George Stephanopoulos was noticeably absent from his usual spot alongside Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan, and in his place was ESPN sportscaster Joe Buck — a move that left many fans confused and concerned.

Joe, who is not a regular presence on GMA, joined Robin and Michael for the morning broadcast. The hosts made note of his unfamiliarity with the early hours. “I don’t know how you do this every day,” Joe said, before adding with a laugh: “I’ll try not to drive the ratings into the ground.”

While the temporary shakeup drew mixed reactions, George has had an eventful few weeks. Earlier this month, he and his wife Ali introduced a new member of their family: an adorable puppy named Fig.
