Derrick Rose’s wife, Alaina Rose, and his ex, Mieka Reese, were seen enjoying the Simeon High School alumni game in Chicago on Friday. The former Bulls star’s current and former partners attended Simeon High’s basketball game featuring D-Rose and his son, PJ Rose. Both women posted videos from the game on their Instagram handles.
Rose played in the Simeon vs. Morgan Park game as he was honored by his alma mater. The two high schools have been rivals for years, and Rose’s participation made the game even more intense. It featured former Simeone and Morgan Park stars going against each other with some players from the younger generation in the mix. The matchup also honored Simeon’s 1984 state championship team.
Alaina, Rose’s wife, posted a video of the former Bulls star and her stepson standing together at the locker room door. In the following story, she posted a video of PJ driving and making a successful layup.
She expressed her thoughts on the play in the caption of her upload, writing:

In another story, Alaina shared a video of Derrick Rose making a jumper and expressed her proud feelings in the caption, writing:

Derrick Rose had his son PJ with his ex-girlfriend Meika Reese in 2012. However, they decided to go their separate ways four years after his birth. Despite the separation, they continue to co-parent him and be a part of his life.
Rose will also be honored by the Bulls during their Saturday night game against the New York Knicks at the United Center. Ahead of the matchup, the team announced that it would be retiring Rose’s No. 1 jersey in a ceremony set to be held during the 2025-26 season.
Derrick Rose quotes Bob Marley to honor friends and family at the Simeon showdown
After the Simeon vs. Morgan Park alumni game, Rose shared a quote from famous musician Bob Marley to honor his family, friends and close ones. The Chicago Bulls posted Rose’s message on their Instagram handle.
“Bob Marley had a quote,” Rose said. “He said, ‘Real friends are like stars. You only see them in the dark.’ That made me look back at everyone that was close to me. My friends and family and a majority of people in here. Y’all was shining bright.”
Derrick Rose retired on Sept. 26 last year, leaving behind a glorious legacy. The former Chicago Bulls star is one of the biggest what-ifs in the league’s history. In 2011, he became the youngest player to win the NBA MVP award, leaving fans with great expectations for his future.
However, serious injuries plagued his career and even threatened a premature ending. But Derrick Rose never gave up and kept coming back even after getting reduced to a role player at the Memphis Grizzlies in 2023. Since retirement, Rose has been active in giving back to the community in his hometown.
