Helen George has disclosed the heartbreaking loss of a secret boyfriend who passed away from leukaemia shortly after they started seeing each other.
The 42-year-old Call The Midwife actress, best known for her portrayal of Nurse Trixie, shared the devastating story during an appearance on the Mystic Mates podcast.
Ms George revealed she had been in a secret relationship when her partner received a sudden cancer diagnosis.
“I had been dating someone who very suddenly got diagnosed with leukaemia,” she began.

The following day, the actress was required to travel to the Bahamas for filming commitments.
The ITV programme Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters, which aired last July, was being shot during this devastating period in Ms George’s life.
While working on location in the Caribbean, the star found herself overwhelmed by grief for the man she had only recently begun dating.

“I would call my best friend and sob down the phone about this lovely, beautiful man,” she recalled.
The timing proved particularly cruel, with the actress forced to maintain her professional commitments whilst processing the news that her boyfriend’s condition was grave from the outset.
The experience has profoundly altered Ms George’s perspective on what happens after death, leading her to embrace clairvoyancy.
“He now comes through in my clairvoyant readings – he’s looking after me. I’d like to be a clairvoyant. I’d like to talk to dead people,” she said.

During a session last week, a medium told her: “This is your ex-boyfriend, and he died very suddenly after you started dating him.
“He’s come into the room because he’s not very happy about your situation.”
Ms George described being moved to tears by the encounter.
The actress also separated from businessman Dan Innes earlier this year, just months after he had moved into her West London residence.
A source said to The Sun: “Helen and Dan have gone their separate ways.
“They had a whirlwind romance but their differences became apparent. It has been a difficult time for them both.”

Ms George previously spent seven years with Jack Ashton, the father of her two young daughters.
