NO MORE GUESSING: “Maverick” revealed in Beat The Chasers — netizens say “I told you so”

Beat the Chasers sent fans into meltdown when the ITV game show announced a brand new face will replace Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis – but he’s hidden behind a mask. The mysterious new Chaser, known only as The Maverick, wears a bowler hat and a red and black mask to cover his face, along with red gloves and a suit covered in question marks to conceal his identity.
He’ll replace Darragh for the next instalment of The Chase spin-off, with bosses teasing: “Who is behind the mask, and can they live up to being a part of the greatest quiz team in the world?” It hasn’t been confirmed yet if The Maverick is only stepping in for the series finale or whether Darragh will be missing from the show for a longer period.

Fans are sure they’ve already worked out The Maverick’s identity – with some joking it could be WWE wrestler Kane, who was also known for sporting a red and black mask during fights.
One joked: “Through hell, fire and brimstone, it’s Kane!” as another agreed: “That’s gotta be Kane!”
On a more serious note, some fans have suggested Rob Rinder could be taking on the new batch of contestants from behind the mask. Someone else suggested Eggheads icon Kevin Ashman, who has been a professional quizzer since 2003.

They penned: “My guess based on the height in the YouTube clip, Kevin Ashman? Or a former contestant?”
Someone else replied: “Ooh I can see it being Kevin!” and another posted: “There was some guy that took on the Chasers and called himself Maverick, or could it be one of the Eggheads?”
And one viewer who was present at the live recording of the latest episode teased: “I know who it is, but I’m not telling! I went to the recording. The mask was only a stand-in for Darragh.”
