ITV’s Dr Amir Khan spends weekend in ‘amazing’ Scotland but returns home ‘in pain’

Dr Amir Khan has shared how a trip to Scotland left “his entire body” in bits. The health expert took a trip up north for a wedding and finally learned the true meaning of “No Scotland. No Party”.

The ITV doctor is known for offering advice on a myriad of health issues, ranging from blood pressure, to sleep, to warning consumers about the effects of the latest weight loss drugs. But over the weekend, the doctor took some much needed time out, using it to visit Scotland.

In an Instagram post shared on Sunday (July 26), Dr Amir explained that his visit was filled with fun and ceilidh dancing. He also was left left “wondering how on earth Scottish people manage to function the next day”.

And it seems the TV personality was still left wondering this on his return to the office on Monday. In a separate Instagram story shared this morning (July 27), he revealed that the Scottish hoolie had done a number on his entire body.

He said: “Morning Team how we doing? Happy Monday. We’re back at it back in work after my weekend away in Scotland which was amazing. Except you guys like next level. Next level part animals.

“Honestly for all my Scottish peeps out there, my arms are killing me, my shoulders are killing me, my buttocks are killing me. God knows what was going on on that dance floor but there was a lot going on.”

Dr Amir’s previous Instagram post detailed the likely culprit of his Monday morning pain: “The ceilidh started innocently enough… then someone shouted ‘Strip the Willow!’ and before I knew it I was being flung from one end of the dance floor to the other by people with the grip strength of Olympic rowers.

“My shoulders may never recover. I’m genuinely not sure how I’m going to examine patients this week. Scottish forearms are clearly built differently.”

While the doctor experienced some physical ailments, this did not stop him from singing Scotland’s praise. “Honestly you guys know how to party. I finally understand the term ‘No Scotland. No party’. It’s like Bob Marley’s no woman no cry.”

It wasn’t all painful for Dr Amir as he couldn’t help but gush over the country’s stunning offerings. Prior to making his ‘painful’ confession, he took the time to highlight his favourite parts.

“And then there was the country itself. Edinburgh is one of the most magical, whimsical cities I’ve ever wandered through—every cobbled street feels like it’s hiding a story.

“Glasgow has a warmth, humour and energy that’s completely infectious. And the landscapes… they’re almost unfairly beautiful. Mist rolling over mountains, shimmering lochs, ancient castles and skies that seem to change every five minutes.

“Thank you, Scotland, for your kindness, your laughter, your breathtaking scenery and for reminding me that life is meant to be danced through… even if I can’t lift my arms above shoulder height for the foreseeable future.”
