Prince Harry’s return has shined a spotlight to the relationship with his brother, Prince William, and the pair could be back on speaking terms if they work together, however, it would be a challenge for King Charles to juggle between his two sons, as a royal commentator suggested.
The Duke of Sussex has officially moved back to the UK with his wife, Meghan Markle, and two children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – six years after boarding their ‘freedom flight’ to North America. While the details of the family’s new home will not be revealed for security reasons, it is known that they have secured a base outside London, thought to be set somewhere in the beautiful Cotswolds.
Many have speculated that the King’s health battle with cancer as a major catalyst for Harry to return to home, and former BBC royal commentator, Jennie Bond, saw Harry’s return as a major test to Charles on “juggling his relationships with his two sons back in the UK”.
She told Sky News: “[King Charles] Feeling immensely loyal to his son and heir, William, who has stood by through thick and thin in the last six years, and he is immensely loyal to his father and to the monarchy, to the job. And Harry, if you bring Harry close, are you going to offend the other one deeply? Or is William going to face up to what I think is the fact of the matter? That as things stand, it’s untenable to never speak to your brother again, isn’t it? And possible unnecessary.
“An apology would be nice from Harry and Meghan, because they have said and done things that have been deeply hurtful. A recognition, acknowledgment from the palace, that they could have done things better perhaps. That all could be done privately. Then surely they can all move forward and we can move forward and be civil.”

The commentator mentioned that with Princess Diana’s 30th anniversary approaching next year, she cannot see the brothers’ relationship continue like this.
“It’s nearly August 31, and then next year, it’s the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death. There are events planned,” she added. “There will be commemorations. Are they going to both be there? Neither of you, are they gonna be there and look in different directions?
“The brothers don’t have to be best buddies, but can they not have a civil and courteous relationship?”
A close friend of Harry has provided an update on the brothers’ relationship, according to News 24, saying: “There is a chance it will all heal.” The insider added that as Harry and his family return to England it “is the best opportunity we have seen in recent years.
“It is going to be challenging for William. It will be very hard for him and Catherine.”
