The total official d.e.a.th toll from the destructive wildfires currently stands at six people, but that number is likely to rise once officials are able to safety access areas and confirm the d.e.a.ths. It was indicated whether the remains found are included in the overall d.e.a.th toll but detectives have not been able to fully clear the scene due to safety risks
Officials in Los Angeles have confirmed that the remains of multiple people have been found in homes destroyed but the destructive wildfires still burning in the Los Angeles area, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Homicide detectives have not been able to access the scene and investigate due to the ongoing fires as well as power outages, gas leaks and downed power lines, according to the sheriff’s office. Officials did not indicate where the bodies were found and how many there were but have confirmed at least five deaths as a result of the Eaton Fire burning in Pasadena and one d.e.a.th as a result of the Palisades Fire in the Pacific Palisades area but it’s unclear if the remains found are included in the total d.e.a.th toll.
“Information is still very preliminary, but there have been multiple d.e.a.ths in the fire areas,” an LASD spokesperson told KTLA. “Once homicide investigators can assess the scenes, more information will be provided.”

The scope of the total number of lives lost will likely not be known for a significant amount of time as firefighters are still working to contain the multiple major fires still burning on Thursday afternoon. Six d.e.a.ths have been confirmed as a result of the fires,
One victim of the Eaton Fire was found d.e.a.d clutching his garden hose trying to save his home from the fire.
Shari Shaw told KTLA that she tried to get her 66-year-old brother Victor Shaw, to evacuate with her on Tuesday night as the fire moved toward the home they shared. He told her he wanted to stay behind and try to fight the fire, she recalled.
“When I went back in and yelled out his name, he didn’t reply back, and I had to get out because the embers were so big and flying like a firestorm — I had to save myself,” she said. “And I looked behind me, and the house was starting to go up in flames, and I had to leave,”
family friend, Al Tanner, told KTLA that the next morning, they found Victor’s body on the side of the road still holding the hose.
“It looks like he was trying to save the home that his parents had for almost 55 years,” Tanner said.

More than 4,000 structures have been destroyed in the Eaton Fire in the Los Angeles area, LA County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said during a media briefing Thursday afternoon.
Los Angeles city officials say thousands more structures burned in the Palisades Pacific community.
Structures could include homes, apartment buildings, commercial buildings or even vehicles, Marrone said.
Currently there are still several major fires still burning in the Los Angeles area and have burned a combined 30,000 acres as high winds and dry conditions have provided the perfect condition for these fires to rapidly spread.
