation coming up.”

He added: “I will disappear for a while because I’ll be looking after her. I’m always worried (about her) but she’s a warrior and a fighter, so I know she’ll be fine.”
Katie was notably rushed to hospital after her cervix ruptured following a hysterectomy, just weeks after she and Nick tied the knot in June 2025. Last month, she underwent a five-and-a-half-hour operation, prompting Nick to remain at home to care for her, reports the Mirror.
The 36-year-old businesswoman has since posted an update after her surgery, writing on Instagram: “The ovaries. The endo. The adhesions. The organs that had stuck together. The prolapses. The bits of my body that have caused me pain for nearly two decades. All gone!”

Katie added: “Hopefully this is the last big recovery. Hopefully this is the start of life without that pain. I know this pain is short-lived. I know the scars, the stitches, the bleeding, the gas pain, the swelling, the injections, the cannulas, the bruises and all the awful hospital bits are temporary. But temporary doesn’t mean easy. It is brutal.”

Katie was quickly flooded with support in the comments section, with her famous friends and fans sharing their best wishes. Dr Punam Krishan said: “Sending you so much love.”
Escape to the Country’s Nicki Chapman added: “Oh babe [heart emoji]. Huge hugs and hopefully a pain free time ahead,” while someone else wrote: “Such a strong and resilient woman, be proud of your strength, rebuild your physical strength and enjoy living pain free now.” Another fan commented: “Hope you recover well and enjoy life with your lovely Nick again painfree.”
The couple have continued to share updates on social media, with Katie recently telling a fan that she was “still slow and sore” after surgery, but feels “a bit better every day”.
