WBA Lightweight Champ Gervonta Davis Arrested On Disturbing Charges, Mugshot Released

Gervonta Davis is in some serious trouble.

The World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight champion was arrested early Friday morning in South Florida. According to Andy Slater of FOX Sports 640, Davis is accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend in the back of the head and slapping her.

Davis was stopped in Miami Beach after a license-plate reader alerted cops to him, Slater added.

The alleged incident with his ex-girlfriend happened a few weeks ago, and he has been wanted by police ever since. The report states that the incident in question occurred on the night of June 15.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis was arrested on battery-domestic violence charges and booked into Miami’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 3:35 a.m. ET.

Davis and the victim were in a romantic relationship for about four years and share two children.

What Is Gervonta Davis Accused of?

Gervonta Davis was arrested Friday morning, nearly a month after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend on Father’s Day.

According to an arrest report, the 30-year-old went to the victim’s home to pick up their children for Father’s Day, but a verbal altercation between him and the victim ensued, which escalated to a physical altercation.

The report added that Davis told his ex-girlfriend to remove their children from his car as he no longer had plans to take them with him. However, when she leaned forward to retrieve her children from the backseat, Davis suddenly struck her in the back of the head and then slapped her in the face.

His violent actions caused a minor cut to the inner area of her lip.

The alleged victim would text her mother, informing her that Davis was assaulting her and asking her to come outside. The victim’s mother would come out and notice her daughter in distress and crying while arguing with Gervonta Davis.

The mother would record part of the altercation on her cellphone, which showed Davis throwing a small box at the victim.

As of Friday morning, Davis was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His bond was listed in online jail records as “to be set.”
