Gail Loman has officially left Emmerdale tonight (Wednesday, May 7) and it’s a shame that she’s gone because she had so much potential.
She’s been around on the soap for six years. Although she hasn’t really had much of a storyline during this time (Oscar who?)
But, being a likeable character, we reckon she deserved better than this exit.

Gail’s gone from Emmerdale village
Earlier this year it was reported that Rachael Gill-Davis would be leaving the soap this year after six years on the soap as Gail Loman.
And this week saw her time in the village come to a very quick end, with an exit storyline that seemed to have been plucked out of nowhere.
Deciding to test out a new couple’s quiz for a themed Woolpack Mr and Mrs night (an ‘original’ idea by Gail), Gail realised that she and Ryan didn’t know each other as well as they thought.
After some reflection, Gail realised that ‘their dreams were not aligned.’ She then decided to end things with him and remain friends instead.
Then Mary Goskirk offered to take her to the train station where she’d then make her journey to Devon to run her friend’s family B&B. An exit story that started and ended all in the space of two episodes. Impressive stuff.

Emmerdale opinion – Gail is gone but she deserved better
During Gail’s time on the soap, she didn’t really have the chance to get involved in a big storyline. Well… there was THAT one Oscar storyline where she was reunited with her son to see if she was a match for a bone marrow transplant.
But, that storyline randomly disappeared (and so did her son). And, since then Gail’s just been confined to some one-liners behind the Woolpack bar. Or, occasionally, if she was feeling adventurous, she’d venture into the pub kitchen instead. Lucky woman.
Despite not being at the centre of the drama, Gail was a character that we couldn’t help but like. She was funny, bubbly and full of energy. And, she could’ve been used a little bit more if we’re honest.
But, if she really had to go, we would’ve given her a more impactful exit. This one seems to have been conjured up in seconds. She deserved a bigger exit storyline than leaving the village just minutes after ending her relationship to Ryan. Was she done dirty? Surely someone with six years on the soap deserved a grander send off than that?
