Lionel Richie is getting into the nitty gritty about his life journey — and fans will now be able to learn about it, too.

The longtime singer and American Idol judge is well known for working in the music industry since the 1970s. With a career that spanned from being a co-lead singer of Commodores to winning accolades for hit tracks like “Dancing on the Ceiling” and “Endless Love,” it’s clear Lionel has had plenty of life highligts. Well, it looks like he’s ready to share his experience in Hollywood with his fanbase, and it’s in the form of a new venture he hasn’t explored yet.
Thanks to an announcement made by People on February 27, folks learned Lionel would be adding “author” to his work catalog later this year. He shared how he is publishing a memoir titled Truly, and it is set to hit bookshelves on September 30, 2025. And if that wasn’t enough, folks can already pre-order the book for purchase online.
“I travel the world, and all people really want to hear is, ‘I love you,'” he told the outlet in an official statement. “‘I love you’ is forever. And the day we realize we come as different tribes, but we all represent the global family of mankind… the day that happens, we will clearly be united, together, as one.”
When fans learned of Lionel’s exciting career news on social media, they immediately congratulated him over the prospect.
“How wonderful babes. I can’t wait to read it. ❤️❤️❤️,” one person wrote on Instagram. “I bet that’s a good read!” another penned. “I am excited. I’ve been looking forward to reading about your life for some time now. You have led and still lead such a fascinating life! ❤️,” a different follower added.
So, are there any clues about what Truly will be about? According to the book’s official website, Lionel will share anecdotes that “revisit hilarious and harrowing events that seek to inspire all who doubt themselves or feel their dreams don’t matter.” Additionally, readers will get to see Lionel’s unexpected rise to fame, from his childhood in Tuskegee, Alabama to becoming one of the most celebrated singers and songwriters of all time.
Congrats, Lionel and we can’t wait to read it!
